He ignored the word that only reinforced the fact that she had no idea how in love they had been. “We agreed to keep it under wraps until graduation but our close friends and family knew. The Cartier ring was temporary.”

“It- it’s a friendship ring,” she managed to say.

“Yeah, when you wear it on any other finger, it is.”

She tried to assimilate all the information she’d been given. She tried to take in that she had been willing to spend her whole life with him. Grow old with him and have his children..? Had her dream yesterday been telling her that?

She gasped. “Gary, I know this might sound stupid, but am I still- you know, am I still a virgin?”
