Vino opened his eyes slowly. He felt a little heavy and squeezed in his chest. As he was about to lift his back, he saw Vira's head resting on his open chest. He was wearing a T-shirt, but the girl seemed to be pulled in, her body resting against his stomach muscles.
Vino lowered his head again, keeping one arm behind his head.
"You perverted woman," he smiled a little, tilting his head slightly so that his wife's face was calm against his chest. "You deliberately made me faint, then enjoyed me passed out."
Vira had fallen asleep on his chest in a sitting position; it seemed she had been taking care of him all day long. Vino waited for his wife to wake up, holding onto his supine position, staring at the ceiling of the room.
He hid his smile, trying to hide his happiness, and glanced at his wife's face with bright eyes. When was the last time he had been this close to a woman? As close as this? Vino had never felt relaxed with a woman. But with Vira, he felt different.
Vira slowly moved her head. That was when Vino instantly closed his eyes, pretending to still be asleep.
When his wife lifted her head and covered his exposed abdomen, Vino could feel her movements in his body. He tried to restrain himself.
Vira stretched out her hand to check his forehead and sighed with relief when she felt his body heat had dropped.
She rose from her position and went toward the kitchen.
Vino peeked with one eye open. He saw Vira's back fade behind the wall towards the kitchen. Not long after, the sound of footsteps startled him. He adjusted his sleeping position, pretending to sleep calmly.
Vira returned with a pillow and blanket in her hands. She intended to change his blanket and pillow, but she was surprised. The last time she saw Vino lying on his arms, now his hands were folded over his chest. Something felt odd.
"Vino," called Vira, sighing heavily, then threw the pillow and blanket onto the other couch. "Are you awake?" she asked with a suspicious and weary face.
Vino pulled a smile, slowly opening his eyes. He tilted his head and looked at his wife's tired face with a broad smile.
Vino was ready for his wife to go mad and get angry because he had pretended to be passed out.
Vira took a deep breath.
"Thank goodness you're awake. Do you still feel dizzy? Or is there a part of your body that hurts?" Instead of being angry, Vira looked concerned.
The woman sat on the edge of the couch where her husband lay.
"You fainted. Your face was so pale. You made me worry. You have to tell me important contact numbers. I don't know anyone here, I don't even know your family's contacts. What if something bad happens to you?"
Vira's voice trembled, making Vino speechless.
"I... I don't have anyone in my life..." She looked down, fiddling with her fingers, her face sad. "I'm afraid that you'll leave me too..." Vira whispered in a low voice.
Vino lifted his body, resting on his elbow. "I'm sorry I made you worry. I was tired and didn't get enough sleep," he said.
He looked at his wife's sad face. "Ah! I was dazed because of that jelly from my father. He's too much!" Vino hissed, holding his head.
Vira immediately brought her face closer. "Should we go to the hospital?" she asked anxiously.
Vino shook his head and smiled. "No need. Jelly is not poison. It's just that you can eat it only if your body is healthy and fit." Vino quietly put on an annoyed face. It seemed he realized what was in the jelly Broto sent them.
"You shouldn't eat anything from my father, especially when you're tired and stressed. All of that should only be eaten when we're healthy and happy!" Vino said seriously.
Vira nodded in understanding. "I made porridge for you, would you like to eat?" she asked attentively.
Vino nodded. "After I wash my face. It looks like my face is a little sticky. I feel something wet sticking to my face."
Vira swallowed hard. Didn't he remember?
Seeing his wife's blank face made Vino confused. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Vira quickly shook her head. "It's okay, I'll prepare porridge for you," she said, rising from the edge of the couch.
Vino held his wife's arm, making her surprised.
"Is something bothering you?" he asked, lifting his head to look at her.
Vira didn't turn around and shook her head. "Nothing. I'm glad you're better. Don't work too hard," she said, pulling her hand away as she walked off.
Once again, he lost sight of his wife behind the wall.
Vino raised his eyebrows and smiled.
He rubbed the hair on his forehead, his heart thumping fast.
"Ish! How could I forget? She kissed me with passion!" Vino whispered, his face blushing.
He bit his lip and sighed heavily. "Looks like my fever hasn't gone down," he said, then lowered his leg. He glanced at the kitchen again, smiling happily.
Hadn't Vira already left earlier? Then who was the woman standing in front of him now, with her arms crossed over her chest?
Vira's face looked tense, her expression full of annoyance.
"Vino, during these three days, have you asked a woman to dress you?" she asked sarcastically.
Vino blinked several times, looking at his wife's face, which looked a little scary.
"Why didn't you knock on my door? If you can't wear a tie and a suit, you could have asked me. Why ask someone from your office?" Vira hissed, irritated.
Vino couldn't answer his wife's scolding. "She called you earlier. And I had to pick up your phone calls. I didn't know you were a man who liked to hide womenโ in the apartment, in the office, then where else?"
Vino couldn't answer. He instantly checked his cellphone.
Incoming calls from the office.
Vino was surprised to see his wife's annoyed face. He was sure it was his secretary who contacted him, Mr. Kim.
"Does he use a woman's voice to tease you?" Vino asked.
Vira hissed, her thoughtful eyes narrowing. "You need to come up with a good explanation. How could you ask random girls to dress you?" she said irritably.
"Call me if you need help!" she half-yelled, leaving behind a confused Vino.
"Kim, what have you done?" Vino smiled instead. "But that wasn't so bad!" He hid his face behind the cushion. "Looks like I need a lot of help from Kim!"
