Chapter 24: What if he falls in love with you?

Liam just stared at me, every trace of anger he once felt was now replaced with so much concern and pain, I heard him mutter a curse several times as I talked about Ken and Abigail. It was the first time I was explaining what happened and how I caught my sis and ex in bed. I guess he thought I was over the betrayal and wasn't hurting anymore.

" Why? What happened? " He asked in a bearly audible tune now, I looked at him as he asked this.

" Well, After I went to the airport and was waiting for my flight take-off time, I got a call from Mr Kelvin and he had my dad. I had to choose between marrying him and my dad." I told him.

" He had your dad? He kidnapped him?" Liam asked in disbelief, in response I nodded. " My dad may not be the best but how could I let him hurt my dad, Liam, He's never been there for me but the only family I have left, I love my dad Liam. He even had Hadassah, how could I let him hurt her?" I didn't know tears were already dropping down from my eyes as I spoke. Liam was by my side the next minute and was hugging me "Shush... It's okay Lis, you did the right thing. I was so selfish to get so angry at you without knowing everything, You went through so much and I had no idea, am so sorry Lisa." His voice broke too as he tried to comfort me and I just cried. When stayed like that for another 20 to 30 minutes " Did he hurt you or force himself on you?" I felt his arm tighten around me protectively as he asked. I wouldn't blame him though, who would believe I'd stayed in the house for almost two weeks and he didn't touch me? " No Liam, he didn't do anything to me." I answered but he wasn't assured, he pulled away a little to look at me directly in the eye " Are you sure Lis? " he whispered like he was scared of my reply, I nodded and he sighed and hugged me again, I smiled at the gesture.

" What are you going to do now? Do you want to keep living as his?" He asked after he finally broke free from our embrace.

" I don't have an idea, It's like I'll just tell him I want a divorce and he'll just agree to it. I feel there is more to why he married me." I was deep in thought now.

" Why do you think so?" From the look in his eyes, I could tell he was thinking the same. " At first I thought he married me because he wanted my body but that doesn't seem to be the case, he's very nice to me and has never as much even forced a kiss on me throughout my stay in his house so if he didn't marry for that reason then why did he? There are many women out there who would be more than happy to marry for his wealth so why force me?" I asked.

" Have you spoken to your dad since the marriage?"

" Not really, He called many times and left many messages but I neither called back nor replied to his message. I was so mad at him that I didn't want to talk to him." He nodded his head and gave me an understanding smile.

" You can take your time okay but at least hear him out when you're ready okay?" He said gently and I nodded.

" I think the first step to getting a divorce is to find out why he married you. After you find out why he married you we'll out something." He said as a dark look crossed his eyes, I couldn't figure out what he was thinking but whatever he was thinking wasn't pleasant.

" You're gonna have to promise me one thing, Liam." I needed him to assure me he wouldn't do anything stupid.

" What do you want Lisa?" He asked in a gentle tone.

" I want you to promise me, you won't confront Mr Kelvin about this, I don't want o get you in trouble Li." He smiled at me and nodded, I knew Liam could be a thickhead when he get really upset. We chatted for another hour about school and our internship, he was going to start his internship in two weeks. He wasn't sounding as excited as he was when he first told me about anymore "Liam, did something happen? You don't sound as excited as where anymore."

" Nothing happened, after hearing what you're going, I feel very reluctant to go there. I wouldn't be able to see that often, I'll die of worrying" Concern written over his voice. " Would you have told me about this if Abigail never told me?"

" Don't worry Li, I'll be fine. And yes I would have told you when I had things sorted out" I assured him with a smile but I knew I was far from having things sorted out. He looked at me like he was going to say something then turned his eyes away again, I think he was contemplating whether or not to say it, but I knew him better than anyone "What do you want to say, Liam?" He looked at me again as I asked this, he hesitated for a while before asking " Don't you get scared he'll do something to you?" I couldn't help but smile. "Of course I get scared, it was even worse when I first got there" I smiled as I thought about when I had taken milk so he wouldn't have sex with me " One time took milk because I heard a knock on the door," I said with a wave of my hand like it wasn't really serious but I knew the amount of fear I felt then, I didn't know the old man was going to be this nice to me. I don't even know if he's been nice or if he has his agenda and was just waiting for the right time to pounce on me.

" You what? Why would you do that? " He knew how much I could be in from taking lactose-containing substances. I was suddenly remembering the incident and his arms... I shook my head to snap out of it immediately

" It was the first day we got married and I thought he was coming to ..." I didn't complete my sentence but he knew exactly what I meant. He stayed quiet for a while before saying " I'll do anything I can to get you away from him Lis." I smiled and nodded.

I needed to get divorced as soon as possible, I didn't know how to make it work but I certainly was going to get a divorce.

" How do you think I can get to know why the old man married me?" I asked Liam, he was good at figuring out things.

"He is an old man yeah? The best way I think would be to get close to him, but I don't want you to do that." He answers looking away from me.

" Why don't you want me to if that's the best way?" I asked.

" What if you get close to him and he falls in love with you? Do you think he'll ever divorce you then?"
