Tragedy

Lily Evans returned to London after four days and expected a letter to be waiting for her. But, there were none. She didn't worry. An owl would surely come on the weekend. But, a weekend became a week and a week became two. Two weeks stretched out to a month and Lily waited. She couldn't understand her own feelings. It wasn't like she and James knew each other very well or were dating. She just wanted him to send a letter. She would have done it herself, she didn't care. But, she didn't have her address. While brooding over the conversation they had in his hotel room, she realized how profoundly little she knew about him.

She waited and waited but a letter never came and she had to sit through the boring conversations of Petunia's upcoming wedding.

James Potter returned to his house, the door was open. It was a little odd. These were dangerous times and his parents were careful.

"Mom?" He came inside. "Dad?"

No one answered.

He saw blood splattered on the walls. His heart almost jumped out of his chest.

"DAD?" He shouted, coming into the living room.

He froze. His entire world froze. His body stopped. His mind was numb. He saw his mother and his father lying on the floor in the pool of their own blood.

"Mom…" He whispered.

"Hello, James." He turned around quickly. He knew that voice. He had once loved that voice.

Leaning against the wall, nonchalantly. There she was...Caroline Trent, James Potter's first love.

"Caroline." He spluttered.

"And, me…" Snape into the room.

"You did this?" He pointed at Snape, refusing to believe that Caroline could do something this horrific.

He knew he could expect anything from Snape but her...…He had loved her.

"Correction." She came towards Snape, "I did…He just watched."

"What?" James's mind had stopped working.

She took Snape's hand.

"Goodbye, Potter." Snape smirked at him and both of them walked out.

James Potter fell to the floor, a white haze came before his eyes. He cried. He sobbed. He screamed. His sobs echoed in the large, empty house.

James forgot everything about his life and spent almost a whole day on the floor, crying like a child. Unable to comprehend or tackle the situation till Remus Lupin came to check up on him. He had been by Sirius' side in St. Mungo's. He had been severely injured or he would have been at the Potter house to welcome his friend home.

"James?" Remus Lupin experienced the same horrifying feeling that creeped up and down his spine. But, he recovered quicker than James.

He came towards him,

"Come on." He said, quietly. "Come on, Jamesy."

He gently helped him up.

"Take this." He went into the kitchen and quickly brewed a potion. "Drink up."

James obeyed. His mind cleared. He was no longer tired. He was fresh.

"Remus….they…." He remembered. "I…."

"I know." Remus hugged his friend.

After an hour, many members of the Order appeared on the scene. With James Potter under the influence of a sleep tonic, the members of the Order organized the house for a private funeral. James Potter had never thought he would be attending his parents' funeral like this. Sirius Black was released from the hospital and joined James at his house. No matter what he did, he couldn't get James out of the dark mood. After almost two months, one night, James told him about the night in Hawaii, when he was very drunk. And, didn't remember anything by the morning.

So, Sirius Black wrote to her.

"Dear Lily,

I know this is not what you expected after James told you that he would ask you out on a date. And you must be mad because it's been over two months and he didn't write. Believe me, he would have. But, it has been a hard two months for Prongs.

I believe you coming back into his life would be a good thing for him. I am sending you an address to James's place. I hope you will come, Lily. Because, even if James is not telling you that he needs you but I am telling you that he needs you, Lily, he needs you.

Come to Godric's Hollow, Number 92, this Saturday.

Sirius Black."

Lily Evans was a little surprised to get a letter from Sirius and not James. She didn't know what to feel. Why didn't James write? She didn't know and Sirius never said anything in his letter. All week she debated between going or not going over to James Potter's house. But, on Saturday evening she found herself dressing in a new dress and getting ready to go. At seven she found the Potter Manor.

"Woah…" She stopped.

She had heard that James came from a wealthy family but she had no idea he was this wealthy. She rang the bell and the door opened in an instant. It was as if Sirius had been standing by the door.

"Come in." He said, hurriedly, "Quickly."

He shut the door and spelled the door seven times.

"Lily?" James Potter rubbed his eyes as he saw Lily Evans walk into his living room.

He had just come out of a shower. His head dripped water.

"Is that you?"

"It's me." She felt as if James wasn't okay.

He looked thinner than the last time she saw him. He looked as if he hadn't slept in days.

"How did you find me?" He asked, "I am sorry…I forgot …"

"Sirius wrote to me." SHe said.

"He did?" James looked at Sirius who nodded.

Sirius Black quickly disappeared into his room.

"Oh, Thank God." James came towards her and hugged her. "I am so glad you found me!"
