Chapter 4

  Erika's POV

His eyes, noses, and ears were all

bleeding because of my hard slap. Half of his body was covered in blood. Among

the audience, some gasped, and others were vomiting. Most of them were amazed

  at my performance.

"I announce that the winner of

the challenge is Erika Barlett!" Charles raised my hand and claimed

  proudly.

The training ground rang with applause.

I left the ground, shifted into human

form, and got dressed. That was another reason that I didn’t like fighting in

wolf form. You got naked after shifting back.

"I can't believe she's so amazing in wolf

  form!"

  "She's like a monster!"

Those who doubted me just now were

all dazzled by my performance. A lot of people came over to congratulate me. My

pup students crowded over and talked about how awesome I was tonight.

As for Steve, only his mother was

  weeping beside his body.

She held Steve in her arms and glared

  at me.

"He hasn’t found his mate. Why

are you so merciless?" She shouted.

I didn’t want to argue with this

irrational woman who just lost her son. I hadn't found my mate, either. And

Steve still challenged me. Of course, it was not that I wanted a mate.

The next second, she got up to pounce

on me. I sneered and kept walking, knowing that she had no chance to hurt me.

What I didn’t expect was that another man ran toward her and attacked her with

  a sword.

  It was Orsen.

Thanks, I mind-linked him and walked

  away.

Heavily hurt, the woman collapsed on

the ground and burst out crying again.

After the challenge, a lot of things

happened. Charles found out that I was still rogue hunting by myself and

ordered Orsen and James to accompany me. My lessons became more and more popular

and more girls took them. While I was happy to see it, I had to prepare more

weapons, which was also a burden. The challenge for the Beta position was held.

Orsen defeated all the opponents and became the new Beta and also the youngest

Beta in our pack. That was not surprising.

But the biggest event would happen

today. Alpha Derek would visit us.

Before Derek arrived, Charles held a

meeting and warned us to mind our manners.

"Our goal is to form an alliance

with the Blood Moon Pack. As you all know, Alpha Derek is an irritable and

cruel man. So be polite and respectful as much as possible. Always keep silent

until he asks you questions. Obey him and satisfy his every requirement. Most

importantly, do not have eye contact with him. Do not look him in the eye

because he will take it as disrespect. I won’t help you if any of you provoke

  him. Understand? Erika!"

I nodded without opening my eyes. So

this meeting was all about good manners and dressing code. So boring.

"You go dress up. Take off your

gloves and put on makeup to conceal that scar!" Charles said to me.

OK. I'll do it after the meeting. I

mind-linked him. My student was also in the meeting and I felt a little

  embarrassed.

  "Now!" He scowled.

Fine. I shrugged and then left the

meeting room. I changed into new clothes, put down my hair which was always in

a ponytail, and wore a bracelet made of shells. But I didn't know how to use

makeup and I didn't think it was necessary. I thought for a while and decided

to conceal it with a veil. It was quite cute and I didn't think Alpha Derek

would take it as disrespectful. And I wouldn't take off my gloves, not even in

  front of Alpha Derek.

Somehow I felt restless and nervous,

probably because of the new clothes and the veil I wore.

Ten o’clock in the morning, all the

pack leaders stood in two lines at the border, waiting for the arrival of

  Derek.

Charles noticed my veil and my gloves. He shot me a

  glare.

Ten minutes later, two SUVs drove over. Derek had

  come!

I could hear Charles’s heart race

when a bunch of men got off the car. They were led by a tall and strong figure.

Then I realized immediately that I should lower my head.

Charles walked ahead to welcome them.

We all followed him with our heads low.

They began to exchange greetings. But

I didn’t care what they were talking about. All my attention was drawn by

  Derek’s deep and masculine voice.

I wondered if there was magic in his

voice. Did he kill rogues with his voice? Because my wolf was going insane now.

I had to try hard to calm her down.

As a fighter, when I met a stranger,

I could immediately tell how many blows he could stand. But now, I only wanted

to see him. I had a feeling that he was different from all the men I knew.

Now they would head for Pack House.

It was time. I raised my head and looked at his back. He was tall, broad, tan,

and muscular. Our Alpha looked much smaller walking beside him. He walked at

fast speed because his legs were long and even Charles was behind him. He was

in a black suit and tie, which set off his muscular body.

As I walked with my eyes fixed on his

  back, he finally stopped.

As a result, we all stopped. Orsen

exchanged a confused look with me. I shook my head at him. I was not sure if

Derek could feel my look behind his back and if he took it as disrespectful.

The next second, Derek turned around

and his gaze settled on me. It all happened so quickly that I didn’t have time

to avert my gaze. Inevitably, our eyes met.

  My heart began to pound.
