After George talked with the doctor and filled in the paperwork, we were finally able to leave the hospital. Evie had fallen asleep in my arms while we were driving back to my penthouse. George decided it would be best if we started living together so that her memory would -and I quote- 'come back' sooner. I really feel bad but what's done is done and there's nothing I can do about it...

I look down at her. She is so calm, so oblivious of everything that's happening around her...

When we arrived at the building, she was still sleeping so I just picked her up bridal style, and walked inside. The elevator ride was silent but then I felt Evie moving. She didn't wake up though. She was probably dreaming.

She moved again and that's when she started mumbling things in her slumber.

She was having a nightmare.

"Evie, it's just a dream," I whispered in her ear but she wouldn't listen to me. She started moving more intensely and she was now screaming.

"NO! IT'S NOT TRUE! It can't be..." she said the last part lower and then tears started falling from her beautiful eyes. Her eyelids were still closed.

"Evie! Wake up, it's only a dream..." I said again, a bit louder this time in order to wake her up.

She shot up and she looked around not knowing where she was. The moment she realized I was the one holding her she relaxed and wrapped her arms around me tightly. She was sobbing and she cuddled up in my chest more, if that was even possible.

"Shhhh... Everything will be fine. You don't have to worry about anything, I'm here now." I said trying to calm her down.

After a while, my comforting words started working and she calmed down a bit. She was still shaking though.

"Let's go inside, shall we?" I asked when I heard the elevator's 'ding'. She didn't respond she just nodded and she removed her head from the crook of my neck to look around.

When the elevator doors opened her mouth made an 'o' expression and I tried to hold back my laughter. She looked so adorable, like a kid walking in a candy store.

She must have noticed it because she frowned a little and then she hit me playfully on my chest.

"It's not funny!" she said with a frown, a cute one if I say so myself. We both stared at each other's eyes for a while, not moving at all. I leaned in but she turned her head around so I ended up kissing her cheek.

"Now will you show me around?" she asked me and the house tour started.

After looking around the large living room, and briefly visiting the outer pool, due to the cold, we were finally moving towards the last rooms of the penthouse.

"And, last but not least, this is the master bedroom," I said while entering the enormous room.

"Oh! It's-it's beautiful..." she said but I felt that there was something bothering her.

"Hey... Is everything okay?" I asked in concern.

"Yeah... I'm just hungry. Can we order something?" she replied quickly.

Way too quickly.

"Ok! How about-"

"Pizza!!" she yelled excitedly. After considering all her options, Evie finally decided what kind of pizza she wanted and I made the order.

"So what do you want to do till the pizza gets here?" she said.

"How about we get to know each other again? I mean, you can get to know me cause I sort of know everything about you. What do say?" I suggested. Not quite what I wanted to say, but I couldn't exactly express my other thoughts on what to do while waiting for the pizza. Not without sounding like a complete and total ass.

"Fine. I guess it will be nice learning more about my 'other half'..." she giggled a bit and then looked at me once more "So, your name is Alexander and you are a big lawyer, and you like pizza." she started and I chuckled at her comment about pizza.

"Tell me, what do you want to know?"

I felt weird talking about myself like that. I hadn't talked to someone about stuff like my favorite movie or band in quite a while and I must admit it was nice. Odd, but nice…

"Let's start with the basics. So, favorite color?" she asked.

"I would have to say blue."

"Now isn't that a surprise? I would expect you to be more interested in black, considering that the majority of your clothes and furniture are black."

"Now that I think about it black would be a more suitable answer, but if I'm being honest I fancy blue more." She let out an instant laugh.

"Why are you laughing?" I asked confused.

"Who talks like that? 'Fancy'? Are we in the fifty's?" she said and laughed even harder.

The pizza came after about half an hour and Evie claimed that she had learned everything about me. We talked a little, we ate, and then we watched some Netflix. Turns out Evie loves thrillers.

So here we are watching 'The nun' in absolute silence.

"You okay?" Evie asked suddenly and stopped the movie.

"Yeah... I'm fine. Probably too tired. Wanna go to sleep?" I asked her I saw that she got a bit uncomfortable.

"Um…" she was trying to say something. She opened and closed her mouth all the time but nothing came out. Her discomfort was evident and I realized that she was worried about our sleeping arrangements.

"I understand. You can take the bed, I'll just sleep in another room." I said to help her relax and in a matter of seconds, I saw her relaxing.

"I can't just throw you out of your bed! I'll take the-" she started saying but I cut her off.

"Don't even think about it. You're taking the bed and that's final. Now go get some sleep. The doctor said you needed to rest." I kissed her forehead and she stood up and walked away.

It's been a couple of hours since Evie went to sleep, but I just couldn't. I was sitting in front of my glass wall staring at New York's night sky.

So peaceful...

My mind was filled with thoughts about what I was doing. God did it feel wrong… This may be an arranged marriage, but it doesn't feel like it, though. It's like I am taking advantage of her -which I am- and the worst part is the fact that she feels bad for not remembering me. I am certain I'll be going to hell for this.

A scream was heard throughout the penthouse pulling me away from my thoughts.

Evie.

Without a second thought, I ran up the stairs as quickly as possible and rushed through the door. I saw Evie tossing around in her bed, screaming and sobbing. I was by her side in seconds. I held her close to me and whispered to her that everything is going to be ok, that she doesn't have to worry. She calmed down after a while and continued sleeping.

"Everything will be fine. I won't let anything hurt you…" I whispered and when I placed her on her pillow to sleep, she frowned and held me closer.

"Don't go. Please stay…" she said and I thought that she was still talking in her sleep. All my doubts vanished when I looked down at her and saw her eyes wide open. I saw those big brown eyes looking at me, pleading with me not to leave her.

"Hey, did I wake you?" I asked her.

"No, it's not that. Actually, thank you. If it wasn't for you, I would still be tortured in that dream. Thanks..." she said but I knew that she was not comfortable with the closeness we had so I stood up and walked to the door.

"Good night, Evie. Sweet dreams!" I said and opened the door.

"Stay!" Her words made me freeze.

"Are you sure?" I asked her.

She nodded and looked at her hands. I could see her flustered cheeks, and smiled lightly.

Evie eventually chose the right side of the bed. After tucking her in, I got under the covers beside her and she immediately cuddled in my chest, her body fit perfectly in mine.

It looked like we were made for each other, it felt like it, but then why am I feeling so guilty...
