First love leap To The future And Back

Confessing to her love was the hardest thing Mai ever had to do. Countless sleepless nights, thinking over and over again what to say. Imagining the great things that could happen to them once he said yes! All of that, for her to get turned down with a simple “No!” ‘At least tell me why?’ She thought. However, she never did find out. Crying herself to sleep, thinking of how embarrassing that single moment was, a sweet dream appeared... Ten years in the future, she was crying once again. Only this time, she was wearing a black dress and in front of her was the photo... of him. “It must be hard for you to have lost your husband.” A woman said. “Husband?” Having no memories of why she was there or what had happened, there was only one thing she could think. “Is this a dream?” Upon returning back to her bedroom, she would soon find out... it wasn’t a dream…. Soon Mai would find herself switching back between the future and present, all for the sake of love.

Fake or real

Mai's hands were trembling as she read the same report over and over again. She just couldn't believe it. Now she knew the truth that her dreams weren't really dreams and she really was travelling to the future.

'Jheeze am I going crazy?'

However, soon her suspicions would be confirmed with even more evidence as moments later, the video was uploaded online of the old grandma fending off the robbers. Not only that, it was identical to the one she had only seen a few days ago.

The date, the video, everything was exactly the same. It was too much for it to just be a coincidence.

'Wait a minute, if that means that is the real future and everything is going to go ahead, it means I will eventually end up marrying Chris!' She thought, jumping for joy in her room as if her fever had completely disappeared from learning that fact.

Soon another realisation came crashing to her, and the jumping for joy stopped.

'That also means that Chris…will be murdered, but why? I never even found out what really happened to him. Does that mean if I do nothing, me and Chris will end up being together but he will still end up dying? Is it one of those things that even though I know the future, it will never change?'

She started to spiral deep into her thoughts and sat down before she would collapse from exhaustion. The problem was her mind and body were weak at the moment due to her fever. There were a few things she was now afraid of that she had done.

The first was leaving the note to the future self of hers, had this affected the future Mai? Because of this, she wasn't too keen on going to the future again so soon.

'I think I have a good idea of how to get back to the place, it needs tears.' Mai thought and she held the crystal in her fingertips. 'Although I'm not the best when it comes to trying to force myself to cry. If it comes to it, maybe I can rub chillies on my eyes, or cut some onions.

'But before I do anything more in the future, I need to figure out if I can even change the future. If I can find out who really stole my clothes and planted them into Simon's locker, then maybe his and my relationship would have never grown apart.

'When I go back there, the ten years of missed friendship will be restored and then I can find out what happened to Chris and stop that as well. I'm a genius! I knew all my studying would help out with something.'

With a plan set in motion and pulling up her sheets, Mai was confident about what she needed to do. Excited like a little princess, she thought of all the ways she would benefit greatly from this strange power.

When shutting her eyes to make the next day come sooner, an image appeared in her head.

'Wait what is this, this feeling. Is this really a dream this time, something is a bit unclear.' A mist started to form on top of her, and it felt like she couldn't move. She was stuck in her bed just like she remembered but no matter how hard she tried nothing worked.

'Is it because of the fever, do I still feel sick, what is this a gho- who- ghost!' She stuttered, soon the mist started to form into a blonde haired boy, who looked her deep in the eyes and his face started to get closer and closer.

It was without a doubt Simon, and the scene from earlier when he visited was playing in her mind.

"No!" She shouted, lifting up the pillow from the back of her head and swinging it outward. Finally her eyes opened and she realised that she really had fallen asleep. That wasn't the future like last time but was a dream instead.

"Damn him, that stupid Simon! Why did he have to go and do something like that!' She angrily thought. She looked at the time and it was still only 9:00 PM. At this time, she thought Simon would still be awake and knowing that the dream would trouble her, she decided to send him a text.

[Remember to pick me up tomorrow like you usually do?] and the message was sent.

It didn't take long to get a message back. After all, what else was there to do other than play on your phone and internet in a quiet village.

[K]

'K, he just sends a K? Not even an OK, or an okay. Well at least it wasn't the worst response, it could have been, k with a full stop. I guess We'll just have to see what's going to happen tomorrow.'

Putting her phone back on the side of her bed near her lamp, she decided to go back to sleep in the hopes that her actions would make her not dream of a certain someone.

Surprisingly, as if she had no worries at all, Mai fell fast asleep and even slept through her phone having vibrated through the night.

——

Waking up the next day, Mai did her usual thing as she got ready for school. Her fever had completely vanished and even if she did still feel a little unwell she had planned to go to school no matter what. For one to find the culprit who stole her clothes and the second, to meet up with Chris.

After having changed, she picked up her phone and noticed that there was a message on there and it was left by none other than Simon.

[Aren't you going to ask about what I did?]

Seeing the message, she could see it was sent in the middle of the night and upon reading it, her head started to heat up again.

'Maybe I didn't get rid of this stupid fever after all.'

The good news was when she left her home, Simon was waiting for her with his bike as usual.

"Hey, so you didn't sleep in and it looks like you're all better now. I guess my little trick worked." He said, giving a playful wink.

Mai wanted to go over there and hit him with the side of her bag, so that's exactly what she did. She walked over and swung out her messenger bag, hitting him on his backside.

"Just shut up." She said with a smile creeping onto her face and hopping onto the back seat. She was glad that things were back to normal and that Simon was his usual idiot self.

'I guess I was just thinking too much into that message he sent last night. He was just joking, there's no way he could have meant anything with that kiss…right?'
