Chapter 28 : The Way to a Man's Heart

James and I sparred for some time before we returned to my suite. I had come outside to get some exercise and clear my head, but my brain felt even more occupied by Loral than before.

By the time I was seated in my chair, I still hadn’t quite figured out what was going on with me. I looked at the file on my desk and once again found myself spending over five minutes on the same first page.

James came over. “Alpha, any instructions for the border patrol?”

I cleared my throat. Normally I would have completed reviewing what he dropped off earlier, but today, I could not have been more unproductive.

“Why don’t you give me an overview of what the issue was?” I asked him in return.

“Surely. It was reported that everything seemed to be fine other than some small-scale tornadoes…”

I looked at James knowing that he needed some feedback, but I was still trying to make sense of why I couldn’t get the image of Loral sparing hand-to-hand with her bodyguard out of my mind.
