Beginning of Greatness

Hicks begins flipping through the book starting to read

(Argent)

"What are you doing?"

(Hicks)

"I'm trying to understand this technique and I'm pretty sure studying it here doesn't make it easier"

(Argent)

"Idiot your supposed to absorb the technique"

(Hicks)

"How am I supposed to absorb a book?!?"

(Argent)

"It's not a real book! Just place your hand on the book and imagine absorbing it"

Hicks holds the book firmly and imagines absorbing it. The book lights up and turns into bright particles that disappear.

(Hicks)

"I don't think it worked"

Then suddenly words start flowing into Hicks' head. The words are from the Elemental Dragon Technique

(Hicks)

"Wow all the words are in my head but how is this supposed to help me"

(Argent)

"Jeez you are so clueless, well I guess you wouldn't understand since your a mortal. Well now you have the technique cataloged in your head and can study it anytime and you won't forget it. Now you can cultivate the technique while also reading it.

(Hicks)

"Ah that makes it so much easier, that way I don't have to read a few lines cultivate and then stop and go back to reading"

(Argent)

"For a mortal you sure learn quickly"

(Hicks)

"I see, well I better get to work"

Hicks sits on the floor and starts cultivating.

Two hours later

(Hicks)

"Ok I'm finished"

(Argent)

"Really so quickly what did you learn"

Hicks stands up and surrounds himself in a white aura then it turns red with electricity sparking around him.

(Argent)

"Hmm, this doesn't look like what I was hoping for, did you skimp through the lines?"

(Hicks)

"Well I didn't skip I just went over the first two pages and got bored"

(Argent)

"IDIOT GO BACK TO CULTIVATING IF YOU DON'T LEARN GHIS PROPERLY YOU'LL JUST BE AN AVERAGE DISCIPLE!!!"

(Hicks)

"What's wrong with average?"

Argent looks at Hicks in disappointment

(Argent)

I didn't become your teacher to make you average, I am trying to make you the God Of Fortune's successor. Please take this seriously!"

Hicks stands there thinking for a sec. he sits back down and starts cultivating again

(Argent)

*He went through two pages and was able to do that. Hm he may be much better than I expected. It has been two hours and he only got through two pages. Even a genius would have gone through 30 pages and only have been able to make a way weaker aura*

Back at the Grandmaster's isolation chamber Li Na walks in.

(Li Na)

"Hello Grandmaster, why have you called this young one today"

(Zhang Daoling)

Where has Hicksbess been these past few days. Have you heard anything about him?

(Li Na)

"Last time I heard of him was when I asked Guang De where Hicks was, he said he had seen him jumping over the border a few times."

(Zhang Daoling)

"Leaving without permission? Doesn't he know he can be severely punished for this?"

(Li Na)

"Should I go find him and bring him to you?"

The old Grandmaster looks at the floor thinking.

(Zhang Daoling)

"What do you think we should do Li Na"

Li Na blushes very faintly

(Li Na)

"Well, I think we should just observe him and see what happens"

(Zhang Daoling)

"Ok well then I leave that task to you. Starting now you will be observing him"

(Li Na)

"Very well... WAIT WHAT"

Li Na starts blushing severely and covers her face.

(Li Na)

"Sorry, may I ask why I need to do it"

(Zhang Daoling)

"Well you suggested the idea, I assumed you would take responsibility."

(Li Na)

Sigh "Very well, I we be off now"

Li Na leaves and goes towards Hicks' shack

(Zhang Daoling)

"Kids these days fall in love too quickly"

Li Na arrives at Hicks' place and hides in a tree. She waits there patiently waiting for him to come out.

4 hours later

Li Na is still watching his shack closely and waiting for him to come out

2 hours later

Li Na jumps down from the tree and goes to the front door. She reaches for the handle but then the door opens itself and Hicks comes out.

(Hicks)

"Ah hello there, what are yo doing he-"

Li Na jumps away and disappears

(Hicks)

"Uhm okay"

Hicks runs quickly to the border of the Pavilion. Once he gets there he looks around to see if anyone is there. He sees there is nobody there and jumps over.

Li Na is in a tree hidden in the shadows

(Li Na)

"What are you up to Hicks"

She follows him and sees him run into a forest. She quickly pursues him and leaps from tree from tree while Hicks runs on the ground.

They both run for around ten minutes till Hicks hears a rustling in a bush. He suddenly stops and looks in the direction he heard the sound. He sees a boar eating some berries off a bush

(Hicks)

"I haven't eaten in a while so some lunch would be nice."

He charges towards the boar but then an Iron Back Tiger jumps out and bites the boar's neck.

(Li Na)

"Oh no a Demon Beast I should go help him"

Li Na jumps down from the tree and prepares to dash towards the tiger. But then Hicks suddenly dashes towards the tiger

(Hicks)

"YOU BASTARD THAT WAS MY LUNCH"

Hicks prepares to punch the tiger but puts Qi into his hand. A yellow aura emits from his hand with electricity sparkling from it.

(Hicks)

"LIGHTING DRAGON FIST"

He punches the tiger right in the face. It get electrocuted severely and almost dies.

Hicks puts out his other hand and yells

(Hicks)

"FIRE DRAGONS FURY"

Then a tornado of fire encircles the tiger and when it disappears a bunch of ashes fly everywhere.

Li Na stares in amazement. A disciple that was the weakest not too long ago killed an Iron Back Tiger a 5 Bronze Star Demon Beast that gives Qi-Foundation Layer 5 disciples a hard time.

(Li Na)

"No way"

Hicks turns around and see nothing

Li Na is in a tree once again. She looks at him and blushes. She leaves to go back to the Pavilion

(Hicks)

"HAHA I LEARNED ELEMENTAL DRAGON SKILLS!!"
