The Great Evil Approaches

Damian stood on the great wall facing the sea, his gaze fixed beyond the horizon. He was waiting, needing to bide his time before becoming the magical king of humans.

"My lord, what will we do now that we have control over all the most powerful noble houses of the north?" Wilson, now very old, looked at Damian, who had remained young. His gaze, full of dignity, was also overflowing with respect.

Damian did not return the look and said, "It's not the time yet. Too few years have passed, and my students are just beginning to rise to power."

"Twenty years have passed, my lord. I believe you are no longer considering human time as significant since you became immortal."

"I know. You've aged very quickly." Damian knew that his most loyal servants would die in at most another twenty years, and although their children would take their place, things would not be the same.

In this generation, everyone sees Damian as a leader, but in the next, they will recognize him as more than a human entity to follow. Of course, not everyone knew his true identity, and this information was reserved only for high-ranking officials.

Damian had to ensure that the information did not leak prematurely.

Some might wonder, Who is the ruler of the lands in the far north whom the demons have avoided bothering?

Rumors travel, but soon there will be suspicions that Damian is immortal. His life and power have increased over time, so every demon understands that if they attack these lands, a war that would end the demons would break out.

"How much longer will you let that demon king live?" Wilson was interested in knowing the answer.

Damian thought carefully and said, "Another five hundred years. I need to take control of all the lands and be recognized as the Mage King to be taken seriously. You know better than anyone that we humans will reach our end if we don't have a common enemy."

This was the reason. He didn't want to kill the Demon King because he wanted to harness all that pent-up anger to create a united world and a powerful army.

The demons of this large piece of land were not his only enemies; there were more beyond these places. "The sea is vast. I will send a fleet with our visitors who are about to depart."

"Are you going with them?"

"It's still too early, maybe in another five hundred years." Damian knew he needed to take his time.

If he rushed things, they would go wrong, so he must remain calm at all times.

But at that moment, from as far as Damian could see, he felt a terrifying presence spreading across the sky.

"What is that?"

Damian slowly rose into the sky and ordered, "Activate the magical shields; prepare for battle."
