Alex's gleeful face filled my line of sight, sickening me from the bottom of my stomach.
He spun the knife on his finger and glanced at Rachel.
"Can you go stand watch with Carter? Things are about to get ugly."
"All right."
She shuffled away slowly, gradually disappearing in the darkness.
From where I lay on the ground, I had a perfect view of Alex and the knife that would soon cause me immense anguish.
When we could no longer hear the sound of Rachel's footsteps, he smiled with all teeth showing, like someone who's very happy, but instead it resembled a wolf snarling.
My eyes were spewing out hate, wishing I could end him.
"What fearsome eyes. If looks could kill, I would be long dead, wouldn't I? But don't worry, I'll forgive you for your lack of manners."
He cut the part of the bonds holding my left arm and dodged when I struck out at him.
Chuckling, he grabbed my arm then twisted it.
"Ahh, ahh!"
I shouted in pain.
