Chapter 16: It's Not What You Think

"Hmm, Hi Richard." I try to hide my shock at seeing him with another woman. I didn’t anticipate running into Richard here. I heard this restaurant was one of the best in town and wanted Laura to get a feel for the competition in case she decides to work as a chef and baker for Hilltop.

My mother has a little saying, “everything happens for a reason,” and maybe it was meant for me to see Richard here today. Maybe the universe is trying to send me a sign that Richard is playing games with me. Maybe Mr. Dubois is right and I need to stay away from him.

Time for a pep talk. Ok, Claire, smile and act like you're not bothered. It's not like you're dating him. Besides, all you've done is kiss and let him caress your breast in the middle of a park. No biggie.
