Chapter 18

This time, Dezen bought something from Church of Alen. They were magical resources, with nature mana, and few tools.

Dezen wants to test, with them, if undead plants will become more "alive" after absorbing mana with them. This way, he might gain a source of food, maybe not normal, but eatable. He won't do the same with animals, because he feels reluctant, thinking about it. It just something that his moral rules don't allow.

Buying them didn't take too long, so he started browsing what else the church sells.

His attention caught a silver armour. It wasn't beautiful, but the price was good and enchantments are useful. It gives protection against physical and magical attacks, by creating appropriate barriers. Not only that, but it even has enchantment, making moving in it easier.

- I want to buy it too. - Dezen pointed at the offer of the silver armour in the catalogue.

- It will take a while to bring you it. You want to pay with money stored at your account, or you have it with yourself?

- With money from account.

Zan told about this payment to one of his co-workers, responsible for bringing items from the warehouse.

- I wonder Zan, are you some kind of main salesman? You always give other orders and nor guard, nor defensive systems block people who you guide, what means you are someone important.

- Let's say so. I have to oversee other workers, and in cases like you selling us new knowledge, I am responsible for taking people like you to the right church members.

Dezen asked him a few more questions, trying to make a friendly talk with Zan, before he got wanted armour.

Dezen then checked if it fits him, it didn't, and the next few didn't either.

After finding the good one, he went to the special area, where he could test it.

He was satisfied with that product, so they finalised the transaction. Then, he continued his talk with Zan, until he (Zan) received message that pricing Dezen's results of examinations was ended.

Once again, Dezen was taken to Derek's office, where he sat at an armchair, in front of Derek.

- I have to say that your researches are incredible. You discovered and described things we didn't know, and they are probably important for development of science. However, they don't have a real use for us, thus Church of Alen won't value it highly. But if development in biology goes further, you will be adequately awarded.

- So if I develop biology by myself, I will be paid more?

- Yes. It will serve the development of the humanity, and Church of Alen is ready to pay for this. Your current achievements serve it too, but their quantity and depth is too small. And you could misunderstand me. You don't have to do this by yourself, if someone else develops biology to this required point, you will be adequately paid for your achievements. That means, your income from selling that knowledge will rise, and you will be able to use it to buy knowledge about space magic again.

- Ohhh... That is fair, I didn't, I mean, I did not really expect it. Thank you, if it means something.

- That is how we, Alenists, live, following justice. The percentage of income you will get this time will be 27 percent. Conditions are the same.

- I accept. Now, what creatures have you prepared for me.

- Lastefan wolves, 3 species of snakes and black-white bears.

- Black-white bears? You really want me to examine them? Aren't they rare?

- Yes. We don't encounter them too often, thus we don't really need good ways to kill them, but church is interested in their ability to live both in hot and icy environments. Maybe you will be able to find the reason of it. However, we don't expect you to do this, so do not worry if you fail.

- I understand. This time you will have to wait for examinations results a little longer, maybe a week or two, I am not sure. I have some project I want to make.

- We do not need these results as fast as possible, so it is fine. One more thing, you want to count these examinations to build teleportation station, or for buying space magic?

- Teleportation station. How many more beings I have to examine?

- 2. However, the next time we will give you more creatures, they will be counted to buying space magic, or whatever you want.

- Cannot you give me them now? It would be convenient for me.

- If you really want it, then yes. But you will have to wait a few days. We already prepared corpses of said creatures, so you can start examinations today. But, you know whether you can revive creatures if they bodies are frozen? Or they have to be in that "normal" state?

- I... Do not really know. I guess it is a good chance to test it.

After corpses were taken out of the warehouse, Dezen used Revival on them and it worked.

He stayed at a special room, given to by the Church of Alen, which was connected with "laboratory", where he could do his examinations.

After 2 days, he got remaining creatures. One was a deadly weed, the second was a plant with countless thorns, often planted, by normal people, as part of the defence against animals.

After reviving them, Dezen didn't have anything else to do, so he set out to his village.

When he came back, Dezen dived nature magical resources between 2 undead trees, and started preparing for his project.

Lately, he was thinking about his development. He created spells used for examinations, he made many researches and tests, but his personal battle strength didn't rise too much. As necromancer, he will rely in this aspect on his undead, which he managed to make stronger, but still he prefers to have enough power to participate in battles at high level. Thus, he wants to make a comprehensive range of spells usable at fighting, and his own fight style.

The latter is indirectly connected with said project.

Dezen wants to make one of his undead wolves enormously stronger than the other, and fight with it, to gain valuable experience in a safe environment.

He can then make other undead equally strong, rising his overall strength to the next level, and gain experience how to fight with many stronger opponents.

Besides this, he can order his undead to fight with each other.

Although, they've been doing it for months, and Dezen even has some experience of commanding them, but both he and his undead lack experience of fighting with stronger enemies as a group and so on.

For a few hours, he was mostly cutting off muscles, boned and connective tissue from the biggest wolf. Since they are from an undead, they don't need to be stored in some special way.

Dezen didn't take things like liver, or stomach because undead don't use them, thus they don't need them. He was even wondering if he can replace them, but he wasn't confident enough in his abilities yet to try it.

Besides this, Dezen was also taking things like joint capsule and ligaments, but in smaller amounts.

He was planning to mostly add them later, when he ends the first part of the modifications, and when he ends testing how to add them and in what amounts, in order to rise the strength of the undead. Because of it, he doesn't gather too much of them now.

Theoretically, it could negatively affect the biggest wolf, but it's not like he will feel any pain, and he has incredible regeneration abilities, which will heal him if he got any injury. Therefore, things like too small amount of ligaments, and wounds caused by it, won't be a problem.

When he ended, he made the biggest wolf regenerate, then Dezen cut his torso.

Stopping his regeneration, he added vertebrae to his spin, and watched green fire merging them. Then he added ribs and covered it all with flesh.

Dezen stopped, when he made it over 5 metres long, then, he started widening it.

After ending this part, he was wide for around 4 metres in his shoulders, and 2 in his hips.

Since it was late at night, and he was tired, Dezen went to sleep, leaving his changed undead wolf in this strange shape.

Nest were legs and arms.

Since he changed the shape of this wolf to humanoid, it was harder than it would be with a normal wolf. However, Dezen didn't complain, or get discouraged, he was just seeing it as a way to get more valuable experience.

It took him over a day, to end modifying them.

Dezen made legs over 5.5 metres long, arms over 5.7.

Now, only the head and his claws remained.

To get bigger claws and fangs, he collected from the biggest wolf a few sets of their normal versions, merged in green flames and sharpened with tools he bought at Aren.

Alex could help him with sharpening, so it took less time than any other part of that project.

The same day, he managed to make this wolf's head proportionally big, and add new fangs and claws, finishing first part of this project.
