Chapter 12 : Livy, I Love You

I relaxed in the back seat of the car next to William as we were driven to the police station. I sat quietly trying to wrap my head around the fact that A, he knew this entire time that he would be in a dangerous situation, and B, he was part of the secret police.

“Daddy, I never knew you worked for the police.”

“Well, you’re not supposed to know,” he sighed.

When we were escorted into the station, I was separated from him briefly and asked to give a statement. Then I mostly waited while William finished giving all of the information that he had concerning the event over to the investigators.

As the night ended and the dawn brought in a new day, I smiled and looked at the time. I caught sight of William and saw that he was safe and alive. A few cuts and bruises were evident on his face and arms from the fighting that had ensued the previous night, but nothing looked serious.

Relief washed over me as fresh tears sprung to my eyes. William was saved!
