One thing about werewolves is they get angry easily and this might force them to do what they never intended to do. Lucas became enraged as he rose to his feet. He could feel his blood burning and his fingernails growing into claws. As Stone brought his mouth closer to Jane’s neck to sink his fangs into her, Lucas dived toward Stone and buried his claws into Stone’s abdomen.
Unconsciously, Stone releases Jane from his grip as he falls to his knees. Something in Lucas was still longing for more disaster. He couldn’t ignore or fight it. He grabbed Stone by the neck and sank his claws into his chest whereby ripping out his heart.
Lucas with Stone’s heart in his palm slumps to the ground. Realizing what has happened, Jane quickly rushed to help him. His appearance was changing already. His body was growing beastly hairs and his claws were longer than before. His bones began to snap and reshape. Jane could hear the snap of the bones. ‘This could only mean one thing,’ she said to herself as she quickly draws away from Lucas.
Perhaps, anger has pushed Lucas to trigger his werewolf curse. Not only has he triggered the werewolf curse, but he has also as well triggered the wizard’s power he was born with. As his bones continue to snap and reshape, white glowing light shone out of his body lighting up the scene of the apartment.
This made Jane more curious to even stare with curiosity. She has not seen such in her life. She has heard about the werewolf curse and how it works but definitely, she has not encountered a werewolf that triggered his curse with a white glowing light coming out from his body. She has always known Lucas to be special but not to the point of possessing the type of power she’s witnessing now.
Lucas’ bone stopped the snapping sound and the reshaping as the beastly hairs disappeared. She made a sigh of relief and quickly rushed to check on him once more. “Lucas! Lucas!” she calls out.
Lucas inhales allowing air to enter his lungs as he quickly sat up.
“Are you alright?” Jane asked with curiosity.
“I’m fine,” Lucas replied as he glanced at Jane. His eyes glowed blue.
“Your eyes glow; you have triggered the werewolf curse.”
Lucas cast a searing gaze at her. He was shocked and curious at the same time. He has never mentioned anything to anyone except Ann and Bonnie. “What do you know about the werewolf curse?” he asked.
“A Banshee can easily detect a werewolf in human form. I know what has been going on in New Orleans.”
“What!” Lucas exclaimed in disbelief. ‘Is she saying she’s a Banshee?’ he ponders in his heart. He has seen movies about Banshees with their abilities to scream and discover dead bodies. However, they are much more than that as Banshee’s screams drown out all other sounds around her to focus on the voices in her head. Lucas couldn’t help but fire a couple of questions. “Tell me, are you a Banshee? How long have you been a Banshee? How did you manage to hide your identity?”
Jane clears her throat as she opens her mouth to speak. “I’m a Banshee and I have been a Banshee since birth because I inherited that from my paternal ground mother. Keeping my identity a secret is not a big deal, however, my parents already know of it and have been helping me outlive my fears of hurting people. Since we moved into New Orleans, we realize I can’t hide it for long because of the supernatural happenings around us. Dead bodies are being found almost every day and I can’t ignore it but use my abilities to keep my family safe.”
Banshees do have supernatural abilities; however, they are not supernatural beings like werewolves and witches. In other words, they can’t be controlled by the supernatural and they do not have immortality like the werewolves and the witches that can live on except by being killed with a special magical tool or a supernatural being like them.
Lucas can’t believe this. However, he’s happy that he may not be left alone of being the only supernatural being in their neighborhood. If Jane has kept her identity a secret for long, he can do the same. However, the only difference is that her family is aware of her Banshee identity and as for him, he also wants to keep this a secret from his father, lest, his father will have reasons to hate his mother even in death.
Lucas rose to his feet. He still can’t believe his secret love is a Banshee. He helped her up to her feet as they both stared at the dead body of Stone. “How do we get rid of him?” Lucas asked.
Before Jane could say a word, they came giggling followed by chuckling from the background. They both stared around with curiosity to know who it was. They were no sign of anyone as the giggling and chuckling continued. “Who is it, show yourself now?” Lucas yelled.
For a few seconds, the giggling and chuckling seized, and out of the wall emerged Ann. She was putting on a smiling face. The type of face Lucas has never seen her put on before. She makes her way to Lucas and puts up her face to have a clear view of Lucas. “You have triggered your werewolf curse and it’s time for you to learn how to master your wizardry powers.”
“Hello Ann, we meet again.” Jane draws Ann’s attention as she believed she was being ignored.
“You two know each other?” Lucas asked with curiosity.
“Yes we do,” they both replied at the same time staring at each other with a weird gaze.
HILLTOP
An hour later, one of the werewolves keeping watch at the entrance of the Hilltop caught a glimpse of a dead body laying some few paces away from him. He quickly howl-bark calling out the rest of the packs. Alpha Jones was out too as he was the one taking the lead as they approaches the dead body only to realize it was Stone. Alpha Jones was heartbroken as he fell to his knees, he squeals and then turned to face his packs. “It’s time to burn this city!” he roared.
