Chapter 37

« At Riverdale Forest »

Alpha Jason and other members of Blood Moon Pack were already gathered in the center of the forest when Dylan arrived. He could tell that Alpha Jason was fuming in rage just by looking at his grim expression which was as dar as the bottom of a pot.

Everyone averted their gaze to Dylan who just came running to their spot. He was still in his werewolf form. Some werewolves who have knocked down a few minutes ago were now awake.

"Dylan, where have you been? What happened here? Where's the hunter? How come no hunters were caught in the trap? Why is it most of you were sleeping?" Alpha Jason asked them with his stern cold voice.

They could sense the fury in his tone. It was enough to send shivers down their spines by just listening to his voice. His bloodshot eyes were looking at them as if he was ready to rip their skins open. Alpha Jason looked very mad and frightening as of this moment.

Dylan didn't know how he would explain everything to Alpha Jason. He didn't want to reveal that Travis and his team were the ones who sabotaged their plan tonight. He didn't want to implicate the whole White Claw Pack or else, Alpha Jason would not hesitate to attack Travis's village.

Alpha Jason was not forgiving. What he hated most was being deceived by others or being betrayed by people most especially if they were of the same kind.

Before Dylan could respond to Alpha Jason, a werewolf stepped up, reporting something to them.

"I think there was a traitor among us, Alpha Jason."

Dylan's body stiffened after hearing that. He was now nervous and anxious. What if there was someone who saw him saving Titania or someone saw Travis Team. He didn't know how he could convince Alpha Jason not to attack White Claw Pack.

Dylan began cursing Travis for what he had done. He was too reckless and didn't think of the consequences of his action. He could not understand why Travis would go to the extent of saving the hunter even if it could cause conflict between the two packs.

Alpha Jason clenched his fists. "What do you mean there was a traitor among us? Who is the traitor?" Alpha Jason said through his gritted teeth.

"I think it was Nikolai." The werewolf promptly responded to Alpha Jason's query.

"Nikolai? Why do you think so?" Alpha Jason probed.

The other werewolves were just listening to them silently. Everyone wondered why Nikolai would betray their pack. He knew that betraying the Blood Moon Pack only meant death.

Nikolai was the omega who welcomed and entertained Travis's team when they arrived at Blood Moon Pack territory.

"He's the only werewolf who had gone missing tonight. Everyone was here except him." the werewolf explained to Alpha Jason.

"Maybe he was the one who warned the hunters about our traps. The traps that we set beforehand disappeared. To think about this, no one died among us. Everyone was alive. Maybe he had no intention of killing us. So Nikolai was the most suspicious among everyone here. He just suddenly disappeared without a trace."

Dylan had conflicting thoughts about this. He knew that something might have happened to Nikolai that's why he disappeared but he couldn't believe that Nikolai was a traitor. Dylan didn't know whether he should feel glad or not about this. Someone else was blamed instead of Travis's Team.

"Let's not jump into conclusion first. Let's wait and see what happened to Nikolai. Let's listen to his explanation first why he suddenly disappeared. What if he just followed the hunters?" Dylan finally spoke up. He couldn't afford to let an innocent comrade take the blame either.

Little did they know that the reason why Nikolai disappeared was that Alexa and others took him and brought him to the White Claw Pack. They had no plan to hurt him.

They just couldn't afford that Nikolai would inform Alpha Jason about Alexa's interference as she saved the hunters in her werewolf form. This would implicate the White Claw Pack if they didn't stop Nikolai from talking.

Now Travis's Team would try their best to convince Nikolai to join the White Claw Pack and never return to the Blood Moon Pack.

The werewolf who was accusing Nikolai of betraying the Blood Moon Pack spoke up once again. "If he did follow them then he should have left us a signal or even a trail but he didn't. I couldn't even smell his scent anymore."

It happened because Alexa erased their scents so that other werewolves couldn't track them if ever they wanted to search for their missing member. Now, this incident was really pointing to Nikolai as a traitor.

" Anyone who could see Nikolai, bring him to me! I will give him the punishment he deserves." Alpha Jason gave them his command.

"Let's go back now. We are wasting our time here." Alpha Jason said to the others werewolves, ignoring Dylan. He was quite disappointed with Dylan for what happened tonight.

But before they could finally leave, Alpha Jason shifted into his werewolf form, venting his anger in the forest, slashing the threes with his claws while growling loudly. He wanted to kill. His blood was boiling in rage.

He couldn't accept the fact that someone betrayed him and hunters outsmarted him. This was not he was expecting to see upon his arrival. He wanted to see lifeless bodies of hunters scattered around the forest, bathing with their own blood.

But to his disappointment, something different happened. The hunter escaped from their grasps. For him, it was a great insult as an Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. He needed to release his frustration or else, he would go berserk and hurt these incapable members of his pack who failed to guard one injured hunter.

Other members felt the impending danger if they would stay close with Alpha Jason, so they immediately fled going back to their territory. Dylan was the one who remained in the forest together with Jason's Beta. They waited for him. After he was done rampaging in the forest, Alpha Jason turned to Dylan.

"I will talk to you tomorrow. I am quite disappointed with your action tonight. I didn't expect that someone could do this under your watch."

Dylan could only sigh as he watched the retreating back of Alpha Jason. But deep inside, he felt relieved. Titania was safe. He was able to see her and talk to her. Now he was looking forward to seeing her once again.
