Chapter 5 When Would He Kiss Her?

Watching her, Eddison sighed helplessly. With a sarcastic tone, he said, "Your newlywed husband had set you up to sleep with another man, yet you refuse to divorce him. Are you a fool?"

"A fool? Indeed, I'm a fool," Caroline thought to herself.

She had met Tyler in college. He started to pursue her in their freshman year. However, she had always felt that she was no match for Tyler as she came from a poor family. Hence, she gave her all in her studies just so she could get a good job after graduation, and be worthy of him.

For the sake of her education, she only agreed to date Tyler once she had gotten a job after graduating from college.

After that, she threw herself into work and managed to shine among her peers. Eventually, she became the planning director of a company. Only with that could she be able to stand at the same level as Tyler, and not be looked down upon by her future parents-in-law.

In her opinion, both parties in marriage had to be equals to ensure that the marriage would stay strong.

But now?

Tyler had completely betrayed her.

Caroline said mockingly, "I've given everything I've got for this marriage. Why should I let it go so easily and pave the way for another woman?"

Tyler had already gotten the position of Rephancy Entertainment's general manager just by giving her up. If she were to divorce him, she would just be making way for him to be with Loraine!

Eddison raised his eyebrows and asked, "If you don't let go, how are you going to find a better marriage? Do you want to be bound by that pair of sc*mbags for the rest of your life?"

After a pause, he continued, "Besides, you're pregnant with my child. What do you plan to do with it?"

"I'll not carry on with the pregnancy!" Caroline replied.

"It was Tyler's plot to get you pregnant with my child. If you don't want the baby, do you think you'd still be able to gain a foothold in their family?"

"Moreover, do you think any hospital or doctor would dare perform the surgery on you if I were to instruct them not to? After all, you're carrying the young master of the Zellweger Group!" Eddison said.

"You! What the hell do you want?" Caroline roared with outrage.

"It's simple! Get a divorce with Tyler Long. Then, give birth to my child. I'll marry you!"

"Your husband and half-sister showed you no mercy. How are you going to take revenge if you don't marry me? Do you think they're going to let you off that easily? They'll just announce to the public that you had an affair to ruin your reputation. Then they'd get rid of your child, and leave you with no alternatives."

After pausing for a moment, Eddison raised his eyebrows slightly and threw a tempting offer at her. "Wouldn't it be satisfying to hear your ex-husband address you as 'Madam' — the wife of his boss?"

Caroline was taken aback. Indeed, Eddison was right. If Tyler could do something as terrible as getting her into Eddison's bed, who knew what other crazy things he would do if she refused to get a divorce.

Obviously, Eddison's analysis of the situation was on point.

Now, the best and only way out for her would be to marry him.

Taking in her expression, Eddison sat up, took her cell phone, and keyed in his number. 

"This is my personal number. Once you're done thinking it through, give me a call."

After that, he got up and turned around to leave. Caroline reached out and grabbed his wrist, saying, "I can give you my answer now. I'll divorce Tyler and marry you, but under one condition."

Caroline was never an indecisive person since young. There was no need for her to hesitate with all the pros and cons laid out in front of her.

"A condition? Well, you'd better give it some thought. After all, this is probably the best chance you'll ever get to reap some benefits from me," Eddison said.

"You!" Caroline was enraged. She let go of his wrist and said, "I don't need to reap any benefits from you. My only condition is that after giving birth to this baby, we'll get a divorce. Also, during this period, we can't share a room or bed."

Eddison replied, "Well, I'll need to think it over carefully. After all, a marriage isn't a business deal."

"If you can't agree to that, I won't divorce Tyler and marry you."

"Are you threatening me?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Well then, it seems you leave me with no choice. For the sake of the child, I'll have to agree to your condition."

Caroline was caught off guard by Eddison's seemingly easy-going attitude. He seemed to be different from the rumors she had heard.  

Just as she was thinking, Eddison suddenly leaned his face toward her. He was so close to her that she could feel his warm breath fanning across her face, which made her heart pounding in her chest. Just as she was about to open her mouth, he let out a chuckle.

He then gently placed his finger on the tip of her nose and asked, "What was on your mind just now? Were you wondering how many seconds it would take for me to kiss you on the lips?"

Caroline's pretty face turned beet red. She was too taken by surprise that she couldn't speak.

Without warning, Eddison tilted his face slightly and placed his sexy lips on hers.
