25 Her Name (10)

The rest of the day passed in a blur of terrible names and avoidance. Iris found many hiding holes she hadn't noticed before all throughout the apartment. While within them, she kept plotting her next morning's adventure. Everything had to go perfect then.

In the evening, Kyro once again brought her into his bedroom and closed it so Lucifer wouldn't be able to enter. He seemed to trust his cat, but not one hundred percent so. He didn't want them seeing each other while he was asleep.

That was fine for Iris. She wanted to be around when he woke up… for various reasons.

When Kyro fell asleep, she sneaked out into the study. Since there would be little time in the morning for mistakes, she wanted to practice a bit. There was no need for the computer to be on if she were to just try clicking some keys.

Or would have if Kyro had left her a venue for it. Why did he have to put everything in order before going to sleep? The chair was pushed right to the table, so how was she to get up on it? There was no way she could jump to the table just by herself.

Disheartened, Iris retreated back into the bedroom. The evil man, did he know about her plan and purposefully got in her way? No matter, in the morning, he won't have it so easy. She would lie down by his feet and make sure he wouldn't be able to push the chair in!

Sleep came in moments, and soon it was morning. An ear-splitting alarm clock rang. Iris covered her ears, complaining in a loud voice, but the ringing of the alarm didn't stop. It went on and on, and on…

After a full minute of the horrendous sound, Iris could no longer take it. She stood up and rushed to Kyro, ready to throttle him for making her suffer through this. Why wasn't he turning the damned thing off?

He was asleep! The alarm on his phone was only a hand's reach away from him, yet he still managed to ignore it. Iris stopped, rooted to the spot by amazement. This had to be some sort of super power. She knew of people that found it hard to wake up, but they at least turned the alarm off and fell asleep again, not ignored it.

'That's not the point!' she suddenly shouted to herself. The sound was annoying HER, that was the problem here. With her keen hearing, it was almost impossible to even stand this close. Her animal instincts screamed at her to run and get away as far as possible, where the sound wasn't so deafening.

But that wasn't an option. The alarm would ring every day, and she wasn't going to keep running every morning. That would be so annoying! She had to teach him to turn the thing off, no other way around it.

With this newfound determination, she jumped on Kyro's back. In her mind, this should have woken him up instantly, but alas, that wasn't what happened. Well, nothing happened in truth. There was no sign that he even noticed it.

'You!' Iris screamed, but her voice was drowned out by the continuous ringing of the alarm. If he couldn't hear that, then her screaming certainly would have no effects either.

This required drastic measures.

She tried reaching him with her nails, but even the light blanket was thick enough to protect him from them. Since that was no good, she begun jumping on his back, running it up and down. Still nothing? She stopped by his head and hit him with her paw.

The next instant, Kyro's hand came swatting her off, and he turned to lie on his side, pulling the blanket higher. His breathing remained steady, giving no sign that this action had been anything more than an unconscious reaction to a fly buzzing about.

Iris seethed where she lay on the other side of the bed. So now she was relegated to being no better than a fly? Something to be swatted away as he wished?

'The nerve!'

Without much thought, she pounced on him, teeth sinking into his ear as her little nails scratched at his jaw and back of the head. He wasn't going to ignore her. Or swat her away. If she said he needed to turn the damn alarm off, then he better do it!
