Chapter 47

Is this what freedom is like?

* * * *

Pad found the bright Mustang near the alley and sat on the hood for a few minutes. Jack and Jen offered to wait with him, but the club had closed, and he knew Wayne would be out shortly.

He saw Wayne come out the side door, wearing a black T-shirt, khaki shorts, and flip-flops, carrying a large bag.

“Hey, babe.” Wayne approached, combed the hair out of his eyes, and leaned over for a kiss.

Pad opened his mouth to accept Wayne’s lips and tongue, and Wayne embraced Pad in the process. Wayne’s face felt sticky to Pad.

Probably the sweat from the dancing.

“I’m glad you stayed. I was worried you were mad at me.”

“I’m not mad. Just wished you told me,” said Pad. He watched Wayne hit the electronic key to unlock the doors, pop the trunk open, and throw his bag inside.

“Hop on in. I’m glad my boyfriend is the first person to ride in the passenger seat.”
