[AN: This will be semi-informal, with some of my comments in between, but if I'm being honest, this is also for me, because I can't remember for the life of me what history I have established, even if I wrote it in a google doc... (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻]

New Era: The year system used by the people in the book, similar to how we use B.C.E./B.C. and C.E./A.D.

20 years before the New Era, there are 3 countries on the continent of North America, and 0 countries on South America. However, there are a few small settlements on South America. There are practically no people living in South America though because of the massive amount of waste that has been dumped in South America from North America.

[A-ahem, United States... I didn't say anything... ◕‿↼]

It's around this time a famous University 're-discovered' magic. Because of this discovery, the world was sent into overdrive to incorporate Magic into their countries. Many countries began researching various ways to utilize it, such as generating power, or weaponize the magic.

Around this time, one unnamed scientist came out with a study that alarmed many people across the globe, that the more magic that was being casted, the more natural wildlife and plant life would mutate.

With this study, countries in North America sent many teams to check on the magical waste they had sent to South America, only to find it was still radiating magic, and had mutated much of the plant and animal life in South America.

Learning that Magic waste would still mutate nature it was exposed too, the rest of the world began dumping their waste into the ocean instead.

Present day, there are several areas in the ocean that are inaccessible due to high concentrations of magic mutating nearby sea-life into monsters.

Several years later, the United States of America devolved into tyranny after a coup by the president in an attempt to remain in power.

Succeeding in his bid for power, President Johnson began waging war to expand the territory of the United States.

Quickly taking over the entirety of North America, the rest of the world began scrambling to prepare for the eventual invasion of their own countries.

Having built an extensive network in the shadows, President Johnson pulled some strings and eventually World War 3 broke out.

During the war several countries fell and several countries rose from obscurity to world power status.

Almost succumbing to Johnson's machinations, several countries banded together to create a coalition against Johnson. With the coalition's efforts, eventually the tides of war were turned against Johnson, pushing all the way back to the North American continent.

Realizing that his chances of world domination were shattered, Johnson decided to use the rest of his nuclear bombs to just completely decimate North America, hoping to take as many people as he could with him.

With the end of the war marked with an event that had over 500 million casualties, the worlds political map was completely re-written.

Asia was now unified under one warlord, Alexander Vladimirovich, having coming into power after unifying Asia after it fell into anarchy.

Africa was now also unified under a strategic genius, under the name of the Empire of Africa. The Empire of Africa coming into existence after Africa was swept into the world war. However, after being unified, Africa didn't just sit still, eventually catapulting itself into world power status.

Europe was now called the European Coalition, and was ruled by a high consul.

Australia was now the People's Republic of Australia having annexed all of the nearby islands during the war.

During post-war research, a revolutionary spell was discovered, allowing magicians to cast a shield around themselves to defend against non-magical objects and explosions, practically making bullets and bombs obsolete.

After many years of peace, Asia was once again thrown into chaos with the death of Alexander Vladimirovich, having died without naming an heir. Because Alexander didn't name an heir, Asia was thrown into a war of succession.

Eventually reaching a mutual agreement, the war in Asia reached an end. However, the continent was now divided into two separate countries, the Yang Supremacy, and the Yin Kingdom.

Some Info on the Yin Kingdom:

Capital City of Novosburg 150 square km (60 square mi) in size

(Officially, there are still some people who live outside the outermost wall, but that isn't included since it can't be measured.)

All 17 Pillar families live in the capital of Novosburg.

Royal family's surname is Mstislavich, having taken on a different surname after splitting from the Yang Supremacy.

The 17 Pillar families are:

Noragi, Mitsuya, Seigi, Ichijou, Nijima, Ivanov, Kusanagi, Hanamiya, Kuznetsov, Wang, Jiang, Yoshida, Toshinori, Ishikawa, Yatsushiro, Liu, and Zhou.

The Yin Kingdom has 9 academy cities.

Every year, the Yin Kingdom holds a competition between the schools. This broadcast is one of the most popular broadcasts every year.

After the Nine Schools competition, there is also a Thesis competition where losing schools will try and regain their honor by showing their academic superiority.
