August 5, 2012, 7:00 PM.
The Allianz Arena was brightly lit, flags fluttered, and about 50,000 people gathered in the stadium, which can accommodate 75,000.
Most of the seats were filled with Bayern fans in red jerseys, with only about 2,000 Werder Bremen fans in green jerseys in the corner of the east stand.
Bayern is located in Bavaria, in southern Germany, while Werder Bremen is in the northern region, so they are quite far from each other. Plus, Bayern sells fewer tickets to away fans, so there weren't many Werder Bremen fans at the match.
Before the match began, both teams' players were warming up on the field.
Compared to the little attention paid to the Werder Bremen players, Bayern's players like Robben, Ribéry, Lahm, Gomez, Schweinsteiger, and others received an enthusiastic welcome as soon as they appeared.
Both well-known stars and young players like Kroos, Thomas Müller, and Alaba received applause from the fans for their remarkable skills.
Whenever a Bayern player made a brilliant move, it would immediately be met with loud cheers from the crowd.
In contrast, Werder Bremen's players were completely ignored by the home fans. They didn't even bother to boo them, as if they felt that Werder Bremen's players were not worth the effort.
On the field, Lin was practicing free kicks with De Bruyne. Seeing this, he bumped De Bruyne's shoulder and asked, "Nervous?"
De Bruyne looked at him in confusion and asked, "Why should I be nervous? I've played at Stamford Bridge and seen such scenes before."
Lin couldn't help but roll his eyes. How could the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge compare to the Allianz Arena?
However, seeing that De Bruyne was genuinely calm, Lin breathed a sigh of relief.
Whether or not they could win this game depended not only on whether the defense could withstand Bayern's strong attacks, but also on the performance of the two of them.
De Bruyne was the core of the team's attack; his passing directly determined the quality of Werder Bremen's counterattacks.
If he was too nervous or in poor form, the team would have little chance of success.
Twenty minutes later, the warm-up sessions for both teams ended.
The players returned to the locker rooms, preparing for the final pre-match preparations.
When Coach Schaaf saw that the players were equipped and ready, he clapped his hands to gather everyone.
"Shh, listen quietly. What's that sound outside?"
"I'll tell you, that's the Bayern fans singing their team's anthem. The name of the anthem is 'Forever Number One'!"
"Do you think the Bayern fans are arrogant? Ha, forever number one. How can any team be at the top forever in the world?"
"But in the Bundesliga matches, damn it, Bayern has always been first, always! Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and even us, Werder Bremen, have challenged them before, but it was all just a flash in the pan. No one has been able to pull them off the throne!"
"They've won 21 Bundesliga titles, 15 German Cup titles, and 4 Champions League titles! And us? Our last league championship was ten years ago! So before the match, no one believes in us, everyone thinks we've already lost! Do you also think so?"
Thomas Schaaf scanned the players sharply with his eyes. No one dared to meet his gaze; those who were caught by his eyes almost subconsciously lowered their heads.
Only Lin looked at him in a daze, thinking, "Damn, did the coach take the wrong medicine today? How did he start swearing? Usually, he's gentle and courteous, right?" Because he was so surprised, Lin momentarily forgot to avoid the coach's gaze.
Seeing that Lin didn't evade his gaze, Schaaf was stunned for a moment, then showed a satisfied expression: "This kid actually has courage, the courage of a newcomer!"
He continued, "Don't just take it from me; I also think so!"
This statement caused a stir, and the players were surprised and looked at their head coach, as if questioning whether they had misheard.
So you were also uncertain, after shouting so loudly; your lack of confidence is showing!
"That's right, I'm also uncertain, because Bayern Munich's strength is stronger on paper. Their players are all stars, their values are ten times higher than yours, and they earn tens of times more money than you. They are fawned over by fans and the media wherever they go and own luxury cars and beautiful women.
Compared to them, you are just a bunch of losers — you are nothing!"
The players' eyes turned angry, unsure if the direct comparison ignited their fury or if the coach's insult made them mad.
"Are you mad? Do you want to show them you're not weak?
Then go out there and give it your all! Knock them off that throne and stomp on them!
Prove yourself by your actions! It's not who has more glory or trophies who wins! It's not about who's richer or gets more attention; that's not how soccer works!
If that were true, then Real Madrid, with Messi, Ronaldo, and Beckham, would be dominating Europe!
Werder Bremen will crush every opponent who looks down on us! If you can't do that, then accept your garbage – you can't win against them!
Tell me, are you all garbage?"
"NO!"
The players shouted unanimously.
"Louder, I can't hear you!"
"We are NOT garbage!"
"Great! Now prove it on the field!"
The captain, Fritz, stretched out his hand, followed by the other players.
"Werder Bremen, go go go!"
Werder Bremen's players left the locker room, full of spirit. They entered the players' tunnel.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich's players had already gathered at the path, curiously looking toward their opponents. They were surprised to see Werder's players so enthusiastic.
What could make them so excited to face Bayern? Surely they didn't think they could win at the Allianz?
At 7:30 PM, both teams, under the referee's guidance, entered the field.
The first official match for Lin Quan, joining Werder Bremen, began.
