Another One

Austronesian Empire, Tanah Melayu, Melaka, Streets Of Melaka.

2000, 1, 1st Week, January.

A figure quickly maneuvered through the battlefield, able to dodge detection from the soldiers at the different crossroads. The figure appears to be deformed, with a set of horns at the top of it's head. However, this figure is much different, as it's limbs looked more like a knife than a proper limb typical of a human.

The figure silently stalked it's prey. When the time had come, it jumped from the top of the roof of a three-storey house and made a dash towards it's target. As the figure gets near and near towards it's intended target.

The soldiers took notice of this figure that was quickly dashing towards them, and so they redirected their shots towards this figure.

Flickers of light erupted from the front of the figure and the shots also hit it, which was directed towards it. However, it wasn't enough to stop the figure, and so it got close and took it's first victim.

The soldier was aiming down his assault rifle when the figure got too close for comfort, and so he switched into a close quarter combat position. Unfortunately for the soldier, the figure jumped and sliced down the assault rifle.

Upon seeing the assault rifle in two pieces, the soldier swiftly switched into a battle knife. Alas, it was too late; the figure twisted it's body to which the sharp as ever limbs of was then swiftly passed through the soldier's neck. Crimson blood gushed out of the neck and splattered all over the surroundings, to the horror of the other soldiers. It didn't stop there.

After maneuvering around the shots that were being fired against it. The figure once again made a dash towards another unfortunate soul. The figure jumped as fast as a lightning and as high as a jump from a trampoline.

The soldier that was being charged at noticed that the figure, or now a monster, was heading to kill him off. The soldier focused with all his might on shooting the figure, however, it ended on the same fate as the last one.

Unfortunately, this time, it was much quicker and faster. The figure or monster didn't even slice down the assault rifle, instead it went for the kill as fast as it can.

The figure rotated it's body after it jumped as it softly sliced the neck of the soldier as the blood splatter around the surroundings. This didn't go unnoticed by the surroundings soldiers as they continued to shoot the monster. However, before they shot the monster, it hid behind a concrete barrier.

The monster was carefully timed it's attack as it waited for the soldiers to reload. Due to it's inherent intelligence it was able to quickly discover that after a period, the soldiers would need to reload their weapons.

When the flickers of light dies down, the monster then dashed off towards another victim. It ran off with large strides as the next victim falls to it's knees. However, before the monster was able to take out another victim a soldier was aiming at it.

"Check your back!" a soldier said

The soldier looked behind him.

"Checked!" the soldier said

The soldier then ordered the other soldier that was carrying the rocket launcher.

"Fire!" the soldier said

The soldier was carrying a rocket launcher, and when the order to fire was released. A barrage of smoke came from it's behind to which was then followed by the actual release of the rocket towards it's intended target.

A bright light lit up the surroundings as the rocket launches off to which a smoke from it then followed it's behind. The monster didn't notice it, as it was hiding behind a concrete barrier. However, when it noticed it, it tried to leave as it's senses were tingling in alertness. Unfortunately, it was too late.

Another bright light lit's up, which was then followed by a deafening explosion that rocked the surroundings. The soldiers that were near the area of explosion fell to their butt, which was then soaked in murky water that was mixed with blood and with disgusting smell.

Upon contact with the explosion, the monster was utterly obliterated even though it has avoided most of the shots that were fired against it. Unfortunately, it wasn't able to avoid something that packs a stronger punch.

Upon seeing the death of their enemy that has massacred their numbers, they cheered in surroundings. However, the current situation didn't allow it to last long as everything happened too quickly that another round of those disgusting flying monsters was approaching at them.

The soldiers then dashed off towards their respective positions and started firing at the monsters. One by one the monsters were being shot, however ammunition is nothing but a constraint as they are now rapidly running out of ammunition.

When the flying monsters were able to get near the soldiers, they then bayoneted the hell out of the monsters as they stab it repeatedly until it dies of blood loss. It was a very harsh thing to do, however, because of the limited amount of ammunition they had to do it.

The soldiers were sustaining casualties, however, in just a nick of time reinforcements were able to arrive. With the rapid decline of communication devices because of the catastrophic storm, the high command thought that they will need to resupply and send additional men in the streets as reports of monsters were being reported in the high command.

With communication from radios, cut off. The high command then started distributing a higher class form of communication devices. The manufacturing of it was top class and top secret. It should bypass communication jammers. Unfortunately, the distribution of it was slow, and so heavy casualties is expected to rise exponentially.

Meanwhile, all across Austronesia, flash floods were submerging the land as fires that cannot be put out spread throughout from villages to villages. Survival seemed to be very low as time goes by.
