Chapter 2 - A Quest for Answers

I looked at Rez with the biggest smile I could muster and took one of the pair of boots from him. I placed the boots in my backpack, and also decided to move the gun from my pockets to my bag for safe keeping. "Alright, grab whatever weapon best suits you kid and let's finally bust outta here." "Right!" I said to him with as much enthusiasm I could muster in that moment.

There was a lot to choose from, some of the things in the vault were things I could only dream of. I eventually tossed two laser pistols and six cartridges of ammo into my bag. I slung a pulse rifle onto my back and put two cartridges of ammo in each of my pockets. Finally, there was one particular weapon that caught my eye more than the rest. I found an authentic Japanese katana, and in the process I found a belt so that I could clip the sheath to my side. After clipping it to my left side, I pulled the sword out and I was in utter shock by the blades beauty.

In that moment, it felt like I was about to die from pure joy and amazement. I did kinda wonder how this sword ended up here, but I was filled with too much ecstasy to even care. Eventually, Rez walked up next to me with a cart full of weapons and a silver suit case in his hand. Causing me to snap out of my trance. " So, I take it you found your weapon of choice?" He said to me with a smirk. "Definitely!" I responded back. "Good, let's get going." Rez removed the contents of the suitcase, revealing what appeared to be a pair of guns. They looked like a pair of m9 barretta's crossed with laser pistols. He put them in some chest holsters he had that were hidden by his jacket.

He turned to me and said. "Time to lock and load kid!" He then ran out of the room with the cart full of weapons, and I trailed not too far behind. We soon found our way to the lobby of the tower, and it was absolute chaos. The place had been turned into a battlefield, prisoners were slaughtering any guards that crossed their path. And guards were doing their best to subdue whatever prisoners they could. But no matter what, they still got overwhelmed.

Rez decided to toss weapons to any prisoners that had a free moment to spare. And after passing out everything he had. The battle became even more one sided than it already was. The prisoners managed to pin down all the guards that were present in a small hallway. And no matter how much backup came, no matter how many guards broke through the front line. It always ended the same.

Soon enough, me and Rez got to the towers front door and tried to open it. Unfortunately, the door wouldn't open without some kind of password. "Damn! What now!" I screamed with obvious panic in my voice. "Don't worry, I came prepared." Rez had said in a calm tone. And like magic, he pulled out a futuristic looking grenade from his pocket. Placed it at the base of the door, pressed a button on it and told me to take cover. I quickly ducked behind some turned over desks that were nearby and covered my ears. After about two seconds, a loud boom managed to rock the tower. Once the initial sound was gone, I poked my head out from the desks. And witnessed an explosion of purple flames, which was soon replaced with purple smoke.

Once the smoke cleared, the towers door was completely obliterated. And the smoke was replaced with the light of the outside world. After it became clear that there was an exit now, some of the prisoners began fleeing. While some stayed behind to keep killing guards. Rez looked at me. "Time to go kid, let's bounce!" Rez then ran out of the tower and I followed right behind him. Once outside, we ran to the large cliff face that was behind the prison. After we got there, we put on our boots, activated them, and ran straight up the cliff with no issues.

Upon reaching the top we took the boots off, put on our regular shoes. And then proceed to run for about thirty yards before stopping. Once we confirmed that no guards were following us, we both collapsed to the ground and tried to catch our breaths. Soon however, we both started to laugh like two friends remembering an inside joke. "Damn, that was simultaneously the most stressful and most fun thing I've ever experienced in my life." I said between breathes. "Your telling me kid, thanks for your help." We both sat up and I said. "No problem Rez, so....now what?" "Now, we get the heck off this insufferable planet." Rez pulls out a device from his jacket pocket that appeared to be a red button. He then clicked the button with his thumb and index finger. Instantly, it began blinking.

After about thirty minutes, three space crafts came into view. Two of them looked like black SUV's crossed with spaceships. While the third vehicle. It looked like a cross between a white limo, a hotrod, and a spaceship. The vehicles pulled up next to us, and the door of the limo opened up. Out stepped another chameleon man, but unlike Rez. He was dressed in a different kind of suit. This guy wore a black suit, a red dress shirt, a black tie, and had some kind of gold flower pinned to the left side of his jacket. "Boss!"

The new chameleon screamed, and proceeded to firmly hug Rez. "I'm so happy to see you, I just knew they couldn't hold you!" Once they separated, Rez began to address the new chameleon. " Of course, there isn't a single prison on this chain that can handle me. Besides, I didn't do it alone. Let me introduce you to my new friend." At that moment, Rez turned to introduce me to his friend. "This is my new friend, Nigel Nevermore. Nigel, allow me to introduce you to my right hand man and closest companion." Just then, Rez's friend looked at me and instantly bowed.

"My friends call me Maverick! I forever in your debt for helping the boss!" In that moment, I put my hands up slightly. "Oh....it's cool man, I'm just glad I could help." I said to him feeling kinda awkward. "Regardless, on behalf of myself and the rest of the Abscondian mafia. We thank you for what you have done." Once he said that, he stood up straight again. "No problem dude, honestly I'm just glad we managed to make it out alive." I said, still feeling relieved that we survived the whole ordeal. In that moment, Rez spoke up. "Which reminds me, let's skedaddle before The Interplanetary Fighting Force shows up." "Yes sir!" Maverick said with a salute and began to usher us into the pearl white limo.

Once inside, the limos extravagance began to really shine through. The interiors seats were made of very exquisite red and black leather. The floor appeared to be a finely sanded hard wood with a perfect lacquered finish. And finally, the interior was lit up by gold neon colored lights that were scattered about. "Woah!" I said in utter amazement. This was definitely way more extravagance than I was use to. "Pretty sweet, isn't it kid?" Rez said to me. "Yeah, it's definitely way better than anything I've seen before." I said still in shock. "Well, these are just the kinda things you can expect from being an intergalactic mafia boss. That, and various other things." He said while giving me a look that showed he was happy to leave such an impression on me. After getting settled in, we finally took off and began making our way through space.

During that time, Rez began to explain the details of how I ended up in The Tower. "I see, that must of been very difficult for you. Not many humans are even aware of other species in space, let alone something as intricate as the prison planet system. Well, other than this old man and his grandson we met one time. Oh! And this douchey Doctor guy as well, who was apparently a magician or something." Maverick said shrugging at his own statement. "That reminds me, Rez. You said before that The Tower was only one of many prisons on a prison planet chain. Can you tell me anything about them and explain what a prison plant chain is?" That was when Rez began to fully break down the whole thing for me.

"Before I begin my explanation, take a look out the window real quick before we get too far away." I moved closer and looked out the window just as he told me to. What I saw....was unlike anything I could've imagined. There was about five different planets that were semi close to one another. But the thing that really threw me off, was that all five planets were literally chained together. They were chained in a gigantic circular almost pentagram shaped fashion. The chains themselves appeared to be bigger than skyscrapers. "You know, considering what you told me. You got really lucky kid, The Tower is only the third most brutal on this particular chain. The fifth planet, is know as Talseta. Which is home to the prison known as Dusk Breaker, they send their prisoners to work in mines. Very brutal in terms of manual labor. Then there's the fourth planet, known far and wide as Mavaro. Home to a prison called Hazard, they have their prisoners work on disposing hazardous materials.

That place is very easy to die in with all the toxic stuff they have. Then there's the place we were, very famous for making people go insane due to a lack of exposure to natural light. Then, we have the second planet. It's called Varaso, home to the prison Factory World. As the name suggests, they have their prisoners do lots of metal work. Usually making parts for spacecrafts and sometimes weapons. And finally, we have the most brutal place of them all. It's planet Ziiro, home to a prison know as The Spiral. Not only is the planet a baron rocky wasteland, but it's also insanely cold.

Most of the cells in that place don't have windows to cover the bars. So high speed cold air is always running through the cells, not to mention. The cells are built out of stone, so if you don't go insane from the lack of contact with other people. You'll definitely freeze to death, plus. If your caught disobeying any rules, they punish you in the worst way possible. You see, at the center of this prison planet chain is a black hole. But, all the planets are chained far enough away that they don't have to worry about being sucked in. However, The Spiral has a cannon that they use to shoot any prisoners that disobey them into the black hole. Truly, a fate worse than death itself."

As Res explained everything, the more I heard. The more shocked I became, and the more I thanked the universe that I ended up where I did. Instead of any of the other prisons. "Wow...this is absolutely nuts." "Your telling me kid, all the more reason I'm thankful for your help." He said while placing a hand on my right shoulder. Afterwards, we moved back to our seats and continued talking. "So Rez, before. You said that you had a theory about where the gun came from, can you tell me more about that?" "I would, but as I said before. I'm not completely sure, thankfully. I know someone whose an expert on this topic, a scientist who works for me. I'm gonna introduce you to him once we get back to my place." "Sweet, can't wait to meet him."

Me, Rez, and Maverick decided to talk for a bit while sipping on glasses of whiskey. Courtesy of a hidden compartment inside the limo. And before we knew it, Rez's home planet came into view. "There she is boys, home sweet home." Rez said while raising his glass, and after we all clinked our glasses in triumph. Rez spoke again. "Welcome kid, to Faloora Fanuua. Mine and Maverick's home." I looked out the window in complete awe. Rez's planet appeared to be various shades of green and blue. With a light shade of green starting at the center, and morphing into darker shades of blue and green as it expanded outward.

Pretty soon, we began our decent to the planet. It was covered in vast jungles and forests, while still retaining a sense of the modern world. We began flying over a modern looking city, it was basically the equivalent of a city you'd find on earth. It was absolutely baffling to think that something like this could exist anywhere else in space. After flying past the city, we began going towards some hills that were just outside of the city. In my view, I saw a luxurious pearl white mansion that stood right next to a pristine lake. Instead of heading for the mansion, we began to head towards the lake. As we got closer, Maverick pulled out some kind of remote from his jacket. Aimed it at the lake, and pressed a button.

Within seconds, the lake began to part at the center. Revealing a hidden base under the lake. The limo, followed by the two SUV's entered the base. We landed on what appeared to be a helipad, and when we did. We were greeted by two rows of chameleon men bowing, and a beautiful red carpet had been rolled out for us. It stretched from the limo door, to an elevator door that was about sixty feet away.

When we disembarked from the limo, the rows of chameleon men stood up straight and saluted us. And in unison, they shouted. "Welcome back boss!" Addressing Rez of course, and he responded back. "At ease gentlemen, it's good to be back in action. But right now, I have some important business to attend to. Continue the operations like normal, and follow any orders from your superiors." In turn, they responded with. "Yes sir!" A shout almost rivaling the sound of a megaphone. "Also, let me introduce you all to my new friend Nigel here." He said while placing a hand on my shoulder. "This kid here is responsible for helping me make my great escape, and is my new personal close friend. Without his help, I would still be locked away in the wretched tower. So treat him with the same respect that you treat me with. I shouldn't have to remind you guys of the consequences for betraying me. "Yes sir!"

After that, me, Rez, and Maverick made our way to the elevator. When we got in, Rez spoke. "Hey Mav, hit the button for the lab will ya." "Yes sir." After that, we began our decent. "Oh, and make sure Nigel gets put on the white list. Don't wanna risk an incident happening." "It shall be done." Maverick pulled out what looked like a smart phone and took a picture of me. "I'll be sure to text this picture to security, and have them make everyone aware immediately." "Thanks bud, I know I can always count on you." "Of course sir." Maverick said with a warm and grateful smile. "So Rez, what's this scientist guy of yours like?"

I said with great curiosity. "His name is Doctor Horace Swiftly. He's a brilliant man, and has even studied under some of the smartest minds in the universe. All around, he's a really good guy." As if on command, the elevator dinged. Signaling that we had made it to our destination. We were greeted by a huge white room filled with all manner of scientific equipment. And at the very back of the room, a chameleon man in a white lad coat seemed to be welding some weird metal contraption together. As we got closer to where he was, Maverick audibly cleared his throat.

Thus, making the scientist aware of our presence. Upon which, he stopped welding. Took his goggles off, and began speaking. "Ah, Rezar sir. So good to see you, what brings you to my neck of the woods?" "Doc, I have someone I'd like you to meet." "Ah yes, the human that just got put onto the white list. I got a text update earlier from security about it. It's very nice to meet you young man, I'm Doctor Swiftly." We shook hands as we greeted each other. "Nice to meet you, I'm Nigel Nevermore." "The kid here is the reason I was able to escape, but funny enough. He found his way into prison completely by accident."

"Hmmm....interesting." "Yeah, one minutes I'm inspecting an alien crash site. And I find this weird looking gun, the next minute I'm jumping through a portal to escape an explosion. And somehow I end up on planet Nophon, and I get captured." "Weird looking gun you say?" The scientist said both inquisitively while also sounding surprised.

"Yeah, I still have it thankfully." I unzipped my bag and handed the gun to Doctor Swiftly. Upon seeing it, the Doctor's eyes grew as wide as tires. Even Rez and Maverick seemed to be in utter shock by the discovery. I proceeded to look at all of them. "What? What's going on?" I said, addressing all three of them. After a few seconds, Rez finally spoke and broke the silence. "Geez kid, based on what you told me back at the prison. I had my suspicions, but I didn't think that I would actually be right about this." "Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on!?"

Right at that moment, Doctor Swiftly spoke up. "Boy, this device is known as the M.M.T. Gun. It stands for Multiverse Matter Transporter." "Wait, multiverse!? So, your telling me that I'm not just in some distant galaxy. I'm in a different universe! But...how!?" I couldn't help but be absolutely dumbfounded by this discovery. Never in my life that I think that I would be able to travel to different universes. Eventually, the Doctor broke me out of my thoughts. "How in the heck did you get this?" That was when I told the doc the full story, dead aliens and all.

Upon hearing about the dead aliens, the Doctor's face grew really grim. "I see...such a tragedy. Never in my life did I think that they would actually lose the war. Such a shame, but it'll do us no good to dwell on the past. However, this whole experience is still rather surreal." "So, what's up with this? It seems like you know something about the dead aliens I found doc. Can you tell me more?"

In that moment, Doctor Swiftly began to tell me the whole story. He said that the aliens I found were known as the Argantians. The first species to ever invent multiverse travel, and on top of that. The universe that they originated from, is actually the first universe to ever come into existence. The Argantians were super intelligent and had a highly advanced civilization. Because of this, they travelled to various universes. Trying to help others advance their societies and create everlasting peace across the multiverse.

One day, an evil conquerer came to their planet to ask them to aid in his conquest. He had discovered their creation of multiversal travel, and not only did he want to conquer their universe. But he wanted to conquer the entire multiverse. The Argantians refused to help someone so evil and vile. And told him that they had no interest in committing such atrocities. The mysterious conquerer was not happy by their choice. And soon, they were locked in all out war. Pretty soon, the Argantians began recruiting various races across many universes to help stop this evil. Eventually, the Argantians found their way to the current universe I'm in, which is called universe F-833. Which is how doc and Rez had recognized the gun, because they had asked the Abscondians for help at one point.

Sometime ago, they had actually lost touch with the Argantians. They were worried for a while because they thought the conquerer had won. But based on the circumstances now. Doctor surmised that the Argantians must've attempted some kind of final assault and failed. And in doing so, their ship must've been damaged in the process. Which is why they crashed into my universe during their escape. "Damn." That was all I could say after hearing the Doctor's explanation. I mean, honestly. It was hard to explain how I felt in that moment. I mean, this isn't the kind of thing that happens in everyday life. This whole thing was way out of my field of expertise. And because of that, I didn't know what to say. Luckily for me, Rez broke the silence.

"Well, with the Argantians gone. Even though it is a great tragedy, at least that evil tyrant can't escape from his universe. Which also means, since you found the gun. The key to multiversal travel now belongs to you kid." After that, Doctor Swiftly handed the gun back to me. "Are you sure?" I said, feeling hesitant to except the gun back. "Rezar's right, it's not exactly ideal. But if not for you, we never would've known what happened." The doc said. "Plus, you said that before you ended up on Nophon. That you went through a bad breakup right? Why not use this as an opportunity to start over, why don't you go out and see what the multiverse truly has to offer." Rez said with encouragement clear in his voice.

In that moment, I remembered the sadness from my breakup with Alisha. But also, what Rez had said began to resonate with me the more I thought about. This is my chance to start over, I've basically been given the keys and means to do absolutely anything I want. Back home, in my original universe. I lived at home with my parents. Even though I was only nineteen, to me. I didn't like where my life was, and the breakup just made things worse. But now, I have a chance to go see things that people could only dream of. And maybe, just maybe. I can use this chance, to try and find myself. Metaphorically of course, I'd rather not make things complicated by dealing with other versions of myself.

I looked at Rez and Maverick for a second, then back at the doc. "Okay, your right. I humbly except this gracious honor and tremendous responsibility." I said while getting the gun back. "Thank you all for this, I can't wait to see where this will take me." I said with excitement clear in my voice. "Before you go, your gonna need a few things." The Doctor said with equal excitement, as he rushed off to a nearby computer and began typing. "I'm gonna create you some gear to help with your travels, you'll definitely need it." "Really? Wow, thanks doc. I am forever in your debt." "There's no need for that dear boy, just promise me you'll come back some day and tell me all about your travels and experiences."

"I will doc, thanks again." "Well then, now that that's all settled. If your gonna be traversing the multiverse, we're gonna have to throw you a kickass going away party!" Rez said in a tone, that conveyed he was happy to have an excuse to flaunt his wealth. "Really? You sure about that Rez?" "Of course, after everything. I'm more than happy to, think of it as payment for helping me get back to my amazing crew." "Thanks Rez, I'll never forget this." "Hey, like the doc said. Just don't forget to comeback and tell us all about your adventures."

"You know, I couldn't ask for better friends than you guys." I said while almost tearing up with joy. "Any time kiddo any time. Maverick, let's begin the preparations." "Yes sir!" Finally, Doctor Swiftly turned to all of us and spoke. "Yes, creating your gear will take a while. I suggest you do whatever you can to prepare yourself in the mean time. Also, would you mind leaving the gun with me while I do this? I'm gonna need it in order to create some of your stuff, plus I wanna examine it and make sure it's functioning properly. "Yeah, sure. No problem doc." I said as I placed the gun next to his computer. "Alright kid, let's get going. We got a helluva party to plan!" Rez said with great anticipation.

"Right!" I followed Rex and Maverick back to the elevator, and we began our ascent. When we made it to the top, we got off the elevator and found ourselves in a forest clearing. I looked behind us and saw that the elevator we rode was hidden inside a large tree. After taking a few seconds to be amazed, I turned around and saw Rez's luxurious mansion. It was a mix of various shades of white, with the most prominent one being pearl white. Along with lines of gold every so often. "There it is kid, my wonderful home. Whatcha think?" Rez and Maverick both turned to me with baited breath. Waiting to hear my answer. "What do I think? This place is awesome! It's at least forty times bigger than the house I lived in in my universe." Rez responded with some hearty good natured laughter.

"Well I'm glad you like it, let me show you the inside." We began walking to the mansion, and when we got there. As soon as we began walking up the steps, the large gilded double doors began to open. We were greeted by a lush red carpet, and pure white marble floors. Along with a row of ten butlers, and a row of ten maids. As we walked in, they greeted us in unison. "Welcome back sir!" After which, they bowed briefly and immediately stood up straight. When we got inside, the doors closed. An older gentleman and an older lady who had closed the doors, then greeted us as well.

"Welcome sir." They said in unison, then only the older gentleman began to speak. "It's good to see you again sir, I hope you are doing well." He said with politeness that would rival that of a British man. "Yes, it's so good to be back Jakob. But right now, we have important things to do. Tonight, we're gonna throw my friend Nigel here a going away party! And we're gonna make sure it's the best party ever!" He said with such happiness, that it rivaled that of a child receiving candy for the first time. "Very good sir, I shall begin preparations immediately." He said while bowing. "Good, for now. We'll be on the back porch talking, bring us a drink will ya?" "Right away sir." After the exchange, we made our way to the porch at the back of the mansion.

When we got there, me, Rez, and Maverick made our way to a glass table. It was large, round, and had a monogram R.J. printed on top of it. I set my bag and weapons off to the side and sat down. As soon as we sat down, Jakob the old butler. Brought out a bottle of fancy whiskey, three glasses, and a bucket of ice. Followed by one of Rez's maids bringing out a box of cigars. Rez pulled out one of the cigars, clipped it and put it into his mouth. Once he did that, Maverick pulled out a lighter and lit Rez's cigar for him. After which, Maverick pulled out a cigarette for himself and lit it. Then, Jakob poured each of us a drink. I couldn't help but be in awe, the whole exchange really began to illustrate the kind of power that Rez held. Rez noticed me and asked.

"You smoke kid?" Almost sounding surprised. "I do, just not cigars or cigarettes." I then grabbed my backpack, and took out the bag of marijuana I had stashed away and showed it to Rez. "Hmmm...interesting. I've never seen this stuff before, what is it?" He said with intrigue. "Traditionally, it's called marijuana. But normally, it's just called weed for short." "Weed huh, and you smoke it?" "Yup, it's really good for things like body aches, headaches, anxiety, and a lot of other things. And, it doesn't do the body any harm at all." "Really!?" Rez said both inquisitively and excitedly. Almost like he might of discovered a new business venture.

"I will admit, it does give you the munchies. Plus, some people don't like the smell. Although personally, I think it smells fantastic. Other than that, no real draw backs." Rez then opened the bag and smelled it. "Woah....that...smells...heavenly! Mav, take a whiff of this!" Rez then passed the bag over to Maverick. "Holy crap, you weren't kidding! It smells amazing!" "Well, you guys wanna try some?" "Heck yeah!" They said in unison. Afterwards, Maverick handed the bag back to me. And I pulled my acrylic bong out of my backpack and set it on the table. "Hold up, what's that?" Rez said while pointing at the bong. "It's called a bong, or a water pipe to conservative types. Anyway, it's literally the best way to smoke weed. Speaking of which, can I get some water? The bong needs it in order to work."

"No problem." Rez looked at the maid who was still holding the cigar box, she bowed and left. And within seconds, came back with a glass of water and set it next to me. After she did, I poured the water in the bong. Loaded a bowl, and grabbed a lighter from my backpack. "Now, before I do this. Make sure y'all watch carefully, cause theirs kind of a particular way you gotta do this." As I said this, Rez and Maverick made sure to watch me carefully. I put my lips up to the mouth piece, lit the bowl, and began inhaling as the chamber filled with smoke. After a few seconds, I removed the bowl and inhaled the last of the smoke. I quickly put the bowl back into the bong and set the whole thing on the table.

After that, I inhaled some extra air and held it for a few seconds. Then, I began to exhale slowly and smoothly as possible. Releasing a huge cloud of white smoke. I did end up coughing a bit, but thankfully it wasn't as bad as previous times I've smoked. "Ahhh....now that's more like it." I said, feeling a huge wave of relief wash over me. I slid the bong over to Maverick, and he repeated what I did exactly. He then passed it to Rez, who also repeated the process with equal precision. They both ended up coughing like they were gonna vomit, thankfully they didn't. I couldn't blame though, since they were first timers and all.

"Holy crap, you weren't kidding. This stuff is amazing, I can feel my muscles and my brain relaxing. This is the first time in years that I've felt this calm." Rez said while relaxing into his chair. "Well, I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. I know I haven't felt this good in a while." I said while also relaxing into my chair. "Hey kid, is there any way we can make a business out of this?" Rez said while slowly taking a sip of his drink. "Actually, there is." After that, Rez and I began discussing plans for a joint weed business. Ha! Joint....anyway. I gave him some seeds I had and eventually taught some of his men the process and care it takes to grow weed. And since we are partners in this, I would get money every so often. After all the business talk, we had an amazing party for the next two days.

Rez spared no expense on food, or even entertainment. And of course, we smoked, chilled, and overall had a really good time. Never in my life did I ever think I would get the chance to get high and party with chameleon aliens. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Eventually, like most things in the world. Things ended, and it was time for me to leave. On my last day, me, Rez, and Maverick were back in Doctor Swiftly's lab. All of my gear for my journey was finally ready. The doc had made me a new backpack that was about the size of a large duffel bag, but half the weight. Plus, it's super durable and capable of withstanding an explosion.

Next, he gave me what looked like an iPad. But it turns out it was a device to map out all the universes I had been to. He also preprogrammed it to warn me if I was in a universe I should avoid. So, if I ended up in one. It'll tell me immediately so I can leave. Next, he gave me a large tent and packed it in my bag for me. He said if I couldn't find a place to stay in the universes I landed in. That the tent would have everything I needed and it would provide me with accommodations.

Then, thanks to his efforts analyzing the gun. The doc managed to make some really interesting things for me. First, he made me a special watch that would make it possible for me and the doc to communicate in case I got stuck and needed help. Next, he gave me a little device that looked similar to a smartphone. But it was actually a universal currency converter. This made it possible to have funds transferred to me for my journey, no matter where I was. And, it would allow me to convert any funds transferred to me. Into the currency of the universe I was in.

It even allowed me to do that in reverse as well. Lastly, the doc loaded a crates worth of these small metal canisters into my bag. Apparently, they were energy cartridges for the multiverse gun. The Argantians gave them to the doc just in case anything ever happened and they need emergency batteries for the gun. On a full battery, the gun was only capable of making four universe jumps. And with the canisters, I don't gotta be too worried about getting stranded anywhere. Next, the doc told me that the gun got slightly damaged in the crash. So I won't be able to select the universe I wanna jump to, it'll all be random.

I told him I was okay with that, it just makes things more fun. The final thing that the doc gave me was a USB drive, he said he found it in the box of energy cartridges he got from the Argantians. He didn't check it, but he thinks it might contain important information. I remember seeing a USB port on the back of the gun. So I told the doc that I would check it out later and let him know what I find out. "Well kid, I guess you got everything you need for your journey now. It was nice getting to know you." Rez said with sadness clear in his voice.

"Don't worry, this won't be the last time you see me. I still gotta come back and tell you guys about all my adventures after all." I said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood. "Farewell young master, thank you for everything." Maverick said with tears in his eyes while also bowing. "Thanks Mav, it was awesome getting to know you and everyone else. I can't wait to see where this journey will take me, I know that it won't be easy. But that just means things will be that much more fun." With that, I fired the gun. A silver ring appearing, signifying it was time. With my supplies and weapons all packed, I began walking slowly to the portal. Right before I went through, I looked back at the guys and saw them all waving goodbye and tearing up. I gave them a final smirk, signifying that I'm happy that I met them. And silently promising to come see them again.

I stepped through the portal, and finally began my journey. I always thought that something like this would only be a dream, but not anymore. Now, I'm on a journey. To find my paradise somewhere in the vast multiverse.
