"Not much, not much left," Mu Yingxiong simply left these six words behind as he turned and entered the villa, leaving Mu Xiruo and her sister exchanging looks of confusion. It seemed that Yanran's days were truly numbered; she didn't know why. With their mother gone, Yanran had to leave as well.

"Big sister, is there really no way?" Mu Xi'ai wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and asked anxiously.

"There isn't," Mu Xiruo shook her head and let out a deep sigh, "It's fate, a destiny ordained, an unwritten rule established since the founding of the five great families."

With that, Mu Xi'ai knew there was no hope left. The sliver of hope she had harbored vanished in that moment, and she could only silently accept it.
