This is a story of Kai's betrayal, redemption, success and love in the world of Shokugeki no Soma. This is my first time writing something so I hope you enjoy :) Although I do a grammar check before I release a chapter, please bare with me if there are any grammar/spelling mistakes that I've missed.

Chapter 27

(Rin POV)

I slept through most of the flight to Switzerland, and before I knew it, the plane had landed in Zürich. Much a contrast to the humid temperatures in Japan, the breeze of Switzerland is sharp yet refreshing.

"Ah" Although chilly, I stood there as the wind hit me.

"Master Rin, shall we get going?" Alfred approaches me.

I nod, then I follow the butler to collect our luggage. Walking into the main hall of the airport, the grandness of the airport is clear, also showing the wealthiness of the nation.

We search for our driver through the seas of families, who were waiting for their loved ones to arrive. We see a tall man, possibly in his mid-thirties, holding a sign with my family name written on it.

"Alfred. Over there" I point out my findings to the old butler and then we both approach the tall figure.

Approaching the figure, I couldn't sense that the man was a professional. Wearing a tight charcoal suit that complemented his stature, the man stood there

"Hello, I am Rin Yamashita. I assume you are our driver?" I say, approaching the man.

After giving me a slightly stern look as he inspects me, he bows and smiles. "Sorry Mr. Yamashita. Yes, I am Mark and I will be your driver for the day" He says after bowing.

I look back to Alfred and who gives a nod.

"That's fine Mark, shall we get going?" I smile at the tall man, then follow him towards the parking area.

Approaching a black SUV, Mark looks at us and says "Please enter the car. I'll pack the luggage in the car."

Look at Alfred who had just sat down. I then ask, "Alfred, do you have a driver organised for the duration of my stay?"

"Yes, but as per your orders, there isn't a strict schedule in place. Mark has been organised through Matteo. We will most likely be seeing him tomorrow."

Interrupting the conversation, the man enters the car and says, "Mr. Nägeli has ordered me to take you to your manor in Wollishofen. I assume this is okay with both of you."

"Yes, that's fine" giving a nod of approval, Mark then turns the engine on and we set on our way to the manor.

'It's been a while since I've been able to appreciate a clear sky' I sit looking out the window, admiring the evening sky.

'Hey Amara, is there anything related to Europe in Shokugeki no Soma?' I ask the otaku goddess, secretly hoping that nothing has changed.

[There are a few characters which are of European descent, but other than that, I can't say an awful lot.]

I continue to chat with Amara as we head into the city. Around 20 minutes later, we escape the bustling centre of the swiss city, entering a rural district of Zurich.

We drive up a hill until arriving at a noble steel gate with a grand-looking 'Y' placed in the centre. After scanning a key card, the gates open, displaying a large, magnificent manor.

The lights complemented the manor, showing the grandeur of the manor's gothic-style architecture. Looking forward, the arched front windows allowed a glimpse of the interior.

"I know I'm rich, but I didn't know I was this rich." I murmur to myself.

"I guess it's been so long that you don't remember this place." I look to my right and see Alfred smiling at me.

I give a nod in response, then continue to look out of the window.

Although the day had already turned tonight, the proper grounds spanned over 25 acres.

Two maid-looking figures wait at the open door of the mansion, clearly waiting for our arrival.

Mark stops the car, gets out and then opens the rear doors.

"Sir, you may go inside. I'll handle the baggage." Mark smiles, proceeding to open the rear of the car to collect our luggage.

Taking the lead, I walk towards the two maids waiting by the door.

"Master Rin, I'm not sure if you recognize me, but I am Mia, the head maid of the manor." the elderly-looking woman bows her head slightly, then greets me with a smile.

'I remember her slightly because of the former Rin's memories' I look at the elderly maid and smile back.

"Ah Mia, you were my father's maid, right? It must have been 6 years since I last came here with my father."

"Yes, master Rin." she smiles.

"I was your father's maid. I'm glad to see you again after so many years" she says with sadness in her voice at the mention of my father.

"Well, shall we enter? The flight must have worn you out." She shakes her head, smiles at me, then gestures to follow her.

Proceeding to follow her into the manor, I'm greeted by an entrance hall with a modern design, much a contrast to the gothic exterior design. The marble flooring and white walls gave the manor a warm-looking. Multiple pieces of artwork were hung on the walls, bringing colour to the room.

A chandelier hung just before an imposing staircase, complementing the elegance of the manor. Just before the staircase, two doors stood at either side of the room, one leading to what seemed to be a lounge and the other leading to a dining area.

'Just how rich am I?' I ask inwardly, impressed by the grandeur of the manor.

"Master Rin. I'm quite busy with work, so I will assign you a personal maid" until now, the short, cute maid, who had yet to be introduced, bows her head.

"Hello master Rin. I'm Anne and will be your personal maid. Please let me know if you need anything" Ann introduces herself with a smile.

"Master Rin. How about you go into the lounge and relax whilst I bring some tea for you" Anne suggests, seeing the exploring look in my eyes.

"Sure!" I follow the maid through the left-side door of the entrance hall.

The lounge is equally impressive, its size equaling the size of the penthouse in Osaka. Lounge chairs and a large sofa stood before a grand fireplace. A TV hung on the main feature wall of the room, yet again, giving a modern feel to the room.

I sit down on the sofa, and shortly after, Alfred enters the room.

"Young master Rin, I hope you don't mind, but I will spend the night catching up with some of the manor staff." The old man approaches and bows his head.

"Sure, Alfred. Please get some sleep, though." I nod, then smile at the butler.

"The flight must have taken a toll on you."

A few minutes later, Anna enters the room, pushing a small cart with tea and biscuits placed on top.

"Master Rin, here you are" Anne stops to the left of me and places a cup of tea and a modest plate of biscuits on the end table beside me.

"Would you like to join me, Anne" Feeling slightly awkward as she stood silently, I invite her to join me.

"If you don't mind, master Rin" She pours herself a cup of tea and sits down on the lounge chair.

"So, could you tell me some more about the manor" I chat with the lady whilst watching TV.

"I didn't realise it was this late. Sorry for keeping you up."

After noticing the time on my phone, I then turn to the lady and give her an apologetic look.

"There's no need to apologize, it's been a pleasure to accompany you" she shakes her head in dismissal.

"Anne, please could you show me to the master bedroom? It has been a long time since I have come here" I ask politely.

"Of course" I follow the lady as she gets up and walks towards the entrance hall. We walk upstairs and reach the master bedroom doors on the central corridor of the upper floor of the manor.

"Here you are Master Rin" She stops and opens the master bedroom doors.

"Ah master Rin, would you like me to give you a tour of the property grounds tomorrow? I believe that you have no schedule for tomorrow" she asks just before I enter the bedroom.

"That would be great"

After thanking Anne, I close the door and look around the master bedroom.

*sigh* 'I really need updating on how many assets I hold. This manor alone must be worth over 300 million yen' I shake my head after exploring the room.

'Just the fact that I had to explore a master bedroom just shows how overkill the size is.'
