Cosmetics?

"Cosmetics".

I said with joy radiating from my face.

"Cosmetics"?

He asked with a confused face but I nodded my head, insisting that that was what I loved.

"I've always loved anything that had to do with fashion but cosmetics was always my best part".

"So you are trying to tell me that you enjoy making people up"?

I smiled and shook my head.

"That's not it Grandpa, I love making them".

I said but he looked at me with his brow raised.

"Have you ever tried making something like that before"?

He asked and I nodded my head. I noticed his look of surprise.

"I have never made any professional product but when I was working in a fashion company, I took an extra job to clean up their production rooms. I used to take their leftover products home and work with them".

I said. It wasn't something to be proud of but I loved it so I guess I found pride in it.

Grandpa O'Brien smiled lightly and nodded his head.

"You said you like everything about fashion"?

He asked as we began walking out.

"Yes, I do".

"Do you know how to make clothes"?

"Yes, I learned it a long time ago but the knowledge never left".

"Good enough, you'll go somewhere with me later this evening".

He said and before I knew it, we were back downstairs. When we got downstairs, everyone was seated in the living room, including Jason. He looked at me and I could not help the smile that crept down my face.

I bowed to Grandpa, left his side, and went to sit close to Jason. As soon as I got him, he held my hand and smiled at me. I wasn't sure if he was doing this because everyone was watching, but everything in me kept saying this was real.

There was a special seat reserved for Grandpa O'Brien. It looked like a throne made for a king. He went over and sat on the chair while the rest of us remained seated, waiting for him to speak.

"I see you both can't stay a few minutes away from each other".

Grandpa said looking at me and Jason. It made me feel so shy that I tried to remove my hand from his but he didn't budge.

"Too bad, I'm going to have to take her away from you".

Grandpa said and Jason immediately let go of my hand and sat up properly.

"What do you mean by that grandfather"?

He asked with a serious look. Grandpa looked at him for a while and soon after, he began laughing really hard.

"Oh my goodness, this feels so nice. It really does feel nice to see that you have someone you so desperately want to protect".

Grandpa said making Jason stiffen even more.

"If this is what I think, it'll never happen".

"Jason!!"

His father yelled at him. I could already tell what he was thinking. He thought grandpa wanted to tell him to break up with me and go with Melissa.

Honestly, I still had not fully believed that Grandpa O'Brien had accepted me yet. So I also had some doubt in my mind.

"I know what you are thinking Jason, but that is not it. I just need to be alone with her for a while this evening".

He said and I suddenly remembered he said he wanted to see me this evening.

"There is a saying, take a pig out of the mud and wash it, it is still a pig. The same goes for a diamond. Take a diamond and mix it with dirt or stones, and it will forever be a diamond".

He sounded so serious but I was confused. Was he calling me a pig or a diamond?

"What does any of that have to do with Nadia"?

Jason asked a bit more relaxed now.

"Jason, I want to believe that you know me well enough to know that I'm a businessman no matter the case".

Jason raised his brow waiting for what was going to come next.

"I approved of Nadia but I still like Melissa. For me to be able to approve of Nadia completely, I need to know if she was made to be a diamond or a pig. In other words, is she a princess or a pauper"?

"Grandfather! How can you call her that"?

"You still do not understand me Jason. I do not call her someone who is born poor or rich. I want to know if she has the mindset of a queen or that of a servant".

Grandpa O'Brien said and stood up.

"Just so you all know, not all that glitters is gold".

He then turned back to look at all of us.

"Not every wealthy man can be the king and not every wealthy woman can be a queen. If she is going to be my granddaughter-in-law, she must be ready to be a queen. That... is my only condition".

After saying this, he turned around and walked away.

'Not every wealthy man can be a king'.

That statement kept lingering in my mind. We had breakfast and I was not taking a walk around the mansion but still, it was that statement that flooded my mind.

He is right, if I can't be useful, then there is obviously no need for him to choose me over Melissa. I brought out my phone to check her out on the internet and then, I realized she was also into fashion. She was a goddess in the fashion industry. She made anything, and everything a lady would want to put on her body and seeing some of her brands, I couldn't help but feel more intimidated.

"Wah... she is definitely born to be a queen".

I said to myself as I kept checking her out.

"What are you doing"?

I heard a voice and immediately jolted back to reality.

"Ahh!!"

I yelled lightly as I wasn't expecting anyone to see me here. When I turned, I saw Derrick.

"Mr Derrick"?
