"Don't thank me too soon," Lily said. "If you make Cynthia sad or do anything to hurt her, rest assured, I will make you pay without mercy!"
Cynthia, standing outside the door, heard Lily's words to Tristan, and a sourness surged in her throat. Every word from Lily precisely hit the softest spots in her heart. A sudden wave of intense sourness rushed to her heart, making her eyes moist.
This was followed by a sense of satisfaction. Childhood misfortune made her believe that she was born unlucky. She thought she would always be met with coldness and betrayal. She felt fortunate that when she thought the world had abandoned her, Lily appeared in her life. Having such a friend who truly understood her, it seemed her life was not as bad as she had imagined.
Cynthia suppressed the tears in her eyes and put on a gentle smile, pushing the door open. "I'm back."
