Levels Of Danger (2)

3rd Person POV

"How is he?" Principal Von asked in a video call

On the other end was Arthur, the 2 principals are good friends and occasionally enjoy talks or calls during their free time, they once worked together and even though their paths differ at first, it all led them to the same position in the end.

"Great, he did not just master the basic talisman, but it seems that he can use the regular one as well." Arthur answered

"Well, do you reckon he's a part of em?"

"Who?" Arthur chuckled

"You know who." Von responded in a serious tone "No matter how good that kid is, heck you can even call him a prodigy, but learning to use the talisman at that level can't be self-taught, it's not impossible, but since he can use the regular talisman, something that even second years struggle with...the chances are astronomical."

"True." Arthur nodded in agreement "Basic talismans for beginners is one thing, but...for what he did, even if he isn't a part of them, there's a high probability that he's worked with them in the past."

"Crap." Von cursed under his breath "No matter how good our lawyers are, if Perseus is a part of that group, prison is the least of his worries."

"We can use him to get close." Arthur responded "That was the plan, right?"

"Still..." Von ruffled his hair "Damn it Ezra, what did you teach your brothers?!"

"Just brother in this case." Arthur corrected "Shawn seems to be innocent."

Perseus POV

The day went well for the rest of the day, it was mostly to lecture on how angels can overpower humans easily if we were to engage in close combat, so we were advised to fight them from a long distance...bla bla blah.

By dinner time, we have gotten our flight schedule for the deployment, so we just listed down what to prepare for then, like talismans and some gear.

"Yo bro, you okay in there?" Shawn asked as he poked his head into my room

"Yeah, what'd you need?"

"Just wanted to tell you to have a good night. So good night, we have a long week ahead of us."

"Yeah, good night to you too."

He left and closed my bedroom door, I then heard a click, meaning that he was going into his room and sleeping.

And so, for tonight, I took off my blindfold.

"Aren't you going to go on your walk?" A familiar older voice asked

"Nah, there's nothing for me to do here at the academy grounds."

I turned to see a man leaning against the closet in my room. He's about 185cm tall and looked to be in his mid-20s, he got dark brown skin, grey-colored eyes, and a shaven head. He is also wearing a dark grey colored armor with a blue interior.

"Well, it makes sense, this island is safe after all." he said with a nonchalant shrug "Why'd you show the principal that you can use the regular talisman?"

"You ask too much, Ezra."

"Well, I have to take care of my little brother, and knowing about his business is my job." he responded

"Well, as long as you don't interfere with my private time, like my time with my girlfriend or when I need to destress by myself, do whatever."

"You do realize I usually stray far away from you, right?" he asked "Heck, I practically vanish every time you put on the blindfold. And when that happens, I can barely hear bits and pieces, but I ain't seeing nothing."

"You're talking as if I understand how this works."

"Well back to my question." Ezra said and steered me back on the topic "Why didn't you hide your ability?"

"You said that these principals are talented enough to check a person's mana flow, right? They'll know if I was holding back."

"Yeah, but couldn't you have put on an attempt? You like being mysterious."

"I am not mysterious, I just don't like attention."

"And so you decided to do something even more attention grabbing?" he questioned

"I'll come off as naive and reckless, it's better that way, I'm only 17, I'm not some genius who deserves to be in a class of elites."

"Psh, you 2 are way more talented than me, and I was in class A." he waved me off "The downside was that the girl whom I replaced tried to kill me after graduation."

"I don't think that that's what you should boast about."

"Well, what about you? At this rate they'll think that you're a part of the...well..." he sighs "I might as well say it...they'll think you're a part of the Magic Salvation Syndicate."

Magic Salvation Syndicate (MSS), a group of people who are rebelling against the UPF, though they have the same goal of saving humanity and protecting Earth from attacks carried out by heaven, they wish for the UPF to train sorcerers from a younger age.

Though the MSS have plans on how to approach the idea of teaching kids from a younger age, the UPF usually counter them with the fact that kids learning magic from a younger age usually have a more unstable foundation that leads to an early death, 15 is the start of the safe age, but 17 is usually the legal age allowed to practice magic.

The syndicate doesn't necessarily harm humanity in any other way, but the UPF has put a bounty on their members as they have recruited many people into committing illegal magic practices which in this case, teaching magic earlier than the supposed safe age.

"Well, they can dig whatever crap they want, it's not like they'll find anything since I'm not a part of em."

"But you do have contact with them?" Ezra pointed out

"You seriously talk too much."

My tablet lit up and I can see my girlfriend giving me a call.

"Don't hang up." Ezra instructed "I'm already dead, talk with her, she's more important than our conversation."

"...Fine, alright, good night then, I'll be putting my blindfold back on."

"Yeah, you too." he replied as he then disappeared from sight.
