On the right side of the government compound, on a green lawn about the size of a basketball court, several rows of seats were arranged. Seated on the chairs were journalists from various media outlets, chatting and bustling with energy. Behind them, some were shouldering video cameras and others were adjusting recording microphones, creating a scene indicative of a pending "battle". Directly in front of the crowd stood a podium about one meter twenty-three high and approximately fifty centimeters wide, placed right in the center. With three microphones clipped to its stand, it was obviously the focal point of the day.
A distinct siren of a police car sounded, causing everyone present to immediately rise and rush toward the entrance, only to be stopped by the security personnel within the lawn area. A convoy of vehicles slowly entered the government compound as the guarding soldiers at the gate stiffened, saluting as a sign of respect.
