Just When Did It Start?

Seagulls crying as if flew and the strong scent of the salty sea were sensed as soon as Andrea got off the taxi. As soon as the taxi left, leaving Andrea on the deserted part of the west town sea. With her fairly small maroon suitcase, Andrea made herself all the way to the rocky platform— standing on the edge of it as she admired the glistening reflection of the sea.

Andrea smiled at the sound of the children's laughter as they ran excitedly on the shore. Andrea thought that if she will bear a child, maybe he will treat her better. But Andre knew that it was just a sweet fantasy of hers. A fantasy where she is in a world full of happiness and rainbow. But truth hit her hard when knowing what she dreamed of were far worse from what she was experiencing.

"Maybe I did deserve this. Being alive while my parents and older siblings were gone…. How selfish.." Andrea talked to herself with a regrettable tone and expression.

She then lowered her line of sight as she could feel her eyes getting heavier. Maybe because of the tears forming on it, ready to fall any second. Andrea can already feel a big lump on her throat as she continues talking to herself. "They always told me that it was my fault— maybe they're right. But still… I'm glad to be alive. Even being in this shitty life,"

Andrea said in a complete bitter tone as the tears started to race down her reddened cheeks. Feeling the hot tears on face, Andrea can only wipe her tears as she let out a soft chuckle which ruined her melancholic moment.

'I told myself not to cry but here I am,'

Suddenly, her phone rang as it frantically vibrated on her coat's inside pocket. Concluding that it was her best friend, Theo, calling; Andrea immediately grabbed the phone and answered it right away.

But before she could even say her greetings, a loud male voice then preceded before her, "Andrea! Just what the fuck happened to you in these past few days!? I can't contact you at all! You pathetic girl! You have one job but you keep on failing miserably!!"

The other line then started going at Andrea with rage visible on its tone. With this, Andrea furrowed her brows as she looked back at the caller ID. It was his cousin, Jared.

"...."

Andrea remained silent as she felt weary listening to the usual irritating voice she always bears to hear. Suddenly there was a weird rustling on the other line. Suddenly, a same raging tone of voice then greeted Andrea— but this time it was an older woman's voice.

"You ungrateful bitch! Just who will pay our debts!? From everything that we did to you and this is how you repay us!? When I see you, I wi—"

Before the older woman could even finish her sentence, Andrea cutted her off with a monotonous tone of voice.

"It's your problem not mine. Don't drag me with your mess."

Upon saying those cold words, the other line went into silence upon hearing those remarks. Because of that, Andrea has a moment for herself to reflect on what the older woman said.

'Everything they did, she said? They won't even look at me properly without giving me a mean stare,'

Andrea thought to herself as look at the cracked screen of her phone, staring at the caller ID with a weary look on her eyes.

"WHY YOU!!" Another voice interfered, an older man to be exact.

Even at times like this, Andrea's relatives will always think about themselves. Andrea has no choice but to obey them for they are her only family left. But now, Andrea just wants to be left alone. Even if it meant cutting off her only family.

"Don't you dare come looking for me, or else I will spread the crimes that you committed. I will go as far as I can so I hope we won't cross paths ever again."

With that being said, Andrea's uncle laughs as if she just said a funny joke, "Hah! You don't have the gut. Don't test me and come here."

Hearing that, Andrea's brows furrowed as she gripped tighter on the phone. WIth a confident tone on her voice, Andrea responded firmly.

"We'll see about that,"

Andrea shoved back the phone back to its place. Being on the sea calms her down but hearing her relatives' annoying voices just made it all go to waste. As the cold breeze from the sea went past her, Andrea took a deep breath to reset herself back. She just needs a fresh start, that's all. She just needs to go as far as she can, where no one can locate her. Especially her soon to be ex husband.

As Andrea swiftly turned around, she accidentally stepped in the bad part of the rocky edge. Andrea's eyes widened as she could feel herself falling backward. From Andrea's point of view, she can only grab from nothing on the air as she tries to save herself. But Andrea herself knew that it was useless. At those very seconds, Andrea felt like time was going slowly.

'Did I just slip?'

In a blink of an eye, Andrea found herself lying on the ground with an astonished look on her face. At first, the woman didn't feel any pain on her body— it was like she became numb for a minute. But then a pang of intense pain surged through the back of her head. A dark red liquid started gushing out of the woman's nape. At that exact moment, Andrea's vision started to faint as her body became paralyzed because of the intense pain she felt.

Andrea's sight began to start getting blurry as she was laying up, looking at the gray sky with an expressionless look on her face. Not even the look of pain was visible on her as she thought to her breath on her last breath.

'Is this how I die? In a pathetic way?'
