As Zach's car rolled to a stop in Mindy's neighborhood, the familiar sights and sounds of home surrounded them. Mindy took a moment to compose herself, wiping away the last traces of tears that stained her cheeks.
Zach glanced over at her, concern etched in his features. "Are you okay, Mindy?" he asked softly, his voice filled with genuine worry.
Mindy nodded faintly, her voice barely a whisper as she replied, "Mmm."
With a heavy sigh, Mindy gathered her courage and turned to Zach. "Thank you for the ride," she said gratefully, her voice slightly steadier than before.
But before she could make a move to leave the car, Zach gently caught her hand, holding her back. There was an unspoken question in his eyes, a silent plea for her to confide in him. But he remained silent, opting instead to bid her goodnight.
