" Should we tell Liam about this?" We were walking to class as Hads asked. I had been thinking about this same question.
" Honestly Hads, I don't know. I've been feeling bad for not telling him but you know Liam, he wouldn't mind rushing to Mr Kelvin's office to go confront him and it will not be okay for him and his family. " I replied as we entered the class
" He will be so mad at us if he finds out on his own Lis," Hads said to me as we took our sit. " We'll find a way to tell him without him overreacting." I didn't know how I was going to tell him and he won't flare up.
We finished the morning classes and went for lunch after which we went back to class. But Liam didn't come to wait for us and we didn't see him in the cafeteria.
" Isn't Liam in school today? we haven't seen him since morning. Did he call you?" I asked Hads as we walked out of the class.
" He didn't, Let me call him." Hads took out her phone and called Liam. Hads was on the phone for a minute before hanging up.
" He got a call this morning from the company he applied for an internship and had to go there. He said to tell you sorry he didn't call" Hads informed me.
" Okay, I'll call him later. It's been a while since we all hung out." I told Hads remembering I haven't hung out or stayed out late chatting with Liam like I used to.
"We used to have so much fun until you got married. Now it is just school, coffee shop and back home. I miss those days we would stay out late just chatting in the coffee shop or at that bar we hung out in close to the coffee shop." Hads said as she smiled at me.
" I miss the games too, Hads when did I get so boring?" I was pouting now. " We should hang out on Friday, luckily the old man may not be home, I pray he goes out to another girl," I said grinning cheerfully. Hads chuckle as I said this and I joined her.
I went to the coffee shop and Hads went home promising she would come to the coffee shop before I closed up. The coffee shop was very busy and customers kept coming in. I had been in the coffee shop for 3 hours and I had just finished serving a group of customers when the old man walked in. If they were anything beyond surprise I was it.
My heart was in my hand and I could feel it beating as he walked in, I was so shocked the tray slipped out of my hands and I stared at him with my mouth open as he kept walking towards me.
" Are you okay Miss Melissa? " Amanda rushed to me. Amanda was one of my employees. She was in high school and worked part-time after school. " Am okay Amanda" I said with a wave of my hand. My eyes didn't leave the old man as I spoke to Amanda.
He walked to a seat and sat down, his secretary was with him too. I looked outside and saw two men in black suits standing outside. As usual, he never goes anywhere without them. I have to go to school every day with Gab and Edward, Edward and I have never really spoken. He just nods with a bow when he sees me and I nod back.
I rubbed my eyes with my hands and looked there again and the old man was still sitting there. I rushed to the counter immediately as it could hide me. " Waiter?" came his deep voice.
Amanda rushed there to take their order but came back to meet me. " Ma'am?"
" Yes Amanda, what's wrong?" I asked her clearing my voice. I was still in shock from seeing the old man in my coffee. Why was he here? Why on earth did he come to my coffee shop of all places when there are even bigger places he could go? He probably thinks am working here though cause even my dad doesn't know I owned the place.
"The old man that just came in said he wants you to serve him."
I nodded as she told me this and went to meet him. ' Did he have to be so dramatic' I thought shaking my head.
" Hello sir, What would you like to have?" I was sounding formal like I haven't met him before. " I would like an Americano please" He replied staring at some documents. ' I hissed mentally, trying to act nice' I thought " How about you sir?" I asked the handsome secretary who smiled broadly before saying " Latte macchiato please". I nodded and left.
I came back 5 minutes later with the coffee and served them. I turned around to leave " Wait, Mrs Kelvin, let me see how good my wife's coffee taste." He was smiling wickedly. I looked around immediately to be sure no one heard him. " Can you not call me that here please?" I pleaded with my head bowed.
" Are you not my wife? Why can't I call you that here?" He looked at me now, the wicked smile was back. I was about to reply when Liam walked into the cafe. ' What!!! why was he here right now? what will happen if he found out? I can't let him get close to the old man I froze at the thought.
" Lis! Lis! Come here, Lis." He was sounding so excited like he won the lottery or a gold medal, I guessed that his interview went well. I bowed slightly to the old man before rushing to Liam. Liam carried me up as he hugged me and spun around. I was telling him to drop me down but soon his excitement got me laughing and I started laughing loudly.
"Awn... what cute couple" A customer murmured and I came back to my senses, I looked towards the old man and I saw two pair of eyes looking at me like they would pass through me. Liam dropped me and was now and was telling me about his interview. I looked in the old man's direction and saw him still glaring at me. I was scared but when I thought about how he brought a girl home the previous night I shrugged and held Liam's hand and lead him to a sit
" Am telling you, Lisa, I was so scared. But then the lady was so nice to me. She made me feel so at ease." Liam was smiling happily as he told me this. " And her hand was so soft when I shook her" At this Liam with both my hands and was feeling it. I knew Mr Kelvin couldn't hear what we were saying and would assume all sorts of things as he kept glaring at me. But I didn't care, I kept talking with Liam. " We are so celebrating this Lis, what do you say?" Liam asked looking at me expectantly. " I dunno Liam, I need to go home on time," I told Liam. " Come on Lisa" Liam pleaded holding my hand and giving me puppy eyes and I laughed loudly.
