The surface of the Earth has been poisoned by years of abuse and now most life lives beneath the waves of the ocean. Over the last 500 years, humans have become fragmented and specialized by genetic manipulation, but two main factions exist in the Undersea. The hybrids, a race that continues to genetically modify themselves to climb the social ladder, and the humans, the unmodified organic race that makes up the lowest tier of society. Alex, a Delta Six hybrid, finds an unlikely companion in a human man, Jack, while on a mission to steal the Athena file. Alex withholds the file to elicit help from Jack and they set out on an adventure across the Surface. Their relationship is tenuous until a device mysteriously links them together. Now, running from Alphas, an elite group of hybrid assassins, Alex and Jack must weather the hostile surface of the planet to reach their common goal. They soon find they can't both have the thing they want most, but also can't seem to let each other go.

Chapter 201: Bill/Valentine's Day

Jack looked up from his desk as Henry entered his white marble office.

"I want you to recommend to veto that bill," Henry said as he entered.

Jack frowned as he looked down at the screen with the current bill on it. He flicked and the screen folded down into the table. "I haven't finished reading through it yet, but so far it is the most direct bill I have read since I've started and that includes the ones you've written."

"Just veto it."

"Normally, you tell me to read over it and think about it carefully. You don't normally order me to do something."

Henry put his hands on his hips. "Don't mess with me. Just do what I say."'

Jack looked down at the screen in the table and then back up to Henry. "What's in the bill that's so bad? So far it just seems like basic laws and rights for humans."

"It's bad for business. Just veto it. It's got loopholes and stuff. You're my friend right?"

"Well, yeah."

"So, listen to me."

"I still think I should at least read it first."
