Dogma.

[And thus began my tedious but relaxing daily routine. I would rise as soon as the sun appeared on the horizon, and would work until the sun could no longer be seen. The Master would always use his Qi to ensure that I could physically withstand such long hours, but each day I recovered far faster than before. Two months and two days went by until I would glimpse Immortality.]

The sun's harsh rays were far worse in this Realm than in the Mortal Realm. Food, shelter, and safety were all things I took for granted. But I wanted to look for a place known in the Mortal Realm as Shangri-La. While I was disappointed to find that it didn't exist as I envisioned it, I found something far more interesting. I almost got killed as soon as half a day after I entered this new world. But instead, I was bought by a poor man who needed an extra set of hands on his land. Or so I thought...

There was a knock on the door of the small hut that Master and I lived in. Even with my untrained ears, I could hear some murmurs behind the other side of the door. But the Master warned me not to approach it.

M.: "Be very cautious. While I may appear to be a simple monk, even I have notoriety. There are few of us that live in the first of the Heavenly Realms, meaning only the strongest survive."

I gulped and sat still as I watched Master creep up to the door. I couldn't hear a single footstep even though I could see it very clearly. But it was only a second later that the door was blasted apart by a hammer.

???: "Hey! You haven't been paying our taxes! Care to give me a fucking reason for that?"

Behind the shambles of the door was what looked like six or seven bandits. Their faces, though the leader's words sounded angry, nearly contorted with delight in the destruction of our home. However, there was an aura around Master that seemed to eat at my soul.

M.:" A reason, you say? You are illegitimate. You merely wave power around like a stick and hope that some weak fool will hand you a couple coins. Since you aren't able to fly, I'm surprised you went so far just to break down a poor man's door. I would have answered it if your Qi radiated anything but that of a dead fish."

The grunt up front seemed to smile, though he was shaking like a branch in the wind. It was very amusing, though I also felt like my life was in danger based on the anger that poured out from Master.

???: "It's as you say. We enjoy turning clowns like you ass-first for coin. Isn't that all this world revolves on? Money and power?"

Master seemed to stop pouring out murderous Qi. But I couldn't tell why. He turned to me, and beckoned me toward him.

M.: "Today, young Jin, you will become Immortal."

Jin: "But how do I do that?"

An aura of light began surrounding Master, and for a second it was just Master and I in a realm of light. His features became even softer.

M.: "I can awaken Mortals like yourself, but you have to listen to me. I use Qi to enhance my authority, and you will become like me. You don't need to understand."

Jin: "Then what do I do?"

Pure authority seemed to gather in Master's throat, and he issued a command I could not refuse.

M.: "[ANSWER MY CALL.]"
