It had already been three days since Samuel had visited Target's base. He couldn't find anything suspicious in the little amount of time he had when he went there nor could he kill or beat the shit out of any of those men involved and wipe out their whole base. Rage filled his body. His blood was boiling and he just wanted to kill, kill and kill.
He was mad not because he felt bad for the misled people but because he couldn't finish his job at once for the first time.
Selene, his sister's best friend, was to be blamed for it. She held him up for too long and perhaps Target felt his presence and became more careful since he had more men guarding the place than Samuel's men had told him. Maybe the place he went too was wrong? There was nothing unusual, although the place was too shabby for an operation to occur or for it to be a hospital. But is everyone as wealthy as he is? He was confused.
He removed his shoes and jumped into the pool in front of him with his clothes on. The cold, freezing water is all that could calm his anger. After all, his anger was like a burning fire. He could never control it and the thought of hurting his family because of it gave him chills.
"Sir." A young man dressed in black walked towards the man inside the pool.
"What is it, Younen?"
"I sent a few of our men to trace down Target and get to know all their whereabouts more precisely. However…"
"However?" Samuel raised his eyebrows as he glanced up towards Younen.
"They seem to be more complicated than the gangs we had to deal with before. They will cause trouble if we act hastily. We might need to wait until we find who is behind all this."
"No. We need to capture Target first. Then, he'll make him spill everything in our usual way. You know what I mean, right?"
Younen's expression soon turned pale and quickly nodded in agreement with his boss.
"Then, I'll send more men to capture him and bring him here."
"Here? No. Bring him to my personal house. We can't risk my family finding out about any of this and we can't put their lives at risk either."
"Ah, yes. Of course."
"Oh, and refrain from coming here." Samuel glared at the man standing on the floor. "Call me if you need anything. It's the first time you made a mistake so I'll forgive you. But there shouldn't be a next time."
"Yes, I'm sorry."
Younen quickly walked away from the Archen mansion with hasty steps.
"Brother?" Lysana walked down the stairs as she saw Samuel swimming in the pool.
Samuel stopped as he heard Lysana's voice and swam back to the other side. He got out of the water and gave a sign to a maid to bring him a towel.
"What's up?"
"I think I saw someone familiar here a while ago."
Samuel froze for a second. He quickly put up his usual fake smile.
"Who? There was no one. Are you daydreaming?" He flicked her forehead. "And don't even get started with ghosts like when we were younger. Ghosts don't exist, okay?"
Lysana shook his hand away from her forehead.
"Don't treat me like a kid! And I wasn't daydreaming! I think…" She started rethinking and doubting if she had actually seen someone. It could have been a hallucination, which isn't impossible. She often saw weird shadows in the house but there was never anyone. She couldn't even deny him and that only made her angrier.
"Okay, okay. Whatever. Dry yourself up." She rolled her eyes as she moved away from the stairs for him to be able to go upstairs.
"Yes, ma'am," Samuel teasingly said while chuckling as he walked upstairs with the towel the maid from earlier had bought for him.
Water dripped from his clothes but he couldn't care less. He was drying his hair with the towel and headed to his room.
Once he reached his room, he turned up the curtains, letting some light come into his room. He went into the shower and quickly took a bath to head out. He had another thing he had to do.
After half an hour, Samuel was ready to go out. He walked towards his car, entered inside and started driving.
Someone called him and he answered it through his car's phone.
"Hello."
"What's up?"
"You called me. So you tell me what's up, Dave."
"Oh. Haha. Right." David laughed for a few seconds before continuing. "So, we need you here."
"Where? I got something important to do."
"Chris isn't well! His girlfriend broke up with him! How could you ignore your friend like this?! You're such a bad friend! You should take exempl—"
"Shut up," Samuel cut him mid way. "Drama queen much. I'm coming."
"Hurry—"
Samuel hung up the call and sped up towards Chris' apartment.
He composed a number quickly.
"Hello, sir."
"I won't be able to make it. Reschedule the meeting."
"Alright, sir. I'm on it."
While Samuel was hanging up, he entered a road blocked by several cars. The vehicles around him were honking. There seemed to be an accident in front.
Samuel was tapping on his stir wheel but it was taking longer than he thought. Weirdly, there were no police or any ambulance.
He sighed and decided to check it out. He got out of his car and walked to where the accident took place.
It was an old lady. Her hair had a few grey strains on her dark black hair and she was picking up the fruits and vegetables on the ground. Samuel decided to walk up to her and help her.
To his surprise, it was a lady he knew. Gianna Iridessa. A very old employee of his father. He helped her get up.
"Are you okay?" He asked as he picked up the few remaining vegetables that were lying on the road.
"Oh, yes. My legs just lost balance and a car almost hit me. But I managed to avoid that." She replied with a bright smile while laughing at her own misfortune.
"Let me drop you home."
"Oh, no. There is no need for that. Thank you for picking up the remaining vegetables for me but that's enough."
"Yes, there is a need." Samuel held her arm and took her towards his car.
Gianna had no choice but to follow. She couldn't walk properly anyway. The bus stop happened to be quite far away as well. Additionally, the car drivers were getting impatient as well.
"Sorry for the trouble." Gianna sat inside the car as Samuel started to drive the car.
The traffic in front had slowly cleared up as well meanwhile, for which Samuel was glad.
"There's no trouble, ma'am. You work for my dad and it's my responsibility to take care of our employees since it's also my company, right?" Samuel glanced and gave her a warm smile.
"For your dad? Now that you say it… you do seem familiar… Are you… Samuel? My god, it's been so long since the last time we met I believe. Sorry, I couldn't recognize you."
"It has been a long time. We met a few times when you accompanied my dad abroad with his business meetings and such."
"Indeed. How have you been?"
"I've been well."
"Oh, take a left turn please. My home is that way." Gianna pointed out as she took her phone out and put her address on the google map.
Samuel left out a soft chuckle. He forgot to ask where she lived and he was about to drop her home.
" How foolish!", he thought.
Once arrived, she got out of the car and took her groceries with her. She then turned around.
"Uhmm… Why don't you come in? I'll make you a meal to repay you since I don't have more to offer to you. And I'm sure you didn't have dinner yet."
Samuel took a second to think. He would rather have dinner with this gentle old lady than having to deal with his drunk friends who would probably make his ears bleed with their bad singing and sad songs.
It was casual for them to make a big deal out of their break ups. He knows very well they were only messing around with them and weren't serious at all. They just wanted to experience heartbreaks for fun. Everything is for entertainment for Chris, mostly.
"Then, I'll accept your offer." He smiled brightly.
