1 Prelude

Bullets flew around me as thick as rain droplets in a fierce storm. My body was tucked behind a brick wall that was quickly being chipped away. I pulled out my radio and shouted into it.

"Hey boys, I need some cover fire. Over."

Moments passed and the gunfire never ceased.

"Yeah boss, you got it. Stand clear and get ready for a light show. Over."

I put my fingers over my ears and closed my eyes. Moments later I heard a loud shrieking noise. Suddenly, the missiles hit the area where the gunshots had been coming from. Even with my ears plugged, they rang.

I walked from behind cover with a smile plastered over my face and my ears ringing like a motherfucking alarm. "Hot diggity dawg! Another day, another victory for the OGS… taking down the sweats and the imposters among us!"

Suddenly, I realized I had pressed down on my radio. I grabbed my radio and yelled into it. "Hey bois, don't pay attention to that!"

I heard them laughing in the background. "HEHE-HAhA… Copy that - heehe- sir."

I sighed as my ear drums were still ringing a little bit. I grabbed on tightly to my M4 and looked around for survivors.

There were parts of burning bodies all about, but I ignored them. It wasn't anything I hadn't seen before.

I looked for any survivors. There was one. He was hacking up blood. He turned to me and raised his hand. "Please don't-"

BANG. I put a bullet through his head. The back of his head exploded where the bullet exited. All of the Taliban were dead.

I pulled out my radio again. "Anyways, we are in the clear. Package is secure and I'm heading to the rendezvous point now. Over."

The pilot on the other end was flying above me several thousand feet in an Apache helicopter. I had to move to an area that It could land in.

"Rodger, we ain't got much room in here with only two seats, but you can sit on my lap!"

I chuckled and then started moving purposefully away from the scene of carnage. I had several miles to traverse. The area was not tame by any means because It was in the middle of a literal desert.

As I headed through the sands, I had a feeling that someone was watching me. There wasn't anyway though because the Apache helicopter had sophisticated technology to decipher heat signals.

I continued on, but I still couldn't shake that feeling. That was when it happened, I saw a kid face down in the sand. It looked like he was half dead. I didn't see him as an enemy at that moment, so I let my defense down. I approached him and turned him over.

In his hands, he held a pistol and his eyes looked into my own with determination. I realized he had never been half dead, but it was too late. He had already pulled the trigger three times before my brain could comprehend what was happening.

I felt two hot and hard impacts against my chest. I felt my knees grow weak and I thought of my son at home. I missed him.

I could hear a noise from my radio as my vision faded. "Come in."

"I repeat, come in!"

Another voice cut in. "Hostiles cannot be allowed to have the package. Blow him to hell."

My face turned to the boy, and I could see him rummaging through my jacket. Seconds later, the world turned orange and then quickly faded to an abysmal black.

I died. Or maybe not?

I felt a light through what seemed like my eyelids. The numbness faded and I could feel again.

I opened my eyes and looked around me. A light was pointed at my face. "Subject 6535, you will enter the Creator's test world. Your soul will be held for the entertainment of those who have made you from nothing to something again."

The voice paused for a second and then laughed hysterically. "OHH- haha! Such good fun… Now leave my presence and DIE!"

Suddenly, a white portal opened behind me. A force pushed me through the portal backwards. I flailed my arms to no avail. On the other side of the portal, I began to hurtle down through open air like a missile.

"AHHH- WHAT THE FUCK!!! Wasn't I supposed to be reincarnated nicely, or maybe have a cushy home in heaven?!"

I flipped over from looking at the sky. The passing wind was slamming up against me, but I could still see.

There was an island below me with several huge mountains. The ocean surrounding the island was a light blue color.

The trees on the island seemed tropical and the largest mountain looked like an active volcano from the ash it lightly discharged.

'What the fuck just happened! Why am I falling towards the Ocean from such a height!'

I would have a very rough landing. As I approached the ocean, I pointed my legs to the crashing waves below and I braced myself.

I hit the ocean and cut through the waves like a knife. Still my legs had taken a heavy impact by breaking the surface tension of the water. I felt pain as I descended fast.

I used my arms to start pulling water. I wasn't the best at swimming, but I tried my hardest.

Just as I was about to reach the surface, I noticed an enormous shark swimming towards me. I could do nothing. It opened its mouth and then swallowed me whole.

Everything turned black as I died, AGAIN.

I don't know how long it took, but I could feel my body forming around my soul. I looked around and noticed a glowing ball of blue light in front of me. I heard a mechanical voice from it:

"You, 6535 (Level 1), have been killed by a megalodon (level 87).

Respawn in the following locations: Beach (easy). // Jungle (medium). // Swamp (hard). // Volcano (insane)."

My brain was numb. Too many things were happening at once. 'There's no way in hell that I'm gonna be a dipshit and choose the volcano! I'm not going through that pain again!'

I wanted the easiest option. "GIVE ME THE BEACH!"

"You have chosen the Beach, watch out for sharp seashells. Good luck subject 6365."

With that, the blue glowing orb pulsed and created a portal behind me, It pushed me through the portal. And of course it was backwards!

I screamed hysterically as I went through the portal. "AWWW FUCKKK!! Here we go again!"

I screamed as I flew through the portal. "AW DON'T DROP ME!"

As I screamed, I anticlimactically landed softly in some very soft and comfy sand.

I stopped screaming, but as I did, I noticed a huge fat bird with no wings; a dodo bird. It stared me in the eyes and then looked down between my legs.

I was lying in the sand buck naked. I got up quickly as I covered my hanging package. "You foul bird, I'm gonna take my rage out on you!"

Conveniently, there was a rock lying down on the beach, so I picked it up and started running towards the Dodo bird. "Imma smash your dirty little eye sockets into your brain."

Now normally I wouldn't have cared that the Dodo bird had stared at my crotch because I have nothing to be ashamed of, but something about the whole situation had just made me go batshit crazy.

I ran towards the Dodo bird and I smashed the rock down hard against its skull. The bird started to turn around and run away, but it was too slow. The rock and my arms were quickly covered in warm blood and feathers.

After I killed it, I fell on my naked ass and just sat there panting. 'Man… I need to calm down!'

Just as I was thinking that a blue window popped up in front of me.

I blinked. 'But- I'm not ready for pain…'

And then it happened, my eyes started to burn like someone had poured alcohol on them. I clutched my eyes and dug my fingernails into them.

"AWW FUCKKKK! JUST SOME PAIN, MY ASSSSS!!"

I sat screaming and digging into my eyes for a good five minutes. Suddenly, the pain stopped and my eyes stopped burning. I took my hands away from my eyes to see that they were covered in blood.

The system window opened again.

'What the fuck. Why are there so many words!?'

I slammed the bottom at the bottom of the ridiculously long screen. 'Fuck I ain't got that much of an attention span. There was some interesting stuff there though.'

The Soulstone made me smile with a sense of joy, but also of apprehension. There was a way to escape the island if ever jolly-roger-ing wanted to kill myself.

At the same time, I wanted to see the island first and experience things fully before deciding my plans. The island was beautiful from what I had seen, I just had a bad experience.

I looked at the sigil and selected it from within the system interface by focusing on it with my eyes and willing it to emerge.

A paper with words scrawled upon it fell into my hands. Without further ado, I ripped it open.
