22 Issue #10

The rest of the trip to the airport was peaceful. Although they had a bit of trouble getting past the security gate at the airport with the bullet dents, they were able to pass by it easily once they reminded the guards what city they were in. Once they boarded the plane, the duo had safe travels and reached the academy without any trouble.

During the next few weeks, Jack felt as if his purpose was more clear. He could finally see the end goal and the plan that he was a part of. And now that he saw it, it meant that he could truly plan for it.

Day after day. Kill after kill. Mission after mission. Jack's days flew by in a blur. His skills increased greatly. They were no longer second-hand experiences but he felt as if he had truly owned them.

The week before the Hellfire Gala, Emma called for the team. While this was not unusual since she usually sent them on missions, this mission was different because Emma was joining them on it.

"What's the occasion?" Sharon asked

"Friendly sparring match. You all will be competing with Xavier's newest team. Make sure you don't lose or else you will have to deal with me," Emma both explained and threatened

The others nodded noncommittedly. None of them were worried about being defeated. IF it was the original X-Men team, they might have been threatened. But a bunch of people that should be their age or slightly older with the same amount of training as them? Xavier's new team was nothing more than a joke to them.

Jack also thought the same as the rest of his team but still kept his guard up. He read the files about each of them and knew that they had a few tricks up their sleeves.

The 8 boarded the Hellions' secret jet before they flew over to upstate New York that Saturday afternoon. The jet flew toward a large mansion that seemed to be well kept yet ancient in age. The modern basketball court and pools also helped.

The Hellions' Jet landed on the basketball court where Charles Xavier and his team of young mutants were waiting.

Emma was the first to walk off the jet with Jack and the others following close behind.

"Good to see you, Emma. You are looking as beautiful as ever," Charles complimented

"Hmm. Thank you, Charles. That is especially flattering since you saw me at my lowest so long ago," Emma responded with a small smile

Xavier knew what she was talking about but did not say it in front of the children. Emma had gone through a dark period due to the pressure of her father. Charles had tried to recruit her into his X-Men team during this period.

Although she did not join his team, the pair had maintained a decent friendship. Even when Emma joined forces with Shaw who directly opposed Xavier's beliefs, that still did not affect their relationship in private.

"Let me introduce you to my team. They are the New Mutants and are just as promising as my X-Men."

The current roster of the New Mutants was slightly larger than the Hellions with them having 8 members over the Hellions' seven.

The co-leaders of the New Mutants were Karma and Mirage. Karma was a young, Vietnamese mutant named Xi'an Coy Manh, that could mentally possess others. She also had weak telepathic abilities.

Mirage was a powerful mutant in her own right. Danielle Moonstar was a Native American mutant that could project another person's greatest fears. She was also able to telepathically speak with animals.

Besides them was Sunspot or Robert DeCosta was another member of the team. He was the one that the Hellions actually knew a large amount of information about due to his father being the White Rook. Sunspot could turn into his solar form which gave him super strength and allowed him to fly.

Standing next to Robert was his best friend, Cannonball could be said to be the physically strongest of the group. Sam Guthrie could surround himself with a powerful and nearly impenetrable shield while flying in a singular direction, turning him into a literal human cannonball.

Rahne Sinclair or Wolfsbane was the youngest member of the New Mutants. She was pretty much their reflection of Sharon/Catseye. Wolfsbane could shift between lupine forms instead of feline forms though and she was unable to speak in her animal forms, unlike Sharon.

Then there were Warlock and Cypher. The former was an alien, living robot from a far-off planet that the New Mutants met on one of their first missions. He had the ability to shapeshift and absorb technology to constantly upgrade himself. But what made him truly a 'mutant' was that Warlock was not innately war-like as the rest of his people were.

Cypher was another can of worms. To many, it would seem that Douglas's power was useless. It would allow him to subconsciously translate any language he had seen or heard. This was not just human languages but mystical and alien as well. Despite this, Jack could see the potential in his power.

'I so want that power. I could read some ancient magical tomes to learn forbidden spells and knowledge or I can sneak off into space and steal some classified information. Ugh! This guy can't even see what he has!'

The last of the New Mutants was the most powerful and dangerous in Jack's opinion. Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina also known as Magik. The girl was originally an 8 year old child that activated her mutant powers and accidentally sent herself to Limbo, basically Hell, for 8 years. 8 years in Limbo, 5 minutes on Earth.

During this time, she was taught magic and combat by two X-Men of alternate dimensions, forged a sword out of her own soul, and slew the demon ruler of the dimension before being crowned as the new ruler of said dimension.

'I wanna fight her!'

Not caring about fighting the other members of the New Mutants, Jack figured that Magik was the only one that could match him in combat.

Both teams shook hands and introduced themselves to each other before following Xavier and Emma into the mansion. They were then led down into the basement before going into a large, metal room.

"Welcome to the Danger (Zone) Room," Charles said kindly

(I feel bad about these chapters where I have to introduce entire teams at once but the Marvel teams are too big)
