30 New Power?

After a good night's rest, Ye Qin headed into his monster sea to visit his monsters. When he arrived, all seven of them danced with joy as they saw their master. Ye Qin enjoyed his time in the monster sea with his partners and then spoke "I'm almost done with the preparations, just wait a bit more." to the five remaining that haven't evolved nor progressed from the time they arrived within him

The five nodded happily as they danced in circles around Ye Qin, it looked as though he had five rings with different colors around his body. This made him think to himself "Rings huh this makes me remember those popular webnovels from a thousand years ago where the main character would sometimes have a ring floating behind them as they fought bravely against foes of greater levels than himself."

"There's also 'that' series, I wonder if the same thing is possible here." he wondered for a while. His monsters could tell what he was thinking, each of them had strange vein like lines around their bodies that glew in the colors of their respective elements

"Huh, what's happening?" Ye Qin wondered as he reached out to his monsters

"Arg!!!" he yelled as the closer he got to his monsters, the more pain he felt deep within his soul that almost reached the same level as when the meteorite first entered his forehead

Ye Qin's forehead started shining a deep dark red as if it reacted to his monsters' which their energies grew explosively as if it wasn't their own strength. After suffering the soul wrenching pain for half an hour, he suddenly heard a familiar sound

As he recovered from the pain, he wiped off his sweat that covered every nook of his body and said "A new…. Power??"

"..."

"Could it be.. Because of my earlier thoughts?" Ye Qin thought however no one could reveal to him the answer to his question. "Monster Rings? Is it just like 'that'? If so, that means humans will be able to fight against the monsters without being prone to attacks whilst their partner fight!" he thought

Looking at his monsters, he noticed they looked somewhat different. The two dragons now had a different character that wasn't there previously on their bodies. Not only that, their scales looked more exotic and elegant giving off a strange but soft aura

Though they looked different, it didn't seem like they had gotten any stronger. The five koi however, seemed to have a more aggressive aura surrounding them, as if the previous event had awakened their true ferocious nature

Each of them seemed to be darker in color whilst their fins had armour like scales that are slightly darker than their body without making them look out of it. When he checked their stats, he noticed each of them gained two levels, but in exchange, their xp bar increased by 50%

Noticing this, he turned to his dragons and saw that they too had an increase in xp by 50% per level. The already crazy amount of xp was increased by a large portion!!! "It seems like they did get stronger somehow which would explain the increase in xp, but it seems like the system isn't telling me anything about it."

"As for the unknown item, there's nothing I can do about it. I haven't even figured out the seven orbs yet and now this? Just what is happening?" he wondered

"It says the progress is 0.1% how do I increase it? What's the point in giving me new powers if it doesn't tell me anything about it? What difference is there to not having it at all?"

After pondering for a while in his monster sea, Ye Qin heard the sound of someone knocking upon his door

Knock* Knock*

Hearing the familiar knocking pattern, he left his Monster Sea and opened his eyes. It seemed as though he hadn't experienced the grueling pain since his body was still in the same condition as before he entered

Opening the door, he saw the fatty waiting for him. "Boss, let's go!" Wang Tao exclaimed. Ye Qin nodded as he followed his brother down to the kitchen for breakfast

Sitting down, the two of them waited with Jia Yazhu for Su Guiying to finish making breakfast. When she had almost finished cooking breakfast, a familiar silhouette entered the kitchen and sat down next to Wang Tao

"Hey." Wang Tao said

Ye Qin nodded towards their only other male student in their class whilst the student nodded back. Jia Yazhu politely greeted him as he nodded whilst Su Guiying placed down the breakfast onto the table

Wang Tao got up and helped her set the table whilst bringing out an extra plate and a pair of chopsticks. Once the food was ready, Wang Tao teased Su Guiying once again before the five of them enjoyed the meal

Ye Qin heard a notification and checked his smartwatch. A message from Sun Zan who sent him topics on some small talk. Replying to the messages, he finished off his breakfast as he watched tv for a while

Remembering his experience in the plane, Ye Qin went out with Wang Tao to buy a brand new VR set for each person in their dorm. They went back to the dorms and installed all the necessities along with some games before setting them up in everyones room

"A VR set?" Jia Yazhu asked

"Yea, come join us the games pretty good." Wang Tao replied

The duo then left and went back to their rooms and logged into their accounts. When they arrived, the news of a newly released patch was announced all over the server. Since it was winter, new costumes released for the occasion as an event boss also spawned with limited items for the duration

The two instantly bought the entire new bundle which included two costumes, weapon skins, a new pet, some premium currency and large amounts of potions

One of the costumes is a regular looking winter jacket along with boots gloves and weapon sheaths. Players can pick the color of their choosing creating a unique look over the plain style of clothing. The set, however, gave players a decent bonus enabling them with 20% cold resistance as well as a small amount of hp and defense

The other costume looked much better, long black pants that is similar to jeans made up of high grade monster wool along with matching boots and gloves. A jacket that appeared like a school blazer but is thin and comfortable to move and fight in with a color of the players choosing. The best parts is that it came with a white, black or grey scarf with a great design that matched the clothes along with earmuffs that fit both genders. Both sets of costumes gave the same bonus

Naturally, the items of tradable though no one would trade them at this time since the event had literally just released. Opening up their inventory and using their Pet Ticket, Ye Qin chose a husky as his pet that has a good detection ability

Wang Tao chose an eagle so that it could view from the skies and report to him, making their journey easier. Looking around, they noticed a few people having the full set just like they did. Ye Qin wore the second set whilst Wang Tao wore the first set since it looked better with his build

Snow fell from the sky as a new song played in the background. The two walked around to check out the town, npc's walked around as though they were real people and chatted with the players

Many veteran players walked about the town flexing their equipment whilst the two brothers accepted multiple quests at once from npc's. Heading towards a large building known as the Guild, the two entered and was welcomed by a female npc

"Greetings, this must be your first time here. Would you like to follow me and register?" she asked politely with a bow

"Yes, we would." Ye Qin replied as the two followed behind her. Looking around, many people either turned in quests or looked for them whilst others stayed to have a drink or recruit party members

When they arrived at the reception desk, another woman took her place to help them complete their registration. "Welcome to the Guild, to register it will cost 10 Silver coins per person totaling 20 Silver coins." she said

Ye Qin nodded as he took out the money and handed it to her, she presented some papers for them to fill out which included name, occupation etc. After filling in the details, the receptionist excused herself for a bit to grab them some brand new guild cards

"Thank you for your patience, here are two brand new F rank guild cards. I hope to see you become great adventurers!" she said. The two nodded as they looked at the white colored plate with their details printed

They then went to take a look at the bulletin board where the F rank missions were. Taking a look around, basic quests such as fetching a cat from a tree or cleaning toilets and gathering herbs are common. At the very top lied a subjugation quest to exterminate Goblins

Taking it down from the board, Ye Qin looked at the rewards

[Status: Repeatable]

[Rewards: 20 Silver Coins, 5 basic hp and mp pots]

"20 Silver Coins just for killing 10 goblins? This will be easy money!" Wang Tao said. Ye Qin nodded "Indeed let's turn in the ones we collected before". The two then brought the quest to the reception with the same lady

"Ah you've chosen that quest? Are you sure about that?" she asked. The two nodded, "Actually we've got some stuff to turn in while we're at it." Ye Qin replied as the two dumped a large pile of goblin corpses on the reception table and filled the ground

"Oh my gosh! So many goblins!!!" she exclaimed. "Did you two really kill that many?" she asked as she stared at the dozens of dead goblins in front of her. "Yea, on the way to the town actually. So how many times can we collect the reward?" Wang Tao asked

"Err… let's see, I'll need some help to count them all. Please be patient whilst we calculate!" she replied whilst the two waited nearby. The surrounding players turned to face the slight commotion and laughed before continuing with their own business

After a while, the receptionist came back out bringing a large bag of coins in hand. The two walked up to her as she said "Thank you for your patience, the reward has been completed 12 times earning a total of 240 Silver Coins and dozens of basic potions. Also, since you two have killed so many goblins already, we will be updating your guild cards to promote you to rank E."

The two nodded without asking questions and handed over their guild cards once again. After retrieving them, they noticed the color that was previously white now became slightly yellow in color

"Interesting." Ye Qin thought

The two then left the guild building and went to a place to practice against wooden dummies. "Fatty we should stay here and practice fighting for a while until we get more used to it." Ye Qin said

"Huh a while? Isn't it good enough that we fought some goblins?" the fatty replied

"Yup don't ask and just do it." the former said

"Alright, let's go." the fatty replied
