Forest of Doors

A young man gets lost in the woods and stumbles into the Forest of Doors. (Idea taken from A Nightmare Before Christmas where the trees have doors on them leading to the other holiday worlds. But in this one there are doors to all worlds from fiction within the Forest.) He finds a beautiful entity that grants him a power up and a reliable but quirky companion. With his newfound abilities he begins to explore new worlds and makes powerful enemies in the process... There wont be a Harem but maybe 2 or 3 girls. [Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters or stories that appear in this story. MC is original but takes the appearance similar to a trademarked character which I also do not own. This Fic is for my own amusement so updates wont be consistent. Please enjoy it for what it is. Thank you.

1 Great Fairy Fountain

[A/N: I was taking an extended break from my other novel. The first reason was because I was studying for my occupational licence at the time and the other reason was, it was a raunchy story I started when I was horni and I currently don't have the motivation to continue just yet. I was playing around with this story idea in my head lately and decided to start writing it. Let me know if you like the concept. MC will have a similar appearance to Link from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but will travel worlds and get some good powers. No harem but may have 1-3 wives in the future. Focus will be more on the adventures and pursuit of powers. Hope you enjoy!]

"Hello?! Can anyone hear me?!" The young man stumbled through the woods, yelling for anyone to hear him. The only sound he got in return was the wind rustling the trees around him.

The young man named Thomas shivered in fear realizing he had somehow got himself lost in the woods. He and his friends had been celebrating his 21st birthday with a bonfire party in the woods, only for the young man to get too drunk and wander out deep into the woods alone.

"ANDREW! MALCOLM! DANIELLE! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?!"

No answer came back after once again calling out to his friends. He slumped down next to big tree without really looking at it. It was dark anyway and the moon's light that penetrated the tree tops wasn't enough to allow him to see anything.

"Well what do I do now? Wait for morning or... Huh?! What's that?"

In the distance he saw a flicker of light that seemed to pass between the shadows of the trees and disappeared into the distance.

"That might be someone else. Hey! Hello! Over here!" Thomas got up and started following the light. He had to walk carefully in order to not bump into any trees.

He kept seeing brief flashes of the light as he followed in the direction.

After walking awhile he started to see other lights moving through the air, all moving in the same direction it seemed. He eventually came into a clearing and what he saw left him awestruck.

In front of Thomas was what appeared to what looked like a giant pond carved into a massive block of marble with glittering water in the center what seemed to ripple and splash with an occasional rainbow.

Surrounding the area were numerous flying balls of light. The light balls had little wings and fluttered around, creating a dazzling display of colors.

As Thomas walked into the area the little wisps floated closely as if curious about his appearance before continuing to flutter around the pool of water.

"Are those fairies? They look just like in that one video game where the player enters people's homes and smashes thier pots."

Thomas wasnt sure if he had been slipped acid or was having the most vivid dream he had ever had.

As he was lost in a daze at the scenery, suddenly a womans laughter was heard, starting Thomas.

He watched wide eyed as an wildly beautiful woman suddenly jumped out of the pond water. She lazily laid in the air, floating while comfortably observing him.

She had crimson red hair tied into a three pig tails and light green skin with only dark colored vines covering her private areas. She gave off a certain allure as if she was nature itself.

Thomas was in a daze at her beauty which caused her to giggle.

"It's been many centuries since a human managed to find this Great Fairy Fountain. I suppose the fact this one is located in this forest explains it though."

Thomas was still in somewhat of a daze and tried to think rationally about this. He observed the woman, the fairies, the fountain that had a triforce symbol engraved into the floor. He could no longer deny what sort of being was in front of him.

"...a great fairy." He murmured.

"Hm? Yes, I am the great fairy that inhabits this fountain. Have you been taught about us?"

"I guess...? I learned about you from a game. But I thought it was just fiction..."

The great fairy was interested but not enough to continue that line of questioning. Her gentle and melodic voice held disinterest toward his knowledge but also showed curiosity to Thomas himself.

"Are you lost child? This fountain resides within the forest that connects worlds. How did you come to be here?"

Thomas froze in disbelief before asking, "This forest... connects worlds? Can you explain."

"Yes... This is the Forest of Doors. The myriad worlds each make a connection with this place. Each tree in this forest is a conduit of the World Tree connecting to the myriad worlds that exist.

There are many worlds that hold incredible power, where legends become reality. There are some that are constantly in turmoil while some have everlasting peace.

However the forest itself is infinite but also holds great danger. You are lucky to have been lost in the territory of us fairies."

"The forest has many entities that control sections of the forest as thier territory. Had you wandered in there, the outcome might have been quite ugly."

Thomas absorbed this information with clear astonishment.

"Why did I end up in such a place... Uh miss... is there a way for me to go home?"

The great fairy gave him a kind smile but her answer made him almost cough blood.

"I don't know."

"Eh?! You dont know?!"

"Yes. I dont know since I dont know what world you are from. And there are an infinite number of doors. It would be like finding a specific grain of sand in a massive desert."

Thomas dropped to his knees in disbelief. He was just enjoying his birthday and got a little too sauced. How the hell did he end up in this twilight zone nightmare?

The great fairy held empathy for Thomas and decided to help him in exchange for helping her.

"Child, I can see you are in distress. I may not be able to help you get home but I can offer you protection in the form of a blessing if you want. In exchange you can help us by extending the territory of the fairies."

Thomas looked up and met with the beautiful fairies eyes. They held genuine concern towards him that made him feel warm.

"A blessing? And how can I help you with that?"

"One of the blessings I can give you will surely help you survive as you explore the forest. By visiting the worlds you can explore and lay claim to that area of the forest and increase our territory. Currently our territory had been pushed back by an unfriendly neighbor and if this keeps up we may end up having to retreat back into our world. But then our world would be at the mercy of outsiders. We fairies only want to keep peace in this forest by protecting the worlds in our territory. But others have more selfish intentions and use up the resources of those worlds for themselves."

"I see. And how do I claim those worlds for you?" Thomas was not in a position where he could do nothing. If what the great fairy said so far was true, he would not be able to find his way home easily and his life would be in danger whether he stayed at the fountain or not.

The great spirit answered, "Its simple. After I grant you the blessing, You'll also get a fairy partner to travel with you. They can be very helpful to you in many ways and are the key to claiming territory. Once you have defeated who ever guards the world on behalf of the owner then the fairy can cast the spell to take control for us. All that would be left is to move on to the next world or occasionally return to defend it in case of attackers."

I'll try to update when I can but will probably be at random times. I writing this for fun so dont expect alot.
