Shirley looked at Caroline in earnest and said, "Miss Simons, I don't think I'm bragging. Instead, I'm recommending myself. If I don't have the courage to do this, I'll never get to stand out."
She was indeed recommending herself!
Caroline looked at her. There was a wave of self-confidence around this girl that made her easily noticeable.
"Miss Simons, why don't you give me a probation period? I can still fulfill my usual job role while being your assistant," Shirley said sincerely.
"So, what you're trying to say is, you wish to become my assistant to learn more about strategic planning from me, is that right?" Caroline asked.
"That's right, Miss Simons. That's what I meant. I will work really hard to improve my professional skills," Shirley replied.
Caroline continued to fiddle with the pen in her hand. She was obviously considering this.
"Does it ever occur to you that being my assistant will attract more criticism for you?" Caroline asked.
