[George's POV]
It all started at the when Professor A summoned me in the middle of self-study time and told me I had a meeting. I was bewildered and insisted that he had to be wrong, who was I supposed to be meeting?
I kept on trying to plead that there was no way I had anywhere to go but one look from him shut me up. He led me to a room and told me to put on the suit that was there. I really vexed him then, cause I asked him to help me put it on.
I can't help it, it's not as if I've ever worn a suit before, it's only natural that I wouldn't know how to put it on. He helped me change and took me to another room where Erina was waiting with a full menu of dishes in front of her.
I tried to turn around and leave, bur Professor A shoved me in and closed it after I stumbled in. I tried to open it, but then I realized I had actually never opened a door since I came here. They always open on their own.
That's the rundown of my current situation. Tell me, what's the right thing to do in this situation? She's looking at me with a sketchy look in her eyes, but that's just normal from what I've seen of her. The real problem is that she hasn't said anything since I sat down.
How do I make sense of this girl? She's quite the enigma and someone who likes puzzles would be quite tempted to try and figure her out, but I'm not one of those people. In fact, I've always hated puzzles.
So tell me why I should put up with this blatant stalking that I experience because of her.
As of right now, we're engaged in a staring competition, and neither side is yielding an inch.
It's time to put an end to this charade!
I cleared my throat and started to probe for information.
"May I ask why I've been summoned?"
She giggled, and I hate to admit it, but she is quite charming, and replied.
"What's with that language? You make it sound like you don't want to be here."
But I really don't want to be!!, I screamed inside my heart. However, due to fear of how she can adversely affect my living conditions, I refrained from saying that.
"Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not really sure of the circumstances around our meeting this time, so I would be grateful if you could clarify it for me."
She picked up a pasty and took a bite.
"Seriously, stop it with the politeness. You're starting to make me regret spending a request on you."
As she wanted, I stopped with the courtesy and talked about my real questions.
"Why did you call me? You know I don't want anything to do with whatever debauchery you're thinking of."
She chuckled.
"I merely want to create a harem, that's all."
Those words made all the assumptions I had made disappear into thin air. There was absolutely nothing in my mind, but the word 'harem'.
There was nothing for me to say, but I was actually a little disappointed. A tiny, tiny part of me was hoping for a confession of love. It was unrealistic and almost certainly not something that could happen but a guy can hope.
She burst into laughter at the incredulous look on my face.
"Did you really believe what I said? Do you think I actually want to create a harem? Don't be ridiculous."
At her mocking, my back stiffened and I responded in a tight voice.
"We hardly know each other, so it was only natural for me to take your words at face value."
Her laughter was winding down, and she made a few more chuckles.
"True, true. You're right. We don't actually know anything about each other. So I would like to ask you, what would you say if we actually knew each other?"
"Wha...do we actually know each other?"
"Maybe, But why should I tell you if we do? After all, we don't know each other, do we?"
"God, you're so infuriating. How am I supposed to converse with you if you're always making me think and second-guess you?"
"You're full of good points today, aren't you George? You keep on bringing up arguments that I can't refute."
"That! Exactly that! That's what I'm talking about! If you want us to understand each other, let's just talk normally! I can't understand shit of what you're saying!"
That's a foul mouth you have. you know you don't actually have to spew out such obscenities?"
"What I choose to say is none of your business."
"That's true. So let's stop talking and enjoy this food. It would be an insult to whoever prepared it if we were to ignore it."
We paused in our chat and got to the food.
After we finished, I got up to leave but she stopped me.
"Just a moment, please."
"Why?"
"I just have something I think you'll find interesting."
She picked up something beside her and handed it to me.
"If you're leaving, at least take this with you."
It was a small book that looked quite old. I turned it over and looked at the cover. It was titled 'The Controversies of The Legend of The First Emperor'.
"What's this?"
I tossed it back to her.
"I'm not interested in books."
She practically threw the book at me this time. She looked somewhat frustrated.
"Just read it. You won't regret it."
With that, she swept past me and left.
When I walked out a few seconds later, she was nowhere to be seen.
I looked around in confusion.
What the hell is that girl?
Professor A appeared behind me.
"Let's go."
He started back without waiting for me. I had to jog to keep up with him.
Before we turned the corner, I couldn't resist looking back one last time at that little room.
I turned back and looked at the book in curiosity.
I wonder what this is about?
