Finishing Business 2

==================================

With Mike:

Swinging towards the cave where Jesse was held captive a couple of days ago, I suddenly had this pitfall feeling in my guts before it was completely gone. Though I fully sensed it, so during my swinging, I stopped and pulled myself towards one of the trees, with my invisibility turned on. 'What was that?' I asked.

'I don't know but it was... weird... Like something bad is about to happen.' Toxin replied, matching my worry. 'Was it Spider Sense?' I shot but immediately Toxin denied the idea, 'No, this was something else, something deeply instinctual than Spidey Sense...' My partner answered, making me frown.

Looking at the hole on the side of the small mountain through the tree branches, 'Let's finish this whole ordeal with Zoom and get back home as soon as possible.' I spoke, and instead of swinging and calmly going to my destination, I had wings appear from my back. With a flap, I was already closer than I would be if I was swinging.

With my guard fully up and my mind sharp, I focused all my spidey sense towards my enemy's base, only to frown in confusion and then realization. 'FUCK!' I shouted in my head and with another two flaps of my wings, I was at the entrance.

The room was bare... Not a single soul was inside it, the glass cells that had a person or two inside of them were empty as well. Though there were signs of people being here before, it was now empty. "They relocated," I spoke, my voice echoing in the place.

'They must've expected you to come back and finish their leader anytime soon.' My partner told me, and I completely agreed with him. Sighing, I started touring the place, trying to get a clue regarding Zoom's unknown partner and his lieutenants.

Already seeing and sensing some hidden traps, I tried my best not to activate them. I didn't want the whole cave to fall on me. Thankfully, there weren't a lot of them. The ones that I picked up on here are a bit advanced and without a spidey sense, I would have fallen victim to them but since I had a Spidey sense, I was safe. But that didn't mean I could drop my guard.

Coming near the cell where Jesse's last home was, "Damn speedsters," I muttered, remembering how Zoom made sure to survive even when my attack was supposed to shatter his head into dozens of pieces.

The blood was still on the wall, bars, and floor. And following the blood trail on the ground, I ended up in a room, freezing at the entrance, with my fist clenched and my teeth grinding because of anger, the blood trail led to the middle of the room where there was a table. And on the table was a very familiar woman.

A woman that had gone missing after Justice League took care of Zoom's lackey, the woman that I had saved from exploding and getting killed. The woman shed a bit of light on the matter regarding the demon speedster and his army. The woman that was forced to be a soldier to Zoom or she'll die. On the table was Mist-no, Lulu was on the table.

And as if it was a cruel joke, she was frozen from head to toe, her skin covered with frost and the way it was... I walked up to her side, looking at her body with a scowl underneath my mask but my muscles and posture were tense, filled with anger.

I only know one person that has this ability. 'Caitlin.' Toxin spoke but I shook my head. "Not my Caitlin. She isn't this cruel," I spoke to her defend, even though I knew what he meant. Examing Misty, "This Ca-" I stopped, my scowl deepening, I corrected myself, "The person that did this, did it very slowly." I muttered, looking at the dead woman's face filled with pain, frozen in time though her eyes had no light.

'They wanted us to see this.'

"Toxin" I asked him and immediately, 'It's no problem partner.' He spoke and in under 5 seconds, the symbiote was also covering Lulu's entire body before it was fully gone from the table.

Before I could say my thanks, "That was something interesting to see." A clearly fake voice, in between a man and a woman, entered the room, making me halt all of a sudden before I was back to focusing on my surroundings.

Not waiting for another second, I dashed towards the sole exit in the room but before I could pass the doorway, "Oh, no you don't guy." The voice playfully spoke, but my senses were already warning me of the incoming danger and by the time he finished speaking the last word, my vision trembled by the heaviest high pitch sound ever.

[TSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS]

"GAHH," I grunted in pain, covering my ears but the sound, the pain wouldn't stop and it wasn't just me that had this problem, Toxin, who was inside me was hurting far more than me. 'IT HURTS, MAKE IT STOP!' My partner cried out and trying my best, I forced myself to walk, through the doorway, only to fall back on my knees.

Taking my head in between my hands, trying to curl into a fetal position because of the gut-wrenching pain throughout my whole body. Inside my head, my partner's blood-curdling screams were getting... blurry, muffled, one moment clear, and in another, muffled, almost like he was far away.

And I knew what it was but I couldn't do anything because of our link. Each time his screams sounded like faraway, the hurt would decrease to an extreme headache before it would return with Toxin's shriek.

"That's a very interesting thing happening to you... suit?" The voice spoke but over the high-pitched noise, and my partner's agony, I couldn't care less about it. The entire base was covered in this head-splitting screech.

Falling on my knees and hands, I could feel Toxin slowly uncovering my leg, chest, and then my back, and even my face. The mask, Toxin's face, getting out of my face, howling in pain before it would get stuck back into my own face. But the parts that fell on the ground, that had uncovered me and were under me, vibrated in pain, slowly shrinking into themselves.

'Mike, leave! me!' He shouted in my brain, urging me to get out of the cave because of the spidey sense blowing off, a warning that I had no intention of listening without my partner by my side. "NO!" I shouted back, a pair of clothes appearing underneath the slowly disappearing symbiote.

Trying my best to push away, to ignore the pain, I forced Toxin to get back inside, to hide inside just like I had done against Darkseid. 'MIKE!' "SHUT UP!" I shouted back in pain, and looking at the small parts that were on the ground, I smashed my hands on top of them, sucking them back inside my body.

'YOU'LL, GAH, DIE!'

'No way, grr, will I let... my partner die for me!' I thought back, painfully crawling back toward the entrance of the cave. Though I could hear the fake voice speaking something, I didn't care. But I did catch the end part of what he said, "...team for you"

Before I could do anything else,

[!!!BOOOM!!!!]

[!!!BOOOM!!!!]

...

[!!!BOOOM!!!!]

[!!!BOOOM!!!!]

...

The far-end hallways exploded and the exploding quickly headed our way from both behind and in front. With my eyes wide in horror, I could only stare at the bombs hidden inside the walls exploding, bringing down the ceiling with it.

[!!!BOOOM!!!!]

[!!!BOOOM!!!!]

Another set of explosions, both just 3 meters in front and in the back, completely blocked my exits, the high-pitched noise that was coming from the wall next to me stopped only for a split second, and before I could even recover myself, I am guessing the speaker that was making the noise exploded right on my face, burning me down.

I was disoriented, my world spinning, my vision blacking out, and I lay on the ground, staring at the ceiling. I could only note that the ceiling was getting closer and closer to me and when my mind had registered why,

'I'm sorry Cait...I... might be a bit late...' I thought before boulders fell on top of me, the pain of my whole body flaring just for a second before I blanked out.
