Vaskill

Within a battleground, littered with countless corpses of divinities, a young divinity awoke.

His crimson eyes, his crimson hair, despite being an obvious new-born who had yet to learn of his abilities, carried power in them, and faint sense of suppression.

His crimson eyes scanned the place he was, and the very first thing he saw was the war.

Divinities falling from the sky, massive explosion of Authorities, and murder. And more murder...

In his pure blank state, his mind had already thought of war as common.

In his mind, there was only victory, and mettle.

And thus he fought.

Another thing that the young divinity noticed, was that he was different from everyone else.

He hid the fact that he was a new-born, and the fact that he couldn't use his Divine Authority. Also, unlike the rest, he didn't know what his Divine Authority was. All he knew was that it was related to war.

Yet despite all that, he still managed to survive the treacherous war, until that day arrived.

◇◇◇

The young divinity traversed the infinite lands of the Divine Realm. He flew, as ordered, and was tasked to slay all enemies he encounter, disregarding the fact that he might meet a foe stronger than he was.

He flew, as his Divine Robe fluttered despite the lack of winds, which was only present in the mortal worlds, and watched the monotonous yet beautiful landscapes below.

Despite the fact that it was ravaged by rampaging Authorities, making it a deadly zone for weaker divinities, it was still beautiful to the young divinity's eyes.

That's exactly why a question kept popping up within his chest.

'Why?' it asked. Not knowing it was the same question that sparked the war. However...

'Why do we have to fight?'

...his question was questioning the war itself.

'Is there a need for many to die?'

He questioned the deaths of divinities...

'Is there a need for—'

And as he asked inwardly, he suddenly felt a faint presence that was designated as enemy. Two of them in fact.

The young divinity rushed over, as he prepared for combat. This was orders from the eldest. His orders were absolute. After all, he called himself 'King'. And that meant ruler. One who cannot be defied.

The other party, who had sensed his presence too, also moved to subdue, and the young divinity felt powerful Authority trying to destroy his own.

He tightened his defences by converging his existence and went in full combat mode, as he then rushed while a sword manifested in his hand.

He took full brunt of the other party's attack, but the other refused to move. Although it baffled the young divinity, he had no leeway to care.

He then arrived in front of his enemy as he slashed through, trying to break the other party's defences, but before he managed to do so, he was blown back by a few lightyears as he stabilized himself.

"I see. A child." The other party spoke as he looked curiously at the young divinity. He then asked. "Tell me, youngling. What is the reason you fight?"

The young divinity gently shook his head. And the other party spoke once more. "I see. I am Skahr'dell, a God of Destiny. You are?" he introduced and asked.

The young divinity didn't answer. He held his sword tightly, as his expression tensed.

Seeing the reaction, Skahr'dell stroked his beard. "I see. How human. I take it that you are scared? Surprised? Or perhaps shook?" he asked.

The young divinity kept his silenced, but he rushed over once more, prepared to strike down Skahr'dell as battle intent rose.

However, before he managed to land his slash, he was once again blown backward, as a sudden strike from in front of him broke through his defenses. He spat a mouthful of corrupted Authority as it then vanished into the surrounding.

He landed several lightyears away, as he slid on the deadly grounds, whittling down momentum, and leaping upwards as he fled away from the dangerous area.

He looked at Skahr'dell in shock, but Skahr'dell explained. "It is impossible. You cannot beat me. Unless you release your Divine Authority."

The young divinity clenched his teeth, but he knew he had kicked the divine metal plate this time. It seems it was his bad day.

However, something completely unexpected happened. Skahr'dell retracted his divinity, as he then spoke. "Youngling. Think more about what you need to do. Behind me is a Goddess of Fate and Death. I will leave her in your care, as she is also a new-born. She can teach you how to use you Divine Authority."

And after that, Skahr'dell disappeared. Leaving behind the Goddess behind him.

The Goddess then started to approach the young divinity, but with his current state, he wouldn't even be able to run from her, if they fought. But contrary to expectations, she didn't.

She reached out a hand as her Divine Authority flowed through, and began removing death from the young divinity's body. His true presence began to heal at tremendous rate, as he couldn't comprehend why she would aid him.

With the same expressionless face she donned since the beginning, she asked. "Are you alright?"

The young divinity was suddenly curious of her strange behaviour, but she continued speaking. "I'm sorry about Skahr'dell. It seems he had taken an interest in you." She stated, and introduced herself. "I am Nah'kia. A Goddess of Fate and Death. You are?"

Although the young divinity didn't answer Skahr'dell, he felt compelled to answer the Goddess for some reason. He wanted to repay her for healing him.

"Vaskill." Was all he spoke.

However, it was from this moment, that marked an upcoming storm that would shake the entire Divine Realm entirely.
