My mind was racing as I stared at the two Marine admirals. Suddenly I found myself having to make a decision. While I could understand why Dragon wouldn't tell anyone about Kuzan being a spy, I couldn't help but curse him in the back of my mind.
But when I looked towards the execution stand, I realized that Kuzan might be my best chance of getting my crewmate back alive. Gritting my teeth, I settled on a plan. If I wanted to talk to Kuzan in peace, Kizaru would have to go.
Holding out my hand, I pulled Kizaru towards me using my devil fruit. Usually, I would have never used this function, but I need to encompass him in darkness to defeat the light user.
Like an arrow fired from a bow, Kizaru shot towards me, but the surprise of the attack quickly faded, and the admiral turned to face me at my glaring moment of weakness. Before he reached me fully, I canceled the gravitational pull, but the admiral still moved towards me even though he did slow down.
Covering my sword in darkness, I ran across the ground. Kizaru was waiting for me as he formed a blade of light and clashed head-on with my elemental blade. There was an explosion as the two opposing forces of nature met, neither willing to back down.
As we pushed against each other, Kizaru pursed his lips before his lower half turned to a streak of light that whipped around, trying to kick me away. But I saw the attack and cover my arm in haki, taking the attack head-on, confident that my battle-tested defenses would hold firm.
The attack landed, sending a sharp lance of pain throughout my entire arm as an unimaginable heat cooked my flesh. Kicking off the admiral, I flipped before landing a few meters away.
My left arm was burned down to the bone, but I regenerated the limb as magma from my shoulder flowed over the wound, leaving behind a patch of unmarked flesh.
Flex my arm, I smiled, "I can see why Logia fruits are regarded as the strongest. It's a helpful ability to regenerate any body part. I'll get more use out of this devil fruit than Akainu ever could."
A moment after, the words left my mouth. The ground split apart as a mountain of ice erupted from the ground. Planting my feet on the glacier, I rode it into the air before it stopped several hundred feet high.
"Oh, a bit touchy, are we." I gloated as Kuzan reformed on the iceberg a few feet below me. Kuzan didn't say a word, only thrusting his hands forward to sending forth a faint wave of ice in the shape of a bird, its wings razor-sharp digging groves into the packed ice.
Smiling, I held out my hand, opening a portal and letting all the magma I absorbed from Akainu spill out to meet the incoming attack. There was an explosion of steam and blistering hot met piercing cold.
And as I stood in the aftermath of the destruction, I could see how Akainu and Kuzan could completely change the face of an island if they went full out. The smoke parted as spears of ice flew towards me, streaking through the air.
Raising my hands, I batted each aside with simple hand movements using the magma inside me to stop the ice from creeping onto my skin. After the swarm finished, I felt the temperature in the air dip even more than it had.
Whatever Kuzan was preparing next, it would be his most powerful attack by far. Holding out my hand, a white fluid began to drip from my palm that quickly hardened and formed a wall. I finished my defense just in time as the last of the steam faded away, revealing Kuzan cupping his hands around a smooth ball of ice.
Even from where I was standing, I could feel the heat from the surrounding air funnel into the orb. As Kuzan launched the sphere, I realized my defenses weren't going to be enough.
Creating a portal, I stepped through and teleported a mile away near the rubble of what used to be a marine fort wall. Looking to where I was battling Kuzan, I watched as a blizzard suddenly form around the area and began to sweep outwards.
Looking behind me, I saw the battle still raging on. I knew that any living being hit by that cold would die almost instantly. Slamming my hands into the ground, I poured everything I had into melting the ground, turning it into a sea of magma.
Straining from the effort, I roared and grabbed the floor and flipped it, causing the lava to shoot into the with tremendous force. Again the two elemental forces slammed together, but the power was akin to a bomb.
The explosion sent me flying, hitting the ground with such force that I didn't even skip instead. Like a hoe through the ground, I left a long grove in the floor before I hit the ocean, sinking into the fridge depts.
My eyes narrowed, and I formed a portal that caused a vacuum pulling in everything around in including me. When I entered the void, it felt as if I was falling, but there was no ground in sight.
Keeping my first portal open, I created a second that dropped me out right on top of Kuzan, who was still standing on top of the glacier.
I launched myself out of the pill as Kuzan raised his hand to freeze the water. At first, he was winning the battle, but I widened both portals dumping enough water to wipe away a city.
The first waterfall hit Kuzan, and I could see the effect the seawater had on him. In his weakened state, I took advantage and opened a portal beneath him, sending him into the void.
Falling to the ground, I wiped the salt water from my eyes wondering where my last opponent was.
