.

Here I was being stared at. By a cute child with his Sky Blue eyes. Those pure and unblemished eyes, made it impossible for one to look away. Even I, a King, was captivated.

A few moments later, the child seemed to understand he had been staring at a stranger. So, he gave me the brightest smile I had ever seen. Then he did a noble's curtesy, albeit a bit clumsily. Though it enhanced the child's unique charm.

I smiled and nodded in return. He seemed fascinated by my features. And I can't blame him, this might be the first time, he is seeing an Elf. A royal one at that.

We royal elves have some different features. Mainly our hair and eyes. Ordinary elves are usually blonde with brown eyes. But we royal elves are the closest to Nature spirits. Our hair and eyes are naturally green.

And as I had predicted, the child said, "Hello, sir, my name ish Luchiean. What ish your nem~"

Dear spirits! How adorable this child ish, I mean, is. I replied with a smile, "My name is Syrus. You are very cute Lucian. You are almost as adorable as my baby."

He blushed a bit and said, "Thankyuu. You are vewy pritty. Your baby should be vewy pritty too."

I was surprised by the child's intellect. I smiled unknowingly. I wanted to test something.

I took out a feather like leaf from my crown. It was a leaf of the World Tree. These leaves are precious and practically indestructible. Unless they are exposed to demonic Miasma. The reason I took the leaf out, was because I wanted to test the child in front of me.

In Elphagan, we test the affinity towards nature of young elves using the leaves. If the leaves glow after the test, even if it's only a dim glow. It shows that, you are favored by nature, thus having natural affinity.

The deeper and brighter the glow, the greater the affinity you possess. The royal elves are born with enough affinity that, they can light up a large chamber, simply with the glow from the leaf.

The great Sage, had sent me here, he wanted me to try and mend the relationship we had with humans.

I had questions about this, but didn't voice it. I mean, why would we start mending the relationship with Rorengar and not with Borvania first. Borvania is basically housing the Elven Forest. Even though the Elven Forest is an independent territory, it is confined with Borvania.

I simply threw the questions at the back of my head. And came to Rorengar. Earlier, I had a conversation with the king of Rorengar. And he talked about an few ideas and I shared some of mine, but from both our perspective, we can see that, the relationship will not last long this way.

We decided to meet again in a few days after thinking about the issue.

The elves and the humans can't trust each other so easily. Not after all those wars…

But right now. After watching this child. I formulated a plan. If this child has above average nature affinity, I will betroth him to my darling daughter.

It's hasty? Yes, it is. But we elves have gifts of nature. We can observe many details, which aren't visible to the ordinary man. Royal elves can distinguish the aura of people. No, not the fighting aura of the warriors. But each person has their own unique aura. And it defines their personalities. And young Lucian here has a warm aura, that makes me feel welcomed and at peace.

I am afraid, his aura is even drawing me towards him. It is simply remarkable. Thus, my decision was made.

As I gave the leaf to the child, I honestly felt anxious. For some reason, I really hoped Lucian has some natural affinity. My guts told me he had, now I only had to wait and witness the results.

Lucian was studying the leaf, curiosity evident in his eyes. He then took the leaf and closed his eyes. That action surprised me, to test the affinity, one needed to concentrate on the leaf. And the easiest way to do that, was to close your eyes and try to feal the leaf's aura.

And no sooner my astonishment passed, I was stunned, by a bigger shock. The leaf was glowing.

It was glowing bright.

Too bright for human standards.

I was looked at the scene with my eyes peeled. If I didn't know any better, I would question whether the boy was of elven kind or not.

The glow was truly too bright. It was comparable to ordinary members of the royal line.

I was astonished, then shocked, then happy.

Lucian opened his eyes and looked puzzled. I took the leaf from him, and asked with a jovial smile, "Lucian, would you like to meet my daughter one day and be the best of friends?"

He stared at me for a while, then he smiled brightly, "Mnn, suure I will be her besht fend."

The child truly was cute… I don't know if this is the right thing to do. But this will make the relationship between our kingdoms more stable.

And, we aren't really losing at the deal. This child will grow up to be exceptional.

'Sylphette, hope you will be happy with Lucian. I truly hope.'
