Chapter 33

Several minutes had passed, Ethan and Heston were able to knock down five werewolves. Now, there were only five werewolves left. They moved to the location of their next target.

They saw the werewolf in his human form. He was hiding in one of the big trees. He looked like he was surveying his surroundings and searching for any signs of hunters nearby.

Ethan signaled Jeston to watch his back. They changed their strategy now. He was the one who was going to approach the werewolf man. He moved swiftly, not making unnecessary sounds.

Ethan's gun was already out of its tranquilizer bullets. Fortunately, he brought some tranquilizers too. He grabbed the syringe and took the opportunity to inject the wolf in the back of his neck.

The man was caught off guard. He turned around to see the man who injected him at his back. But upon moving his body, he stumbled and fell back in the tree as his strength and consciousness started to fade.

He wanted to shift into his wolf form but it was too late. He looked dagger at Ethan but soon his eyes started to drift close. The werewolf man finally fell into a deep sleep. Now there were only four werewolves left around the area.

Jeston gave Ethan two thumbs up for the job well done. When they averted their gaze to Samuel's direction, they saw him moving. He was finally awakened but still felt weak. He couldn't even open his eyes wide and since his face and eyes were swollen from the beatings and tortures he received from the werewolves.

"I'm glad. He is still alive and breathing." Jeston said while heaving a sigh of relief.

"We need to get him out of here and bring him immediately to the hospital. I think his condition is not good." Ethan said, observing and assessing Samuel from the distance.

Fortunately, Ethan and Jeston were not heartless hunters. Even if they knocked down the werewolf they didn't try to stab them using their silver knives. They remained true to their words.

Diego and Alexa gave them one condition. They would help them rescue Samuel but they were not allowed to kill the werewolves. At first, they were curious why the hunters like them would try to ask their fellow hunters that kind of conditions.

Diego just told them that once the blood of werewolves would be spilled their pack members would be able to smell it right away. Then it would attract more attention from the other werewolves.

They would come immediately to the area where they smelled the blood to check on what was happening. They were at disadvantage here. The forest was filled with a greater number of werewolves than hunters. There were only two hunters.

So, Diego gave them that warning. Of course, deep inside they don't want any werewolves to die tonight. They were just helping them to save their comrade.

Ethan and Jeston were convinced by that explanation. So he didn't suspect Alexa and Diego that they were werewolves. Besides, Ethan and Jeston would not believe that the people who were helping them right now to save one of their comrades were also werewolves. They would be surprised once they learned that.

The two hunters were now moving towards their next target. They were very focused and at the same time very cautious about their movement. One mistake would surely jeopardize their safety.

But as time went by, Ethan and Jeston wondered why there were no traps around the area. They could walk around safe and sound. This was not what they expected. They thought a lot of traps would be waiting for them tonight. To their surprise, they didn't even stumble into one trap.

"Do you think this is the work of Diego and Alexa too? They seem very familiar in this forest. They can even pinpoint the hiding spot of other werewolves." Jeston couldn't help but ponder at that thought.

"Yeah… I think so too. But let's not think about that. We need to focus on our mission. After saving Samuel, we still need to find that troublesome girl." Ethan's face darkened with both anger and worry as he recalled Titania.

He was mad and furious at her for disobeying his order but at the same time, he was afraid and nervous that something bad might happen to her. With that thought in mind, Ethan became more eager and determined to finish this as quickly as they could.

A few minutes had passed and they succeeded once again in knocking down werewolves. Now, there was only one left. That werewolf was already in his wolf form. He was alerted when he heard footsteps coming in.

He growled menacingly the moment Jeston came into his view. He revealed his sharp teeth. He was ready to launch an attack.

"Come! Attack me… let's see who will be the last one standing." Jeston challenged him. He was clearly provoking him. Jeston pulled out his silver dagger.

The angry werewolf began to charge towards his direction. The werewolf moved very fast. Before he knew it the werewolf already closed their distance. He pounced on Jeston, ready to bury his sharp teeth against his neck.

Ethan was not also able to anticipate the speed of that werewolf. In just a blink of an eye, he was already pouncing on Jeston. He dashed towards Jeston holding a rope made of silver wire.

'F*ck! I think I'm gonna be too late.' Ethan thought to himself so he immediately picked up his gun loaded with silver bullets. He fired at the werewolf before his sharp teeth could reach Jeston's neck.

The werewolf was hit on his front right leg. That short interference was somehow helpful in delaying the werewolf from biting Jeston's neck. But Jeston's life was still in danger. Ethan fired again but this time the werewolf avoided his shot.

He growled loudly sending signals to his fellow werewolves.

'F*ck! We are doomed! He already called his fellow werewolves.' Ethan cursed inwardly.

He continued firing at the werewolf but it moved faster than before, dodging every shot he fired at him. He didn't even feel the pain in his front right leg. They became resistant to the pain because of the strength and power vested in them by the full moon.

Ethan already ran out of the silver bullets so this time he took his two silver daggers, his hands were holding one dagger each. Now, the attention of the werewolf was focused on Ethan, forgetting about Jeston who was still lying on the ground.

The werewolf broke one of Jeston's arms when he pounced on him. He was enduring the pain as he tried to stand up.

"Ethan be careful! He is strong and very fast!" Jeston warned him.

"I know." Tristan promptly replied, his eyes never leaving the werewolf's figure.

But the werewolf was smart. Instead of attacking Ethan who was holding his weapons, the werewolf turned around to attack Jeston who was currently injured.

"Jeston! Watch out! He is targeting you!" Ethan exclaimed in horror as he watched the werewolf running towards Jeston who was unarmed.

In that certain moment, he knew he was done for and no one could save him.

'D@mn! Is this how I'm gonna die tonight?' Jeston smiled bitterly at that thought.

But before the werewolf could reach Jeston's spot someone jumped in front of him, shielding him from the incoming attack of the werewolf.
