Lily didn't like the way he nodded indifferently. She grabbed his arm.
"Chief."
Once the transaction was being made, the police were going to pounce. In the meantime, Ethan was going to get on a jet boat and run off into the sea. Chief Hanks saw the gleam in her eyes and clicked his tongue as he cursed.
"Do you think the police have the time to discern who to arrest and who to let go?"
Lily paled as Chief Hanks shouted quietly with bulging eyes. Meanwhile, someone began to exit the boat. Lily drew in a ragged breath.
She could see the detectives quickly moving within the darkness. Because this was such an important case, they enlisted the manpower and resources of other police precincts. When she saw all the firearms, a shiver ran down her spine.
"But that wasn't our plan."
"Be quiet."
