First Impressions Don't Always Last

Samantha Curtis is in an arranged marriage with a very handsome rich guy 6 years her senior. On the first meeting, he downright turned the idea down. But circumstances happened and they ended up together with the condition that they shouldn't fall for each other. Can they keep up with it? Hello lovely people! This is my first time writing and I really appreciate it if you can support me and try to give my novel a read. I'll try to publish chapters as regularly as I could! :) P.S. The image I used for my book cover isn't mine. Took it from a free sharing platform and didn't cover the artist's signature.

I Do

"Hello, Dear!" a dark haired, glamorous lady waved at me as I approached her at the cafe.

"How are you doing, Mrs. Levesque? It's been quite some time since we last saw each other."

She stood up and gave me a warm hug.

"I've been well. And please, call me Rachel. No, mom actually sounds so much better." she said with a smile.

We ordered our coffees and headed back to the table where we were awhile ago.

"So, how are you feeling? Are the preparations going well?" she asked.

Looking closely, I can see that Chace got most of his features from his mom- light brown eyes, straight nose, and a perfectly symmetrical face.

" I'm good and it's so much easier because Chace hired a wedding planner. We barely need to think about anything after we've shared our inputs from the first meeting. " I said with a smile.

"That's good then. And today, we'll tick one more thing off of your to do list. Are you excited to pick your wedding dress?!" she asked

"Oh!" I exclaimed in surprise.

"Chace didn't tell you? I'm sorry. I hope I'm not imposing anything." Rachel said ruefully.

"Oh no! Not at all!" I said in response.

"I'm not really sure what Chace told you. He's a man of few words most of the time. But don't let that get to you. Despite him coming off as cold, he's really a genuine, caring, loving man once you get to know him better. And I'm not saying this just because I'm his mom."

"I know that this is hard- getting married first before actually knowing each other. Both of you loves Mom so much and it genuinely shows. I want to thank you for that. And please, please know that I fervently pray that both of you will find love and comfort in each other's company and have a long, loving marriage." she continued.

"Thank you so much." I replied with a smile.

"I'm sure that you already know this, you've always been family to us. And I'm really happy that it's you that Chace is going to marry." Rachel said holding my hand.

I consider myself very lucky. It's just ironic though how everyone in the family loves me except for the guy I'm going to marry.

"Ahh! Let's get to business before we start getting too emotional!" she laughed softly.

We went to a bridal boutique a few blocks from the cafe we were in.

"Good morning, Madam!" the manager politely greeted us with a bow.

"Good morning." Mrs. Levesque greeted back.

" I've booked the whole day so feel free to browse and choose to your heart's content." she turned to me and smile.

My eyes widened in surprise. "The whole day?!"

Wow. I'm starting to have princess vibes going on here but made a mental note not to get used to this. But today, I'll just enjoy, I mean who doesn't love shopping, right?

There's so many choices! They all look pretty! I have to narrow down my choices to make it easier then I tried a few of those I like best.

"It's hard isn't it? They all look good on you!" Rachel said thoughtfully,

At the end of it, I chose a beaded plunging neckline, A-line gown with beaded belt and tulle flutter sleeves. The back is low cut with a chapel train and veil made of pure silk tulle. It's seductive and dreamy. It balances glamour and comfort considering I need to walk on a garden path.

I then chose a white, pearl embroidered, 3-inch slingback stilettos for my bridal shoes.

"It's perfect!!" Rachel exclaimed.

"We'll take this." she said to the manager.

I handed my card but then Rachel stopped my hand.

"Let me get it for you." she offered.

"Oh, no! It's more than enough that you accompanied me today." I said.

"Please, I insist." she gave me a warm smile.

"It will be delivered to your preferred address, Madam." the manager said after finishing the transaction.

"Thank you so much for today. I really appreciate it." I said.

"No problem, dear. I enjoyed spending time with you." she brought me in for a hug.

We bid each other goodbye as we headed for our cars.

I'm fidgeting in my seat, waiting for Greta to tell me it's time to go. After what seemed like an eternity, I heard the door open and saw her smiling at me. She lead me to the corner and gave me final instructions to where I'm supposed to march. The place is so beautiful filled with lots of flowers everywhere.

I heard Canon in D started playing and all eyes flew to my direction. I personally handpicked these pianist and cellist because I love their version the most. I took a few deep breaths and held my bouquet of soft pink ranunculus and peonies firmly before I started walking.

Chace was at the end of the altar looking at me intently. He looks dashing as ever in his black suit and tie. We proceeded and exchanged our marriage vows.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

Chace faced me and softly grabbed the hem of my veil. He slowly lifted it up and looked at me for a brief moment.

"Oh my gosh! I had a lot of things in my mind, I've gone completely oblivious about this part! Wait!! I need time to prepare!" I thought to myself panicking a little.

As I snapped back to reality, I saw Chace leaning forward, his beautiful face coming closer and closer. I held my breath and then I felt his lips on mine. His warm, soft lips lingered and I want to drown in it. I felt his hands hold me by the small of my back and on my nape.

I felt his tongue enter my mouth, graze on my teeth, before ever so lightly played with my tongue. The movement made me weak on the knees. I staggered and held on his arms for support.

As if remembering where we are, he ended the kiss and stepped an inch away.

Greta nodded while looking at her right side and suddenly, hundreds of white butterflies started flying around us! It's so beautiful and mesmerizing. Coincidentally, that's how I feel right now- butterflies in my stomach, and heart flutters. I looked at Chace and realized that his hand is still on my back.

As if signaling the end of the ceremony, everyone started clapping and congratulating us with smiles on their faces. We approached our family and guests. Greeted them with hugs and proceeded to the picture taking. Right after, we moved to the reception hall to accommodate our guests.

"Congratulations!!!" Mabel ran towards me and held my hands.

"The wedding is perfect! It's like a fairy tale!" she gushed.

"Mmm, here comes your prince charming!"Mabel lightly elbowing me with a teasing tone when she saw Chace approaching us.

"I shall go now and find my own prince among this men." she said as she curtsied then walked away.

"Nan is looking for us." Chace said as he held my back and escorted me to where Nan is.
