Chapter 5 - Arlow POV

The fog slowly dissipates from my mind. I gasp, looking down at my blood-stained nails and the unconscious girl underneath me. Throwing myself off of the blond, I hit the wall with a smack and curl up there. Panic begins to rise, and my ability to breathe goes with it. When the ragged sound of the comatose girl's breathing is the only thing to fill the silence, I burrow further into myself and sob.

Things were a bit blurry after that. I didn't know why I was panicking so much. Maybe it was because I know that I shouldn't have reacted like that. Am I terrified? Yes. Was it basic fight or flight tendencies? Also yes. Still, I know that, even though she kidnapped me, the girl had shown nothing but kindness and a bit of sarcasm.

"Panicking like this isn't healthy," I mumble. "You know how to calm yourself so do it and stop being dramatic." So I try. I try to find 5 things I can see, 4 things I can feel, 3 things I can hear, 2 things I can smell, and one thing I can taste. It helps a little, but I still feel so much panic toiling in my gut.

So caught up in my mind, I didn't see the girl stirring from her forced rest. It's not until I feel a hand on my shoulder that I realize that she's awake. Instinctually, I jerk away.

"Please stay away," I croaked, my heart burning from how visibly upset the blond became at her words. "Don't wanna hurt you."

She blinks the upset vanishing into confusion. "I…" she trailed off. "I don't blame you. I would have reacted the same way to being woken up by a stranger.

I look at her, dazed but when I catch sight of her injuries again, I compose myself. "Do you have any medical supplies?" She looks shocked for a second and then responds,

"Medical supplies… yeah I think I do…" she sighs and begins to stand. "I'll be right back," I watch her leave, remorseful that she has to get them herself. 'It's not like you're even allowed to go up there… She kidnapped you remember?' I remind myself.

"You can do this," I mumble, looking through the suspiciously well-loved medical kit. "Just remember what Kats taught you," I say thinking of the small bit of training my sister Katrina gave me for situations like this- well not exactly like this but for if I or another needed it.

"Are you sure you actually know what you are doing?" she asks, raising her eyebrows in skepticism.

"I- rude!" I huff, annoyed. "My sister is a doctor-in-training, and I've read quite a few books on basic first-aid," I say, proud of myself. I look away from the kit and see her smirking.

"Hm… and here I thought you were just a pretty face," she says like it is the biggest revelation she's heard in her life. Offended, I glared at her.

"Just sit still and shut up for once! This is going to sting a bit,"
