43 Chapter 40

Sky sat on a chair outside the doctor’s office. His eyes roaming around to all the mothers that waiting along with him. Some had large bellies like they were due soon while the others like sierra did not show yet. But then, this was their first USG, so it was unlikely. Pregnancy belly does not show until the third month.

"Mr. and Mrs. Arizona!" The receptionist announced.

Sky stood up immediately grabbing hold of Sierras hand and leading her inside the office.

She was asked to remove her pants, cover herself with a thin sheet and lie down in a lithotomic position.

After, a few minutes the doctor entered the room.

Sky noticed that he was a tall man, with green eyes. His graying hair and the tired look of his eyes were the only indication that the man was around his forties. Putting on a pair of glasses he covered his hands in a pair of gloves.

He first inserted two fingers in Sierras vagina, his fingers following a circular motion so as to feel any abrasions along the wall. Once, he was convinced that the vaginal wall was healthy which was reassured by the fact that Sierra complained of no symptoms he unhooked a transmitter and covered it with a condom. After, applying some lube he inserted it into Sierra's vagina.

The screen at the side came to life. It displayed an array of black, gray and white shades when Sky heard it.

The sound.

A sound he would never forget.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

It was the fast beating of his child heart. It seemed a lot faster than his own, even though Sky could have sworn that his heart had reacted to it by speeding up itself.

For that one moment he loved the woman that lay on that bed with her legs placed on the stirrups. It was just a moment that his cold heart melted and he realized he was going to be a father. He experienced true joy in that moment. His inhibitions were stripped away by those little sounds.

"Now I can officially confirm and say that you two are pregnant. Congratulations. "

With that the doctor left.

"Chris! Come home. Bring Aiyana too if you want. We have to celebrate."

"Celebrate what?"

"I am going to be a father Chris I am going to have a little person with its little hands and crawling around the house. She is going to take my name, my heart and my sleep. She will take away my peace of mind when dicks like will try to have her. She going to drive me crazy with her tantrums and take everything from me. But, I will still love her, Chris. So before she comes I want to spend this one moment with you, my best friend to enjoy the fact she will be here soon."

"How do you know it's a she. That's things a little blip right now. The size of a berry."

"I just know she is. She is going to be my little Mia."

"Alright my man, I will be there with flowers and champagne. How does that sound?"

"Like the second best thing in the world."

Aiyana watched Sky fuss over everything when it came to Sierra. The difference that he was worried about hurting the child was truly evident. He kept stroking her belly and saying stupid things. Occasionally kissing it and saying how much he loved little Mia and how he was waiting for her to come and curl her little hand around his finger and annoy him. How he would protect her, take care of her and allow her to take away everything he had.

Watching that smile and the way he behaved made Aiyana’s heart melt and for the first time she saw him. Truly saw him. As more than a hot teacher she fantasized in her bed or a man she loved to tease. She saw him as a father to be and something about it, made her smile.

And that's when she felt it.

The loud thump.

The soft beat that pumped just for Sky.
